HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 802 comments I loved Step Sister so I'm excited for this one. And loving that it is on the darker spectrum!

I've not read Step Sister but it's definitely on my TBR

message 303: by HeatherH (new)

HeatherH (bkwrm85) | 802 comments It was a bit darker than had expected going into it as well. Really fast read though with a great lesson within it.

Did you say dark fairytale?! Count me in! I want to read more of her work after Stepsister anyway

I have Stepsister too! I haven't read yet though 😅 Poison sounds really good too! I love dark stuff!

Yeah... I've stopped listening to it for now. I'm just too meh about it.

Sooooo..... I decided to DNF Spellcaster. It was just so meh. I'm sad about it as the narrator is one of my favourite narrators but I just wasn't really interested in the story.

I've started listening to the audiobook of a favourite From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout which will be my third read of this book this year. This never happens. I never usually read a book twice in one year, never mind three times. I've kind of lost my excitement for this series because of a number of interactions I've had in the blood and ash group on Facebook so I'm listening to the audiobooks to try and bring back my love and excitement for the series. I know it will take me a while to listen to it as I only usually listen for an hour or so a day and this audiobook is almost 20 hours long.

Brittany | 6455 comments Mod
Some of those long audios have been my faves but it will definitely take a bit to get through. Hope it brings back your love of the book and sorry that interactions with others have take some of that away.

I've just spring cleaned my bookcases. TBR down from 290 to 239

Nice! It's always really satisfying when you get rid of a good amount of books from your tbr.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) | 2304 comments Mod
I had some that had been sat on my bookcase for like 7 years. I was like let's be honest you're not going to read them after all that time.

Liliana (lililostinabook) | 2893 comments Mod
Very true. Last year I sat down and went through my entire collection and I got rid of over 100 books. I feel like a lot of them were ebooks, freebies I just kept buying and buying just because they were free, but realistically, I wasn't going to read them all. I feel like even though I have a lot of books on my tbr right now, it is much more under control.

message 315: by Kayleigh {K-Books}, YA Fantasy Fan (new)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) | 2304 comments Mod
Yes, I got rid of a lot of ebooks too. I think I have less than 10 ebooks now but I rarely read ebooks so I thought as I don't enjoy reading on my kindle much what's the point keeping them all there on my TBR? I only really use my kindle for my ARCs.

I feel so much better and more in control now. Next year is going to be a serious tackling of my TBR, along with my series. I'm going to try not to buy many books. I know I will inevitably get some as I get two usbscription boxes per month but I'm going to try and limit myself so I can work on the TBR. We will see how that goes.

message 316: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 6455 comments Mod
I think I am giving up on TBR control and just going with it. I have been reading so many more ebooks from the library this year so that has really changed things for me. I did manage to get rid of some when I moved though. And freebies are just there to be available whenever I need something so they dont really count.... lol

Awesome that you were able to get rid of so many good job!

Next year I do need to get back to reading physical copies though!

I've been reading a few ebooks but I just don't enjoy it as much. I prefer my paperbacks as you know.

Finished The Other Side of the Sky (The Other Side of the Sky, #1) by Amie Kaufman It was a bit slow to start but I loved it. It did have a super cliffhanger ending though. I can't wait for book 2.

I'm starting Roman and Jewel by Dana L. Davis I'm so excited for this one and I haven't been excited for a book for a while actually. This one sounds like the perfect read for me so I can't wait!

message 318: by Jo (new)

Jo Elliott | 1839 comments I'm not a e-book person either Kay, in fact I don't have a Kindle at all, the only e-copies I read are e-arcs from Netgalley, and that's just because they're easier to get than physical copies and it does save me some money as I tend not to buy the book if I've read the e-arc (unless it's buy a favourite author and I want the physical copy for my collection).

Blah clifhangers!

I don't have a kindle anymore either, I just read a lot on my phone. Easier to get library books and I can read between patients sometimes this way. Still prefer the feeling of an actual book in my hands though!

SAME!! I'm currently reading on my kindle but it's because it's eARCs. I only have my kindle for those ARCs. I can't read on my phone as it gives me headaches.

Jo Elliott | 1839 comments I've never even tried to read on my phone, I always read them on my laptop!

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) | 2304 comments Mod
The laptop does as well lol. It's because of the backlight, it sets my migraines off so I have a kindle for my eARCs.

message 323: by Jo (new)

Jo Elliott | 1839 comments That is totally fair! I'm prone to headaches, but thankfully they're not migraine level bad, so I'm okay reading off my laptop.

I do envy people who can. It would be so much easier for me if I could use my laptop and/or phone but I do like my kindle so it's all good :)

I turn the brightness way down on my phone and that helps for me. But I totally get it. At least you've got a kindle you like! :)

I do... even if I don't read it often LOL! Nothing beats a paperback/hardback for me haha.

I've finished reading Roman and Jewel by Dana L. Davis I absolutely loved it. There was a little bit of insta-love that I know will annoy some people but as it's mirroring the Romeo and Juliet tale I kinda felt like it fit well in this one. It was the perfect book for anyone who loves musical theatre.

I've also finished The Boss Who Stole Christmas (Reindeer Falls, #1) by Jana Aston If You Give A Jerk A Gingerbread (Reindeer Falls, #2) by Jana Aston - these are super cute, predicatable Christmas themed romance novellas. I've really been loving them.

Currently reading: The One Night Stand Before Christmas (Reindeer Falls, #3) by Jana Aston

Its that time of year for adorable contemporaries!

Good to hear you loved Roman and Jewel. Is the insta love done well? I agree it likely is fitting for a Romeo and Juliet retelling!

Yes, I think it's been done very well. It's done in a way that it mirrors Romeo and Juliet so it makes sense.

I finished The One Night Stand Before Christmas (Reindeer Falls, #3) by Jana Aston and absolutely loved it. Possibly my favourite of the three.

Also finished In the Time We Lost by Carrie Hope Fletcher - really enjoyed this one but I'm a bit sad at the ending. I hoped for more.

Just about to start The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary

I finished The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary ..... omg I loved it so so much. I don't think I've ever loved a romance book quite as much as this one it was so brilliant and perfect! I just want to start it all over again. I'll definitely be picking up more from this author in the future.

I'm reading One Perfect Christmas and Other Stories by Paige Toon and I'm almost finished with it. It's a book of short stories and I've read a few of them as ebooks over the years already so I'm just reading the ones I haven't read yet.
