I've finished my 11th book in this interesting Summer Challenge. As mentioned in previous posts, I have a determination to read some of the great classics of Australian literature, and so for this part of the challenge, I tackled a famous Australian play. It was refreshing to read a different genre of book, and the story behind this drama gave me much food for thought.#8: Summer in the title or book set in summer
Summer of the Seventeenth Doll by Ray Lawler 3★s

One of my favourite reads of 2014, Kira, and such a mature effort from a first time novelist. It is a terrific book - glad you enjoyed it so much, as did I.
Have finished #1M-Mum's The Word, mildly amusing and somewhat predictable. Now on to #3 Australian authors-Australian Poltergeist, because who can resist the subtitle The Stone Throwing Spook of Humpty Doo
I've finished my summer read, Golden Boys which was very well written although the ending annoyed me a little.I am now onto my new release by John Birmingham, Emergence which has me hooked already :o)
While I am 40,000 feet up flying home (and in business class from a free upgrade!), I finished my seventeenth book, The Eyes of the Dragon, with my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....I have made a start on my next book, my first 1d. Spell it Out (M), The Well of Ascension.
Finished my 9th # 5 - Literature Map: Dark Horse by Honey Brown My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Steve wrote: "While I am 40,000 feet up flying home (and in business class from a free upgrade!), I finished my seventeenth book, The Eyes of the Dragon, with my review: https://www.goodreads.com/re..."Way to go Steve!! ;)
I have just finished my historical fiction The Signature of All Things 3.5★ It is hard to say why I neither loved nor hated this book. The language was beautiful, images vivid but I find this kind of literature slightly depressing and in all honesty is probably why I stopped reading so much of it many years ago.I have changed my Australia Day book to True Spirit: The Aussie girl who took on the world as I wanted to read a non fiction title for this one and I was finding Anzac Girls a little hard to settle into. So far, so good.
I read Kinglake-350 by Adrian Hyland as my #8.Summer in Australia book. It was a terrifically well written account of the Black Saturday bushfire in Victoria in 2009 - very compelling reading, quite gripping and also emotional to read about what people went through during that horrific time. 5★

Currently reading my last book of the challenge: The RoadI was able to put up my review of Bloodlines because it's now been released!! ★★★★★ book, but it's the last of a trilogy, I know the first book is on sale for 99c for a short time if you like crime. This is by a female Aussie author, so it'd fit for your AWW challenge or the Australian Author Challenge. :) I can't recommend these books enough.

I am happy so long as I read more books than I usually do per month. Challenges just help to give me a push.

I finished my challenge on a doozy!!The Road★
I'd give it negative stars if I could. I kept reading hoping it'd get better... that I'd find something good to say about it. The only thing good is that it was relatively short.
