Carolyn | 9840 comments My review for Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson (also published as Rules for Perfect Murders). I thought it was a great premise for a crime novel but it just didn't quite hit the mark for me.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Alexander McCall Smith is one of my favourite authors, because, really, you just can't go wrong with his books. The 13th installment of the Isabel Dalhousie series, The Geometry of Holding Hands is filled with gentle philosophy and is just as entertaining as the other 12.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments After reading the second installment in Alexander McCall Smith's Detective Varg series, The Talented Mr Varg, I really like the protagonist, Ulf Varg, I was very pleased to see that Wollongong City Libraries had the Bolinda audio version available via Borrowbox, so I could drive and do chores while listening. Saul Reichlin is an excellent narrator.

A pleasant read but on a topic I generally steer clear of having been closely involved with a family member who through trauma disappeared into a delusional reality. This is so sad to observe and a tragedy.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I love Josephine Moon's new book, The Cake Maker’s Wish, and isn't that cover gorgeous. Makes me want to preheat the oven and get out the cake pans, or maybe just the cake forks :)

Carolyn | 9840 comments I've really enjoyed quite a few of Mark Edwards's previous novels but am not a big fan of this one, despite many readers giving it 5 stars (so do read it for yourself if you like his books and make up your own mind).

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments What a lovely, heart-warming read is Jane Riley's debut novel, The Likely Resolutions of Oliver Clock. I loved the quirky protagonist and would wish to have someone like him for the next funeral I have to organise. And those candles Edie Jones makes, fascinating idea!

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments My second book by Aussie author, Jaye Ford, this, her debut novel, Beyond Fear grabs you from page one and doesn't let go. Sometimes I had to do the reading equivalent of “hands in front of the eyes in a scary movie”: shut the book and walk away for a bit. A gutsy protagonist, but I wanted to shake her friends a couple of times.
