I'd like to buddy read it! It'll be like in Northanger Abbey when Catherine read it with her friend and always told everyone about how exciting and absolutely horrifying this book is :)

Hi.
I've never heard of Dacre's book, but it looks very interesting, so count me in if you really want to start reading it.
I've read Genji, and I can recommend it to anyone. I don't think it will take you so much time, though, if you like psychology. I read it in two weeks, even though it doesn't have very much of a plot. What it says about society and the human soul is fascinating.

Timár_Krisztina | 113 comments Last year I got a bilingual copy of Les Cinq Livres des faits et dits de Gargantua et Pantagruel by François Rabelais. It's printed in both five-hundred-year-old French and modern French. I started reading it, but gave up after a few pages, because of the difficult vocabulary. (I'm Hungarian; English is my first foreign language; I started learning French as an adult.) In 2020 I'd like to get to the end. It might take a very long time, several months I think, but I want to do it.

Is there anyone who wants to join me? You can also read Rabelais in any other language. :) Or you can even say you only want to read one book or two books of the five, why not? I'm fine with all such possiblities. Just don't leave me alone please. :)

I had not heard of Zofloya: or The Moor either until I came across it on youtube. I don't remember whose channel it was who read it off the top of my head. I do want to read it this year. I'm probably going to wait until later in the year to read it though. I have a lot of reading planned for January already. Is there a month you may want to read it in?

I'd like to start my year with Gargantua and Pantagruel, or else I won't finish it in 2020 either. For me, everything comes after that, and it will take a long time. For you, I guess Genji will be the priority, which is about the same in length. So why not start Zofloya after both of us have finished? Some time around June or July?
