Tracy K's 2020 Apocalypse Challenge
I recently, listened to The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly. It was a random library book I checked out to listen to. I enjoyed both the story and the narrator.
The Night Tiger is one of the books I'm most looking forward to next year. It will likely be one of my first books if I can get a copy from my library.
It’s great to see your 2020 plan Tracy. I was thinking the other day I hadn’t seen you post here much lately. Hope you’re doing okay and that 2020 will be a better reading year for you. :-)

Good to hear you enjoyed it.
Tanvi wrote: "Looks great, Traci! What’s RWC?"Tanvi, RWC is Reading Women Challenge, a yearly challenge where you read books by/about women :-)
There is a group here on GR's for this. I planned it for this year but didn't even start it. This challenge year was a bust, LOL.
Rachel wrote: "The Forgetting Time is great! It's too bad it's so unknown."Rachel,
Good to hear!! This one has been sitting on my Kindle FOREVER. Not sure why it was the first one that came to mind, but now I'm excited to finally read it. I just need some of your mojo, LOL. I wish I could fly through books like you do.
MJ wrote: "I added The Girl Who Smiled Beads to my tbr. And I discovered Jane Harper this year. So good."
Hey MJ , Happy you're still here :-)
I've had The Girl Who Smiled Beads on my radar for awhile.
I loved The Dry by Jane Harper and had Forces of Nature on my list for this year but didn't get to it. I really like her writing too. A good new find.
Peter wrote: "The Night Tiger is one of the books I'm most looking forward to next year. It will likely be one of my first books if I can get a copy from my library."Right???? Such good reviews! I'm excited about this one too.
I have The Ghost Bride on my kindle too, but I haven't read this author yet. Hoping I'm pleasantly surprised.

I appreciate you checking in with me. We are still struggling a lot but hopefully things will calm down soon.

Thanks so much. I miss interacting with you and the rest of the group. You guys are my New Years Resolution this year. I think some bibliotherapy is just what I need at this point.

The Things She's Seen
You have so many great books on your plans for this year - I loved Rebecca so much that I went and bought my own copy after taking the one I read back to the library. I also really enjoyed I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer, but I found reading it just before I went to sleep wasn’t such a good idea! We’ve got quite a few of the same books on our plans for this year, so it will be interesting to see your thoughts on them.
OMG the chook book!! I raved about it (The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly) to anyone who would listen (and those who wouldn’t to be fair) when I read it in 2015. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking.
Hannah wrote: "You have so many great books on your plans for this year - I loved Rebecca so much that I went and bought my own copy after taking the one I read back to the library. ..."Thanks Hannah! Rebecca is one of my all time favorites, so it will be a re-read for me this year. It's one of a few books that I've probably read at least 5 times so far, I love it!! The audio version is amazing too ( and I dont do audio).
I started I'll be Gone in the Dark for my challenges this year, but wasn't able to finish and had to return it, so I'm excited for that one also.
I'll have to check out your plan. I'm determined to start reading again this year, so I'm really excited to talk books with everyone :-)
Jody wrote: "OMG the chook book!! I raved about it (The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly) to anyone who would listen (and those who wouldn’t to be fair) when I read it in 2015. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking."Haha Jody "The Chook Book" ....did you make that up??!! I am so excited to read this one I might just read it in January...I've seen quite a few readers here in ATY that loved it. I was totally sold when I saw it was compared to Charlottes Web because you know....Charlottes Web.... so much better than f*ing Stuart Little LOL ;-) There was never a mouse who was more of an A Hole.
lol yes, that's my nickname for it! It was a totally random find for me, the little local library that used to be across the road had it out on display so I took it out. I read it in one sitting (in another library) which was a terrible idea because it was absolutely heartbreaking - definitely a warning, as a mum, it hits hard. I came home and immediately ordered my own copy, I loved it so much! It really is like a Korean Charlotte's Web. Let's forget that Stuart Little exists ...

Iris wrote: "Love the optimism in your thread title - may 2020 be a fab reading year indeed! Also thanks for making me curious about the hen book. :)"Thanks Iris!! If I didn't try and be optimistic I'd crawl in bed and cry. It was a rough year that took over my challenge, so it's the first year I haven't finished ( or really even read much). I am definitely looking forward to getting back into it.
Hope you can get your hands on the hen book, LOL. I'm about to put it in my first round of library requests and thats where I'm starting. Enjoy your reading year :-)

I really love talking books with everyone too! Unfortunately hardly any of my friends ever read, my Mum doesn't read much and whilst my Dad and my sister read lots, we have very different tastes. One of my colleagues is a big reader as well, and she is really the only person I talk books with in real life.
Woot! finished my first book of the year. Lets see how long it takes me to fizzle out this time, lol. Good luck everyone!

Happy New Year and keep up the momentum everyone! 💪🏻
Ha! Jenna I always wish there was a like button, too ;-)One more down.... I was able to find a copy of The Old Man and the Sea on the internet archives ( like a free library) and get my classic out of the way.
MJ we've got this!!!!!
Looks like we have a few books in common! I'm planning to read Whisper Network, Ninth House, and The Starless Sea too.

I am soooooo bored of being home alone in quarantine that I actually reformatted my challenge lists into categories:1. Books Completed
2. Books in progress/out from the library
3. Books that I don't own that I need to order from the library ( if the apocalypse ever ends and the library reopens)
4. Books that I own at home or on kindle
It has also helped in my efforts to avoid spring cleaning :-)
In retrospect this was a genius move and makes it easy to move things where I need them, figure out what I need to order and what I already have, and cross things off the list. I will now be doing this every year.
March Update!!!! I fell off at the end of the month and I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up this pace through April. Things are so crazy right now. But Woot! still ahead on my goals :-)ATY
