I prefer them when i'm traveling and I've been traveling a lot this month. short books give me anxiety on the trip because i think i might finish them too quickly and have nothing to read for the rest of the flight! 😅

I don't mind a chunkster if I have the time to read it. I start trying to rush if I have other books I want to read, and then I get anxious. Travelling is a good time to read them.

I agree, nothing is more frustrating than starting a big book and not having enough time to read it at a reasonable pace. :)

Haha, I have the same! I have my ereader so I'm not likely to run out of books, but when I travel for a long time with nowhere else to go (like on a plane) I always bring a paper book as well, just in case my ereader decides to die during the flight. Being stuck on a 10-hour flight with a ereader that dies after 1 hour is one of the horror scenarios of my life!

Same. But even with shorter books some time, when they take more time to read than I expected and I have other books that I also want to get to soon.

I've put more pressure on myself since I started planning what books to read for various activities each month. Gone are the days when I just read a book at my own leisure, and then decide what to read next.

I haven't done that in ages either, reading just because. I read about 4/5 books per month, and with the group read, monthly challenge and the year long challenge (where I want to read 30 books) that basically fills every month.

I have plenty of books and the challenges give plenty of options so I don't need to read books that I don't want to read at that moment, but I have many books that I really do want to read but just don't find the time/challenge for.

I've considered going for only 1 badge in the yearlong challenges, but they're just too much fun! And such a waste of all the gophering otherwise ;-)

What did you think of the book, Niloo?

I really enjoyed it despite some major flaws. The first 70 pages were confusing with all the names, places and histories but it got better. At the end i wish it was a series not a stand-alone, even though that's one of the reasons i picked it up in the first place. the second half was kind of rushed and i wanted to learn more about some characters. overall it was a nice book to start getting back to the high fantasy genre since I've been away from it for some time.

The author's answer to the question about whether there will be a series is, "PRIORY is a self-contained story and absolutely works on its own, but this world has more tales to tell . . . I'd love to return to it." It sounds likely there will be future books.

My main issue was with the pacing and its rushed ending but the world building and magic system were really interesting. So i'll definitely read more books set in this world. :) Also a major cast of female characters in a high fantasy story was very refreshing. Normally there is only one female protagonist and maybe a couple of cool side characters. I hope this is a theme that the author carries on in the next books.
