“Keep reading. It’s one of the most marvellous adventures that anyone can have.” -Lloyd Alexander
Hey There!
I hope you and your family is safe during this time of crisis. I recently made an online book chatting website called- http://book-talks.com. Book-Talks is a platform where passionate readers like you and me and book readers from around the world can come and chat about their favourite books. For e.g. If you’ve read a very famous book then why not chat about the book with readers who have read the same book – share your thoughts on the book, the best moments and scenes in the book, post a fan edit for a part of the book you liked or disliked or even share some real-life experiences that you can easily relate with the book. I really really wish you would check Book-Talks and contribute in its aim for connecting book readers all over the world. Lastly, as said by Lloyd Alexander books are the best form of an adventure then why not share your adventure with others and also be of their adventures.
(PS: Thank you for spending your precious time reading this message. Everyone starts with that one subscriber, one follower and today I am doing that with my site so the biggest thank you to the very first visitors of my website. I Pinkie Promise that you will love Book-Talks and Book-Talks loves you back for visiting it.... Thanks again!! Have a wonderful day!)
I've had a couple of political reads recently. Colombiano is about the terrifying situation of kidnappings, guerrillas, and drug wars in Colombia.Aussie-born author Rusty Young spent a lot of time there and wrote this compelling, fictionalised, first-hand account of a child soldier.
4.5★ Link to my "Colombiano" review
On an entirely different political note, I just enjoyed this children's biography Work It, Girl: Michelle Obama by Caroline Moss. Written to inspire girls to become leaders, it has lots of details and includes more resources at the end.
4★ Link to my 'Michelle Obama' review with a few illustrations.
I'm trying to get through The Reach of Rome: A Journey Through the Lands of the Ancient Empire, Following a Coin in Polish - Imperium. Podróż po Cesarstwie Rzymskim śladem jednej monety, but it turns out that's a hard book to read for me :DIn the meantime I'm reading other books, currently The Silkworm also in Polish edition - Jedwabnik
I am currently readingThe Queen of the Damned
I have seen the movie and really liked it. The book is different and I am having a hard time getting into it. I might put it aside and read something else and try again later.
I am reading The Love Lives of Birds: Courting and Mating Rituals by Laura Erickson

I'm just starting The Family Upstairs. My reading has been all over the place lately. I'm hoping to finish this one quickly before it has to go back to the library, then get back to The Book of Lost Friends. I'm also reading Little Secrets, which I'm supposed to read for review, but I'm late. Fortunately, it's engaging so hopefully I'll finish that one soon too.
Finished Invisible Jews: Surviving the Holocaust in Poland
by Eddie BielawskiMy Review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/3329268800
I just finished reading Stolen, which I felt was a bit slow. I am currently reading Shatter Me, the first book in the series.
Capri wrote: "I just finished reading Stolen, which I felt was a bit slow. I am currently reading Shatter Me, the first book in the series."Are you liking Shatter Me so far? the series is on my "want to read" list it's next after I'm done with Verity.
I've read two completely different genre books-The Handmaid's Tale and The Other Side Of Midnight over the past two weeks. I'm currently starting to read Fire and Blood: A History of the Targaryen Kings from Aegon the Conqueror to Aegon III.
Just read a few pages till now and I'm loving it!
A new favourite, the terrific Mystic River by Dennis Lehane. A 20-year-old classic that's lost none of its punch. Great story, great characters, first-rate writing.

After Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel won the Booker Prize in 2009 and was short-listed for the Golden Booker in 2019 (best in 50 years), I figured I should read it again and write something. So I did.

Gideon The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. 80 pages in, it's a bit unrefined especially for an adult fantasy/sci-fi novel, much of the dialogue is crude and feels like I've walked into a frat house. As of now it's a 2.5 star book but the plot is interesting and the way the author is attempting to genre bend between fantasy and sci-fi is quite interesting. We'll see if they are successful when I finish and write a full review.
Just about to start The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. I’ve read half of it once before but can’t remember where I was up to so thought I would start all over again!
I finished reading No One Saw
by Beverly Long. This is book 2 in the best police procedural series that I have read in a long time. (I read book 1 back in January). My 5 star review will be posted around 5/30/2020.
I finished One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManusNow I'm reading The Selection by Kiera Cass and,
The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
I finished an urban fantasy today: The Vampire Sword
by T.L. Cerepaka.My 3 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Watchmen #1. what a great book. not really a fan of graphic novels, but this one is amazing.
I am reading so many books right now... Great and Precious Things, The Book of Lost Friends, Little Secrets, Eat Move Sleep: How Small Choices Lead to Big Changes, and The Terrible Two Go Wild with my grandson. They are all very different, so it is easy to keep them straight and I'm enjoying them all. Technically, I'm also reading Sparrow, but I haven't picked it up in a few days because my time is occupied by the others. I hope to get back to it soon though.
Reading Last Secret Chamber by Phil Philips
Started reading today A Tale of Two Cities
by Charles Dickens
I finished reading Candidate Spectrum
by Brian Cato. (fiction, politics, and a little sci-fi)My 3 star review will be posted around June 10, 2020.
