Alicia (diva2416) | 819 comments They are great, they put you in a silly mood. I may wait to get the movie until I read the rest of the books. I have a feeling I will be slightly disappointed in the movie I just have this voice of Georgia in my head and I don't want the movie to mess with it.

Did you like Knit the Season? I put it on my Christmas list.

message 419: by Jen B (new)

Jen B (jennybee618) It seems like I've been reading quite a few books lately that don't fit any tasks, but I finished two today that both do:

5.8 Queen of Babble in the Big City by Meg Cabot
This one has Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve in it. I actually liked this one better than the first one, and now I'm really looking forward to finishing the series.

10.6 The Stupidest Angel A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, Version 2.0 by Christopher Moore. This one has the word Christmas in the title. Very, um, interesting story to say the least. Not that it was bad -- I actually enjoyed it -- it just wasn't really what I had expected. But it's enough to make me want to read another of Christopher Moore's books.

I'm also moving On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God Further Confessions of Georgia Nicolson to 5.6 since so many of you have recommended this series. I enjoy it, but clearly not as much as a lot of you do -- it's humorous, but just alright for me.

That should bring me to...

Nadia A (bagambo) Tasks completed:

5.9 Finish It Up - I read The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry.

10.3 Yo Momma - I read Jumping Off Swings by Jo Knowles, which I think does involve parenting from a teen-aged mother's perspective and a single mother's perspective.

10.7 A Wedding Story - I read Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (Bella gets married in it and has a wedding so I thought it could count for this task - but not sure if it does)

10.8 Who Won? - I read Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult (was on Amazon's Customer's Top 100 books for 2009 - it's number 49 on the list).

15.3 Back to Back - I read Twilight and New Moon, both by Stephenie Meyer.

15.5 Its Enormous - I read Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer, which has 640 pages.

I liked it, it was a quick read. But I haven't read any of her other books yet, so it kinda seems like it picked up where they ended. I would have liked to know more back story. It definitely wasn't a good stand alone book to read.

Melanie, how was The Secret History? I've had that one for a long time, but it's one of those that's really long and has microscopic print, so it looks like it will take me forever to finish. I can't help but put it off!

10.3. Yo Momma!

Between the Holidays and work, I haven't been reading as much as I want to!

I audio booked this one on my way to and form work. It was OK, but at times unbelievable and repetitive. I am going to give one of her other books a try in book form, though. It might be better on a page then listening to it.

I listened to this on audiobook too, but I listened while I was at work. I really liked the book though and found myself trying to keep from reacting (laughing, gasping, etc.) out loud. :)

I liked it a lot - it was weird and the characters were very.... I don't know what word I want, but maybe old-fashioned? It took me a while to get a sense of when it was set. But the psychology behind it all was interesting and she ended it really well.

15.3 Slightly Married, Slightly Suburban - Wendy Markham

I don't know why I like these books so much. Tracey kinda annoys me after awhile. I was disappointed that she barely mentioned the wedding in Slightly Married. As for Slightly Suburban, it seemed like the theme of the book was about them moving out and leaving their friends behind...and being fine with that. I know it happens (and I've been there) but it still made me a little sad. Plus, I couldn't help but think--where does that leave me?? If we are all supposed to get married and move on with our lives, leaving our friends behind, what about those of us who are single?? It just made me sad. There is still something I like about this series though, despite all that.

50. Who, What, When, Where, How, and Why?

I was surprised by how much I liked these books- I read How to Meet Cute Boys first and really enjoyed it, and then couldn't make up my mind about which other "how" books to read, but I am glad that I stuck with these.

Funny enough- before I even knew what this challenge was going to be, I had picked up my first how book from the library. Only after I read the challenge and go to my bookshelf did I realize that it would fit into this category!

10.8 Who Won?

I picked this book up not knowing who Glen Beck was. Well I found out quickly that everyone has an opinion about him. I listened to this story mostly while getting my house ready for Christmas Eve festivities and when my friends came by to drop off some Christmas cookies, they saw that I was reading a Christmas book by Glen Beck. They were surprised, and I wondered why. Well, now I know...

I actually really enjoyed this story. The author informs you at the end of the story that parts of it were based in truth- not all of it, but parts of it. I enjoyed the fact that he took something that happened to him when he was a little boy and turned it into an entertaining story.
