Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments As always please feel free to mention any books I missed and let us know what you are reading.

Thanks!!

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Alot of good ones again.

message 4: by Angie (new)

Angie | 419 comments I'm all kinds of excited about JASON by Laurell K Hamilton!! He's one of my favorite characters in the whole series. Of course from the blurb, it sounds like it's going to be 95% kink and erotica, but as long as I get some Jason, that's all that matters!!

Also, The Scent (Bryn and Sinjin #2) by H.P. Mallory , the second in the Sinjin and Bryn series, on December 30th.

It seems like there's a couple others I'm forgetting but that's mostly because I'm half asleep.

See I'm on the fence with Jason. I like him, but LKH's books have been so so for so long, yet I can't stop myself from reading them. However they are automatic library books, she doesn't get my money any longer.

message 6: by Angie (new)

Angie | 419 comments The last Anita book was tons better than the several before that. I had just about given up, which to have read so many and then give up would have broken my poor little OCD heart! But since that last one was so much improved, I'm hoping she's back on track, though, as I said, I realize Jason will be closer to the porn she did for a while than the last one. I bought Shiver of Light, I think on ebook and audible both, but since I couldn't remember anything from the previous couple books, I haven't bothered reading it yet.

I read Shiver of Light and it was a good way to bring things to an end.

Which ones are you looking forward to. I feel like there is not that many for end of the year books you know.

It does seem like there should be more releases for x-mas presents.

But the ones that I'm looking forward to are Low Midnight, it's supposed to have a lot of Cormac, I like how he has changed. I really like the world of Revenant by Larissa Ione. Kerrelyn Sparks's books are always good for a laugh. I'm glad to see a new Sydney Croft, but it has been a long time since they had a new book, so I hope it's easy to catch up in. I really liked the Baba Yaga book, so am looking forward to meeting a new one in Wickedly Wonderful by Deborah Blake. And as I said, I'm on the fence with Jason, because LKH is so iffy now.

I've been wondering about these, I thought the first one looked interesting, but being cheap and not knowing my library did digital lending, I only glanced at them. I'm glad to see feedback from someone that's read the first one at least!

I sort of went into the book figuring it would end up in my dnf pile, but it surprised me and I really liked it.

It is, it's her special that she puts out every year.

Yeah, usually these books are limited editions small books with high quality paper and they usually sell out.

message 17: by Angie (new)

Angie | 419 comments Does anyone read the Rizzoli and Isles series by Tess Gerritsen? I love the TV show, but that doesn't always mean that I'll like the books. Or I'll end up loving the books more and then end up not wanting to watch the show anymore. I'm a fan of the Temperence Brennan novels by Kathy Reichs and Bones the TV show, which is different for me, since if I like one I will usually decide the other is not as good and give up on it. With the Temperence Brennan books being so different from the show, I was surprised I liked them both so well. I just am not sure I want to jump into a series as long as Rizzoli and Isles without getting a little more info on the books compared to the show.

Also, anyone read any of the B.L.I.S.S. Books by Loveswept? They have different authors, the one released this month is by Lyndsay Sands. I like her Argeneau Vampire novels, but i can only imagine they're quite different from each other!

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Not to be morbid but how does Tom Clancy have a new book? He passed away a few years ago. Most of the time when ghost writers pick up those stories they never seem to do it justice IMO.

Nope did not know it was a series.

As for Bliss it was cute but that is an older book I think

I don't do ghost written books, but it seems to me there's lots of writers that are still alive using ghost writers or something. Like can James Patterson really put out 50 books a year, like seems to be how many are advertised each year? And they all seem to have a second writer's name on them anymore. He's not the only one, just the most proficient and well known. I know for a while there was one writer that was the second on every other book, Max Allan Collins, but he seems to be doing more of just his own anymore. I know the first one I read by him was also by "Richard Castle", from the TV show Castle. It wasn't very good IMO.

I have read the first two books and they do differ from the show quite a bit. Like Jane's relationships and such. Also most of the series tends to focus on Isles and her work as opposed to Rizzoli. One other major difference is the books don't have a lot to do with characters like Jane's mom or the other cops. I personally stopped reading the books because of these reasons and I do love the show.

Thanks Mike! That seems similar to the Tempe Brennan books then, if they differ that much. Like in the books, Tempe is in her forties and in the show she started in her 20's. And she's the only character on the show that is in the books. Makes quite a difference and it annoyed me at first, but then I just decided to look at it as very loosely based on the books. I'll have to continue to think about the R&I books, since I have problems not reading a whole series if it's available.

I got it from my library, the audio download. It was an interesting book to listen to as this was definitely a sex book, not action Anita book. I did like some of the talks and some of the things that Anita learned about herself, but I could have done without it too.

I can see that completely. I've decided to wait a little while before I read it, since I just read a BDSM anthology not long ago and it brought me down big time! I doubt that LKH's book would be as downright degrading as some of those stories, but I still want to give my brain time to recover.

I can see that. I wouldn't have read it so quickly, but it appeared I was the first person on the request list and it wasn't even 5 hours long to listen to it, so I thought I'd just get it over with.
