Andrea | 456 comments I read The Gathering by Anne Enright for this prompt. It satisfied #35: An award-winning book (2007 Man Booker Prize) listed in 2016's challenge. I selected this task because it appeared in the first year of the challenge, and I also wanted to read Enright's work before delving into her recently released and highly touted book Actress.

In 2016, I read The Sympathizer Viet Thanh Nguyen for this task! Is it any wonder why I love this challenge and keep returning?

message 53: by Marie (new)

Marie | 1060 comments I read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher for 2019's A book with one of the five Ws in the title. Title prompts are one of my favourite types of prompt, and I really wanted to read this book, so it was an easy choice.

3. How did you decide which prompt to choose?
I had gotten bogged down in life and could not get myself to read anything (reader's block-I found out) so I found to books that I was really interested to help me get past the blockage. They were both very good and helped, then I found two prompts they would fit into. Hopefully I am back on track to finish up the rest of the prompts.

Alesha (musicgal17) | 39 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo

2. Which prompt did it fit? Which year?
2019's #47: A book related to food (i.e. title, cover, plot, etc.)

3. How did you decide which prompt to choose?
I looked through all of the prompts and wrote down a list of all of the ones I thought were the most interesting. (I ended up with a list of 12.) Then, I went through my TBR to see if any of my books fit the prompts I chose. With the Fire on High was a natural fit and one that I had been looking forward to reading for a while.

LOVED this book. 5 stars. (Also one of my all-time favorite book covers!)

Suzanne | 349 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie

2. Which prompt did it fit? Which year?
From 2016: An award-winning book. It won the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2018.

3. How did you decide which prompt to choose?
I had this book on my to-be-read list for a while and was looking for a prompt that it would fit. It turns out that the story is a retelling of Antigone, but I did not discover this until after I finished it.

message 60: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (ronireads13) | 816 comments I read Hunted by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. It fits a few prompts, but I chose 2016 - The next book in a series you are reading. This is the next book in the House of Night series so it fits well. It can also fit for the prompt A YA Book and a book about a myth (vampires) among others.

I read Nothing to See Here

Since it's a book about kids who spontaneously catch on fire.... I chose 2018's books linked by the 4 elements: Book #2 Fire

I didn't have a place for this book, so I looked for a prompt which would fit it and this week won!

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?

Evvie Drake Starts Over

2. Which prompt did it fit? Which year?

It meets the 2016 ATY prompt 21. A book from the Goodreads Recommendations page (May 20-26).

3. How did you decide which prompt to choose?

I wanted to do a prompt that I had not gotten to in its original year, so I went back through my challenges and decided on this one. And the book I chose to read from the Recommendations page was one I had been meaning to add to my Want to Read shelf, but had not gotten around to doing so. So it felt serendipitous.

message 63: by Sarah (last edited Jun 29, 2020 12:24PM) (new)

Sarah (prairielily) | 177 comments My prompt was from 2017, #51. A collection (e.g. essays, short stories, poetry, plays).

I read 13: Thirteen Stories That Capture the Agony and Ecstasy of Being Thirteen edited by James Howe.

I am doing a lot of reading for the next school year and am just trying to slide things into categories.

Trying to find a class set of this book. Very well done.

Emily 13. A Prompt From a Previous Around the Year in 52 Books Challenge: A Book with One of the Five Ws in the Title (2019): Where She Left by Gayle Forman

I browsed through the 2019 list and this prompt just caught my eye and I knew of two books, this one and Thirteen Reasons Why that would fit right away!

Where She Went' picks up three years after 'If I Stay' finished off with Mia swiftly becoming Juilliard's cello star and Adam a rockstar with his band Shooting Stars, then fate has them cross paths again.

message 65: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleym99) I read Outlander for a book that takes place on a different continent. This was one of the book I wanted to read this year and it fit this prompt.

message 66: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tracky75) | 49 comments I am going with a prompt from 2016, the next book in a series you are reading. I read As You Are by favorite author Sarah M. Eden. I'm almost always reading one series or another, so this seems like a good, and more importantly, easy, fit.
