Emergency Contact
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4468906/...
The Vault
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1785635/...

My method was (like many others here) to go through my TBR and just put titles into IMDB and see if something came up. I already have loads of options :)
Amy J. wrote: "I'm excited to see that there's a TV show on Scify called Dark Matter, which is a book I just added on to November's BOM box. Dark Matter by Blake Crouch[bookcover..."
There's also [book:Dark Matter|8350864], which is unrelated to either!
I really enjoyed Southern Lady Code by Helen Ellis so I think I'll do American Housewife for this one.
I found a bunch on my TBR (confirmed movie status with IMDB but not bothering to link to that here :) )
The Deep
The Deep
Exhalation: Stories
Echo
The Hunger
The Huntress
The Immortalists
The Last One
The Lost Man
The Rose Garden
I thought this might be difficult, then I went back to finishing my book Night Shift. Then when I went to find the link, it dawned on me that there was a TV show by that name, and that there are A LOT of books by that name.
Way more options than I expected! Some I haven't seen others mention:
Little Fish vs. Cate Blanchett movie set in Australia
Slay vs. tv movie about a social media star
The Lost Coast vs. movie where old high school friends wander SF
Into the Wild vs. movie based on the Jon Krakauer book
Radio Silence vs. tv movie about a radio host & an on-air call
The City of Brass vs. short about the sale of Arabian Nights
Mirage vs. Spanish movie involving storms
Decoded vs. reality tv show about historical mysteries
The Woman Next Door vs. French film about ex-lovers as neighbors
The Nine vs. tv show about about bank hold-up survivors
Spectacle vs. 2020 movie without description, but obviously not historical fiction
Bridge of Time vs. tv movie about " the Shangri-La tale with a new age/millennial twist"
Planetfall vs. A spaghetti western in science fiction clothing
Rosewater vs. movie based on Maziar Bahari's memoir
Noir vs. anime about female assassins
Passing Strange vs. the film of the Broadway show
Dark Things vs. show with a supernatural being named Gerald
Tender vs. a short about a bad luck $10 bill
Invisible Man vs. a horror film about a woman being hunted
Legend vs. the Ridley Scott film with a very young Tom Cruise
Heartless vs. horror film about a man with a heart-shaped birthmark

oh there's a few books on my TBR there that I did not know would work for this. Thanks! Another "Radio Silence" (there are A LOT of them!) is a dystopian romance by Alyssa Cole: Radio Silence

If I don't read Moloka'i this year, then I will probably use that suggestion. Otherwise, I plan to reread my VC Andrews collection next year, and a quick random check already found a few that work:Lightning Strikes, IMDB
Eye of the Storm, IMDB
Darkest Hour, IMDB
Nora Roberts has a book called Year One (so does Ramsey Beyer, apparently). Neither one of them has anything to do with the Jack Black/Michael Cera film. :P

Our House is great SarahKat and it would make a great film!
I'm going for The Great Escape I think since I have it already.

Thank you so much. I have Wonder on my to read list but I didn't have any on the list one although I have read 3 of them.
All from my TBR and don't think I saw mentioned here:The Guardians by John Grisham
Sadie by Courtney Summers
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
IQ by Joe Ide
The One by John Marrs
End of Watch by Stephen King
Just looked at my TBR and I have a book called The Winter Soldier. No relation to the Captain America franchise!
There are quite a few books called Wicked that have nothing to do with the Wicked that turned into the major Broadway hit that turned into the movie. I know because I'm reading the actual Broadway Wicked right now and finding it in my library's on-line system was a nightmare!
While I'm glad we're getting something besides the same "book becoming a movie" prompt, it seems like this past year was a bit of an underperformer for adaptations. I just found this list for upcoming movies and TV show adaptations in 2020, and it just proves that some years are better than others: https://the-bibliofile.com/2020-books...
I thought this prompt would be really hard but it was super easy! I queried a few books that sounded like good movie titles and sure enough, I found a movie! Whichever one I pick, I will try to watch the movie also, if it's available.Me by Elton John
World Without End by Ken Follett
Edge of Eternity by Ken Follett
The Cave by Jose Saramago
Away by Jane Urquhart
Away by Amy Bloom
The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad (There is a movie and mini-series based on the book but there is also a 1936 movie, completely unrelated.)
Ellie wrote: "If you're stumped, just search one word titles in imdb and there will probably be an obscure or terrible film with the same name! This might be a chance for me to read Hostage."
This is an excellent suggestion. Thanks
I will probably go with
at least that's what I think now. I tend to change my mind a number of times during the year
After seeing The Farm on the listopia list I started to stress out if I can use original title instead of the one of my edition. I planned for next year to read The Farm but my library has only the German edition and it has a very different title Ohne jeden Zweifel lit. Without a Doubt (or Beyond a Doubt) and thought then that sounds somehow familar and went to IMDB and found one with this title :-) Ohne jeden Zweifel (1981) - original title: Beyond Reasonable Doubt how cool is that :-) !?!Tania wrote: "If I don't read Moloka'i this year, then I will probably use that suggestion. Eye of the Storm & IQ are great ideas as well, thank you! I'll keep them in mind just in case.
Darci wrote: "I'm going with Madam Secretary: A Memoir. There was a TV show with the name a while back."The show is actually still on, though in its last season.
The Circle is ALSO a really good YA series about witches, which got turned into a movie. So, you could read either the Eggers version or this one.
For people looking for historical and/or literary fiction:Vindication by Frances Sherwood--historical fiction about Mary Wollstonecraft vs. horror movie and faith-based detective tv series
The Road Home by Rose Tremain -- literary fiction about Polish emigrant to the UK vs. Chinese movie from 1999
Love is Blind -- historical/lit fic by William Boyd vs. current Chloe Sevigny movie.
Another way of doing it is taking a book you know has been made into a movie, and see if there are any other books of the same name (I think there was a prompt like that last year, read two books that have the same name?).My suggestion is Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde. It is missing the word Fifty, so it doesn't completely count, but it depends how far you feel comfortable bending the prompts (I shamelessly bend prompts sometimes)
Rachael wrote: "Another way of doing it is taking a book you know has been made into a movie, and see if there are any other books of the same name (I think there was a prompt like that last year, read two books t..."I love Shades of Grey and the other book that shall not be mentioned makes it so hard to search for anything about it! Definitely fits the spirit of the challenge.
I'm going with The Changeling, because of the Angelina Jolie film Changeling. Bonus, I've actually seen the film!
Looks like there are a few books titled Them. There is a movie from 2007 with the same name. It might be a stretch, but Them. by Joyce Carol Oates and a movie called Them! from 1957.
I've decided to choose "Child's Play" , obviously it's a movie but turns out it is also a Danielle Steel book that took an interest to me.
K.L. wrote: "Kendra wrote: "I thought this might be difficult, then I went back to finishing my book Night Shift. Then when I went to find the link, it dawned on me that there was a TV show by t..."Night Shift is also a Stephen King book with short stories.
Wow, did I get lucky on this prompt! I loved The Flatshare, which came out this year, so I had the author's next book (which comes out in 2020) on my TBR. The new book is called The Switch, and I recalled (maybe not enjoying??) a movie of the same name with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman. Also, I stumbled upon a plethora of novels with that name if anyone needs inspiration. The Switch
The Switch
The Switch
The Switch
Im going to go on a limb and have The Ghost also the translated titles of several foreign horror movies
I think Good Omens needs to be removed from the list. The only show I can find matching that name is the actual adaptation of the book.

I'm just going to use this to continue reading the Dresden series Blood Rites, even though I'm getting SO TIRED of him describing how distracted he gets by women's bodies. STAAHP.
Christina wrote: "I'm just going to use this to continue reading the Dresden series Blood Rites, even though I'm getting SO TIRED of him describing how distracted he gets by women's bodies. STAAHP."haha this is the mood
I got as far as Dresden book 4 which was like
- Dresden is approached by a beautiful woman who needs his help
- Dresden goes to the wizard conference
- Dresden comes home and is approached by another beautiful woman who needs his help
...and at that point I just kinda lost patience and put it down.
I might get back to it someday (I'm told the series gets better as it goes) but my TBR is long, you know?

I added Invictus a few years ago because I thought it was based on the movie (about the South African rugby team), and thought that it still looked interesting. You could see if your favorite movie or show has something similar.
