It was a children's picture book, hardcover when we had it years ago (it's at least 20 years old). The book is about a duck and I THINK two friends rescuing his brother egg after a chef from a diner steals it to cook. I do remember at the end the egg hatches and the sibling turns out to be a sister.

I'm going to put a few things here because I'm not sure if I'm actually remembering them correctly.

-I believe his name was Ducky or Ducky Something
-I believe he skateboarded
-I believe his two friends where not ducks
-I believe the chef was a weasel

I'm pretty sure it was a duck, but it honestly could be another type of bird.

Nope, no humans. It was a very human world (truck/stove that kind of thing) but it was all anthropomorphized animals.
