Just started
Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle after finishing what was, for me, a disappointing read,
The Girl You Gave Away by Jess Ryder. My spoiler free review can be found at https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/... and https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair by Joël DickerWhen a writer is accused of murder, his protégé decides to prove the author is innocent and write a book about it.
Good but overly long story that's very funny in places. 3.5 stars

Just finished Bury Them Deep by James Oswald. The 19th in the Tony McLean series. Started Festival of Deaths by Jane Haddam. A Gregor Demarkian mystery.
Started another audiobook yesterday, The Cutting Season by Attica Locke Loving the descriptions of Belle Vie.
Wow The Chalk Man by C J Tudor 😮😮😮 dammit it’s soo heart stoppingly good. Seriously if you haven’t read it yet do it’s brilliant. Now I am onto The Long Call by Ann Cleeves
About to begin
Our Little Cruelties by Liz Nugent after finishing
Problem Child by Victoria Helen Stone. My spoiler free review can be found at my webpage and https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I can recommend Tudor's latest novel The Other People. It's every bit as good as The Chalk Man.
Dead Silence
by Randy Wayne WhiteDoc Ford #16, OK to read as stand-alone. Ford tries to find a kidnapped 14-year -old Native American boy. White is a fine professional writer but I've never been a fan of this series, mainly because I never cared for the Tomlinson character. In this book there's not much Tomlinson but many chapters detailing the thoughts of the kidnapped boy, which don't advance the plot and had little interest for me. Personal reaction: 2 stars.
I finished my second Cornell Woolrich this morning; The Black Curtain. Interesting concept and excellent story. (4 stars). My review belowhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I have finished the long call by Ann Cleeves... am not sure how I like it and why? It has an easy way of flowing in the narrative but not sure whether it’s as good as Vera... probably need a few more books with the new character to suss him out. Currently reading The Widows Club by Amanda Brooke very intriguing so far.

I enjoyed The Long Call. Try not to set it against her other books -- this one's very different.

I noticed that you've had a couple of duds in your reading lists of late. Thanks for sharing your take on them and hope your luck improves with the next title.
Enjoyed the third title in the Leonid McGill series:
by Walter MosleyAlthough part of a series, this can be read as a standalone.
Now going back to a favorite series for me, the Bill Slider police procedurals by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. I'm on the tenth book, Dear Departed.

She Has a Broken Thing Where Her Heart Should Be by J.D. Barker after abandoning my read of
Our Little Cruelties by Liz Nugent. My spoiler free review can be found at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... and on my webpage sandysbookaday.wordpress.com
I Just finished Jar of Hearts
by Jennifer HillierMy Review: www.goodreads.com/review/show/3106174858
Wow, The Holdout by Graham Moore deserves the adjective "unputdownable".I finished at 4:30 am because I had to know what happened. But I also wanted to slow down, because I wanted to spend more time with Maya Seale, the protagonist, Bobby Nock, the defendant, as well as many of the other characters.
I was up so late I missed my webinar this morning, but I forgive Mr. Moore. Props to him for tackling issues of race, class and justice vs, legal system- and witnessing so truthfully and powerfully, yet never deterring the thrill of a legal thriller.
