I read The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary which I mail ordered from an independent bookstore as we began the quarantine. I needed something uplifting, which it was, althrough there are some heavier issues worked into the plot.
1. What are you reading for this category?
2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt? I'm not sure where I stumbled across this, but it fit several prompts from different challenges and I could download it through Libby.
1. What are you reading for this category? The Weekend, by Charlotte Wood
2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt?
It was a little hard, but this one was suggested by my book club.
What did you read for this prompt? The Hideaway by Lauren K. Denton. Was it hard to find a book for this prompt? Yes it was hard. Luckily I was searching for my next read on Hoopla & saw it.
I read The Woman. There were a lot of choices for this prompt, but I have had this book for awhile and finally read it.
I am re-reading, after several decades, The Stand by Stephen King. I have lots of other options if I don’t use this one.
I read The Flatshare and I actually wasn't thinking about how it would fit this prompt until I was nearly done with it. So I guess it wasn't that hard for me to fill the prompt.
For this prompt I started with The Luminaries but couldn't get into it, considered The Outsiders but I might put that in the classic book always meant to read prompt, and now I'm currently reading
The Godfather by Mario Puzo for this and I think I'll stick with it. I'm only about 30 pages in but I really like it so far. I haven't seen the movie yet and even though the movie is in a lot of "must-see" lists, I read somewhere that the book is still better than the movie, so here I am.
1. What are you reading for this category? I read The Cactus.
2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt?
I had numerous options on my to-be-read list for this prompt. I'm not sure why I ended up choosing this one. It had been on my list for a while.
I just finished The Wives for this category. it was a fast- paced easy read and the category was one of the easiest I though as I had tons of books that were two words with 'The' first!
The StandBelieve it or not, there was only one book on my TBR list that fit this prompt. And reading it during our current pandemic was ... interesting.
I've chosen to read The Guardians by John Grisham. This prompt was a bit difficult for me to find a book for but I have never read Joh Grisham so it was an easy choice once I saw it.
I read The Trespasser by Tana French for this one. That was the last Tana French book I hadn't read yet, but lucky for me she has a new one out in October called The Searcher. Maybe I'll slot that one into the "mystery" or "400-600 pages" category. She's one of the few authors that I will read anything she writes.I didn't have a hard time finding a book for this category. The Overstory and The Terror were on my shortlist, along with about a dozen other titles.
I read The Virgins by Pamela Erens. There were plenty of other choices for this prompt, but I chose the book because it had been on my TBR shelf for a while.
1. What are you reading for this category? The Confession2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt? No, I had several that would have fit this prompt. I was going to read The Help but I needed some help catching up in the challenge so I went with an audio book. The Confession was a good audio book to listen to.
I'm currently making my way through The Gene: An Intimate History by Siddhartha Mukherjee for this prompt (ignoring the subtitle). It definitely lives up to its name: it's a very detailed history of science book about the development of the idea of the gene. It's a bit dense (lots of names to keep track of!) but I'm learning a lot and it's got tons of fascinating information. It wasn't too hard to find a book, except for the fact that it's impossible to sort the goodreads TBR lists to find titles that start with "the"!
1. What are you reading for this category?I read The Dry by Jane Harper
2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt? Unfortunately, not at all. I already owned way too many that I hadn't read. It was, however, hard to pick which one to read.
1. What are you reading for this category? The Unpassing2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt? No, I had so many on my TBR
1. What are you reading for this category? The Chouans by Honoré de Balzac
2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt?
Not really. I didn't have a book for this prompt, but after reading another of Balzac's books, I wanted to read The Chouans, and it nicely fit this prompt.
This was surprisingly hard for me to find for my 2nd go-round this year. I thought I would read The Power because it has been on my shelf for a year or more but I started it and found it too dark. So I switched to the French book Les Fourmis, which means The Ants, and that turned out to be really creepy. I made myself finish it because I needed it for 2 different challenges but I don't recommend it.
1. What are you reading for this category?I read The Shadows.
2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt?
No, I also read The Switch, The Bees, and The Original, and I had several more on my TBR to choose from.
For this task, I read The Binding by Bridget Collins. It was not difficult to find a book of interest to satisfy this prompt's requirement. In fact, I still have The Unseen, The Alienist, The Idiot, and several more on my shelf!

The Dinner by Herman Koch
2. Was it hard to find a book to fit this prompt?
Nope. I had at least 15 on my TBR that fit this prompt.
I ended up rating this book 3 stars. Very mediocre and not nearly as thrilling as I was expecting.
