A lonely empty nester meets a young mother who has the same name as herself, and befriends her. Not the best idea.

Good suspenseful story. 4 stars

Creole Belle by James Lee Burke. One of my favorite crime series but 19 entries in, it is showing its age. Rating - 3/5

Araych | 676 comments Troubled Blood Troubled Blood (Cormoran Strike, #5) by Robert Galbraith by Robert Galbraith/J.K. Rowling

Cormoran Strike #5. Strike and Robin are hired to solve a 40 year-old murder. It takes them 927 pages to do it. I like this series a great deal but more than 900 pages? Ridiculous.

I'm reading a "not really mystery/crime" book too --The Nightfarers by Mark Valentine (Tartarus Press). So far all is fantastic, as I expect from this author.

and
Therapy = also good
and
The Third Sister written by a Danish author but set in Racine, Wisconsin with a female protagonist from Denmark. Interesting take on the funeral business in the US vs Denmark. Note: this is the last book in the trilogy. I like Sara Blaedel's books but you have to be careful as some of them have different names in the UK vs the US.

In this 19th book in the 'Inspector Rebus' series, Rebus investigates a suspicious car accident and comes under investigation for 'police misconduct' that occurred three decades ago. The book can be read as a standalone, but familiarity with the characters is a bonus.

Good mystery. 4 stars
