Dwayne Kavanagh | 4 comments Hi everyone!

My book is about to hit the stores and my PR person has some great ideas on how to promote it. I'm wondering what has worked for other Authors? In two days on this site I've found a treasure chest full of helpful tips. The writers have been supportive, which is refreshing! If you have any helpful tips on how to spread the word, please post them.

Cheers,
D

Susan Gottfried (westofmars) | 16 comments Network. Make lots of friends who'll review your book or host you for a guest blog post or interview.

And remember, remember, remember: whatever you say here is permanent. Always put your best face forward. (Do that offline, too. A little bit of graciousness always carries a person a long way)

And congratulations on your upcoming release, Dwayne!

Sharon (fiona64) Hi, Dwayne. In addition to everything else mentioned here, I highly recommend Twitter (follow @Successbooks and PM them with the info about your book; they'll share it with their extensive list) and Facebook (create a fan page). The more social networking you can include in your platform, the better.

Also, if there is some group or organization that is related to your book in any way, promote it to that group. In the case of my novel, In The Eye of The Beholder A Novel of The Phantom of the Opera, I promoted to Phantom of the Opera fans. With my memoir, Les Pensees Dangereuses, I am promoting to those who enjoy memoirs but also planning promotions to groups dealing with depression.

Creating a platform is tricky in some ways. Even those with major imprint publishing are finding themselves in the position of having to promote their own books nowadays and sales are slow for everyone. Just keep at it, bit by bit. :-)

Dwayne Kavanagh | 4 comments Quick question... how do you PM successbooks? I added them on twitter. Where do I find the link to send them my info?

Thanks,

Dwayne

Susan Gottfried (westofmars) | 16 comments Use the Direct Message feature on Twitter, I'd suspect.
