Andrea | 2211 comments After a false start and publishing delays, The Stray Cats of Homs turned out to be a real gem - one I'll be thinking about for a long time to come. If any NetGalley members are interested, I think it's still available until 6 August.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10046 comments Aussie author Kath Engebretson's second book, Nineteen Days is out in just over a week. Set on a cruise ship (maybe the cover gives that away?), it's a powerful little read.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10046 comments Anyone who enjoys small doses of crime fiction might like to try Vintage Crime: twenty-two short stories from twenty-two authors ranging from 1940 through to 2008, and including one by Mick Herron that fans are bound to enjoy.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10046 comments Having read and loved the print version of Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman I was very happy to have the gently accented Cathleen McCarron read me this wonderful story again. The same bits had me choking up, tears in my eyes.
5★s, of course!

PattyMacDotComma | 3344 comments Under Pressure is the second in the Lucas Page thriller series by Robert Pobi. Chemistry, physics, and brain-power vs money and thugs. Good read!

PattyMacDotComma | 3344 comments I hope, I hope, I hope some little girls will be inspired by Corazon Aquino and her passion for democracy! The Philippines needs her kind again. Thanks Mª Isabel Sánchez Vegara for another great addition to the Little People BIG IDEAS series.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10046 comments Aussie author Charlotte McConaghy's new novel, The Last Migration (also published as Migrations) is a slow build, but by the final reveal you need to have the tissues ready.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10046 comments I enjoyed the audio version of The Widows of Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey, although, quite often the narrator, Soneela Nankani overdid the expressiveness.

4.5★s for the audio version

PattyMacDotComma | 3344 comments Fantastic 2005 best-seller! The Glass Castle is an outstanding memoir by Jeannette Walls, who was lucky to make it to adulthood, more or less intact, despite her neglectful, nutty parents.
