I would say the Red Queen Series. The main character is Mare Barrows. She is super Stubborn and Fiery. She also is one hell of a fighter and can hold her own. She is very good at clap backs.

You might want to try pretty much anything by Lindsay Buroker (or Ruby Lionsdrake, her pen name for more romance-heavy books). She tends towards fantasy (but not traditional fantasy) and science fiction, and writes great heroines that fit your description. The Emperor's Edge series is her first series, and still my favorite: lots of humor, lots of action, very quirky characters, and an unorthodox romance.
