Over the years, I have read all the Kinsey Milhone series by Sue Grafton, other than the last two. So I read "X" and "Y is for yesterday." She died and asked that no one "finish" the alphabet for her, so I'm more than reasonably sure that I've read them all.
I read Tempest by Beverly Jenkins for this task. It's the third book in the trilogy and I'd previously read and loved the first two so I've been excited to get to it. It was super good, I loved it, and it was a great end to the trilogy.I don't double-dip, so I'll only be using it for this task, but it would also count as a romance with a single parent and a historical not set during WWII for any who may be interested.
I was looking for an appropriate selection for the task, and found something that may work for me at the airport, a Robin Hobb fantasy novel, not sure about the series off-hand.

@Sarah Tellman Veloz If you like thrillers, I would suggest The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson.
It is the final book in the Millenium Trilogy written by Larsson. David Lagercrantz has continued the series since Larsson's death, but he changed a lot of little things so that it doesn't feel like the same Lisbeth.
I read Let Me Go by Chelsea Cain for this. It's the last of six books in the Archie Sheridan and Gretchen Lowell series, and it's all left pretty open-ended. Maybe she'll write another one one day, but it doesn't seem like that's happening any time soon and that might be a good thing. They were decent enough thrillers, but it was all getting a little repetitive there.I started reading them last year, so only had to get through the last two to finish off this task.
So I accidentally did this last night - I read Jordan L Hawk's Deosil after rereading the previous 2 books. It was the grand conclusion of an 11 book series based on Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos and I love it all.
I read The Burning White by Brent Weeks. It was published back in October but I didn't get to it until last month. It's a great series, but the last was likely not my favorite book.
The final book of the Library of Alexandria came out last year so I was excited to finish it. Sword and Pen
I highly recommend All The Days Past, All The Days To Come by Mildred D. Taylor. This book is the conclusion of the saga of the Logan family made famous in the Newbery Medal winning Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. This book was just published on January 7, 2020 and is the last book in this Logan family series.

I read The Civil War, Vol. 3: Red River to Appomattox, the final entry into Shelby Foote's narrative non-fiction series on the American Civil War. A monolithic endeavour but worth it for anyone interested in that period of U.S. history.
I decided to read the entire Broken Earth series by N.K. Jemisin for this challenge. I've finished The Fifth Season and The Obelisk Gate so far, just need to read the last one.
I finished Finale for this, was just ok. It really felt like she didn't quite know how to wrap it up and just wanted to be done with it. so she forced and ending and called it good.
Would the prequel to the Hunger Games trilogy that is coming out next month in May count as the last book in the series?

I'm planning to read Parable of the Talents. I think that the preceding book in the series Parable of the Sower is about a climate change catastrophe.

I'm counting Parable of the Talents, which is the last of a two-book series.
Another idea: With Her in Ourland is the last book in a feminist utopian trilogy by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

i would definitely say no. its an actual historical chronicle so you need to start with Wolf Hall or you won't understand the whole
Party of Two by Jasmine Guillory was just released. It's the last book in the Wedding Date series so far.... Do you think it counts?
I read Fake Truth, the third and last in the Ian Ludlow Thriller series. The series kind of pokes fun at the thriller genre, so it's ridiculous, which can be hilarious.
Do y'all think Akata warrior counts? There's only two books in the series so not sure
I think there is a third one planned, at least. So series isn’t compete. I personally would t count it. Her Binti series is complete though, and the first two are pretty short. Could get through them fairly quickly to get to the Night Masquerade

Do we think that Midnight Sun counts as the last book in a series, or is it a standalone of its own?
I have been finished for a while, but I keep adding books that fit the prompts. I figured it might help to post what I read for the various categories for people who might have a prompt or two left. For this I read a lot of (but not all) romance since so many are series books. 9

I read an advanced digital copy of Death and the Maiden by Samantha Norman (and Ariana Franklin, who started the series) for this prompt.
I am running out of time so think I will count the 4th book of the Roxanne Weary detective series, Once You Go This Far by Kristen Lepionka. As of right now, I believe that the publisher has not optioned a next book in the series. I started reading these murder mysteries for the Read Harder Challenge (mystery by a LGBTQ+ author) and really enjoy them!
