Going Dutch by Katie Fforde
By Katie Fforde

Read: 19th Dec 2015
Rating; 3 stars

Review:

Dora ditches her fiance and runs away to live on a barge in Thames with her best friend's mom Jo. She had also recently split up from her husband. Both women need to learn to become more independent, to stand on their own two feet and to leave their fears behind while they take their boat to Holland for repairs.

This was a light-hearted and romantic read like Katie Fforde books usually are. It was not my all time favorite of hers but I loved that it was set on a house boat. I liked the two main characters and their journey to find themselves. I love how Katie Fforde comes up with these interesting plots and situations and I'm always intrigued how things will turn out for the characters not only romantically but also where they'll end up and how they grow. Another feel good book for me.

Head Over Heels (Lucky Harbor, #3) by Jill Shalvis

3rd in series

Rate: 5 stars

Review: well there is nothing but chemistry in this book! I love how the story continues on with Chloe...the youngest of the three sisters.. I only wonder now where will the story go from here...as there are several more books.

Chloe and Sheriff Thompson really hit it off..and you can feel the sparks fly from the moment the story begins. Chloe being asthmatic, is always living life on the edge...and always manages to get away with her infractions...she is also always baiting Sawyer...the sheriff :) both are equally afraid of any kind of relationship, and of course chloe's sisters are very protective of her.

Review: well I didn't know where this story would go..at all! after the sisters were set...but then it continues in the same thread...in th town itself....some characters previously mentioned..like "Mysterious Cute Guy" who if I remember..Chloe had hung out with on rare occaisions. then Sheriff Sawyer Thopmson makes his appearance as the steady force of calm. The diner "Eat Me" plays a centrl role in this story, much like the Inn did in the first 3 books. I love how no matter how discreet you think you are...in this town, here is always someone watching...and here are no secrets! Can't wait to get to the next book now!

Completed: 12/24/14
Rating: **

Review: Unfortunately, I did not care for this book. Maybe I wasn't in the mood but I thought it was slow moving and I didn't feel there was a connection between the characters.

Devon goes home to attend the wedding of her ex boyfriend,Josh to her ex friend, Ally. The wedding does not happen because Ally runs away with another man. Josh goes to look for her with the help of Devon and they go to the inn where Josh and Ally where suppose to spend their wedding night. As time passes, Josh begins to question his feelings for Devon and why things ended. They become involved and head back to their hometown, but has anything really been resolved between them? Can they be a couple?

Read: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Completed: 12/28/14
Rating: ****

Review: I loved this book! I can say I would definitely read anything written by Colleen Hoover. I could not put the book down, I wanted to know WHY?!!

Tate moves in with her brother and has a run in with her neighbor, Miles, the very first night. As their runs continue, they realize they are mutually attracted to each other. They decide to have a sexual relationship, but with 2 rules from Miles: 1. Don't ask about the past and 2. Don't expect a future.
Tate believes that she can follow these rules, but as Miles love Tate?

An interesting part of the book is that every other chapter was Miles, 6 years in the past. The lead up to what happens, the cause for Miles being the way he is(closed off and unable to love and accept love), is what kept me reading until 2 a.m.

Review:
This is a story of a young woman called Isabella and her group of friends trying to find their place in this world and love of course. It is set in the point of their lives when they are moving on their own after graduation and pursuing their dreams.

I just did not get inti this book, no matter how hard I tried. The characters were nice enough and the plot was okay, but the style of writing put me off. It felt very simplistic. Short sentences and the names of characters were repeated in every sentence. The story was divided between Isabella and her friends, but you never really knew who these girls were besides Isabella herself and it made it hard to really feel for them or get to know them. The whe book felt very fragmented and I strugglef to finish it. Not my cup of tea.

Review:
The book is a love letter to all the boys Lara Jean has loved before. She has never openly admitted to loving them but instead wrote a letter to each one, sealed it and put it in the hat box. She claims she wrote until she didn't love anymore or at least that used to work.

I loved this book. It grabbed my attention immediately and reminded me of myself in Lara's age. I could not put it down and needed to know what would happen next. Great read!

And thanks guys for this round! I loved reading with you! Happy New Year!

I read Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson, #4) by Darynda Jones
Finished- 12/27
Rating 4 stars

Review-
In this installment of the Charley Davidson series Charley is n recovery mode: from her dad's perceived betrayal, from Earl's torture and her near death, and from her separation from Reyes after she bonded him to his corporeal body (which he saw as a betrayal). She is in a deep depression and fearful state, unknowingly drawing the demons that want to kill her closer with her fear. So it's been tough! And with Charley not leaving her apartment no money coming in either. So when a new client comes to call Charley is compelled to go back out into the land of the living and face the world again. Which o course opens the door to all the chaos waiting out there.
In this installment she is hired to find out who is threatening the life of the daughter of a wealthy socialite, a situation that may have been going on for years and dismissed as childhood manipulation or just plain insanity- but Charley believes her and is after the truth. Her relationship with the Son of Satan changes as they continue their 'love hate' thing and bond even more, Reyes sharing more information about where they are both from and 'the reason' they are drawn together, all while fighting the demons that are here to apprehend Charley . She must also deal with her human family and friends- her prominent issue being the relationship with her father, who may or may not be facing his own demise. She is also starting to realize she has powers she must understand in order to protect herself and her loved ones from the evil that follows her.

I really liked this one- the development of Charley as she comes into her destiny was pretty cool. And there was a twist to the story that I didn't see coming- I love when that happens! And the humor continued- yes sometimes corny as others have claimed but I'm okay with it. It's light and clever.
The one thing I agree with critics about is her naming things ad nauseam- it did get to be a bit much in this one. But that's okay- still a fun read.

I read Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer
Finished 12/31/14
Rating- 4 stars

Review-
An incredible twist on the Cinderella tale which incorporates all the original elements into a futuristic setting- including cyborgs and interplanetary politics! CInder is a lowly cyborg adopted into a family who doesn't want her around- unless she's being useful and bringing in money as she is the best mechanic in New Beijing. When the plague- or letumosis- reaches inside the palace of New Beijing and takes the Emperor, the Eastern Commonwealth is left vulnerable to the takeover from the evil Lunars- the magical narcissistic inhabitants of the moon who want to strike an alliance with the new emperor through marriage to extend their power down on Earth. Cinder finds herself vital to the survival of Earthen creatures in the most shocking way imaginable- that she has been a pawn in an intergalactic power struggle and the survival of the planet rests on here shoulders...
I really enjoyed this book- the concept was amazing. I wasn't sure if I could get into the whole futuristic cyborg thing but I got really into it! The post World War IV setting was so interesting and imaginative and the story carried through strong too. It all connected and made for an exciting and interesting read. It seems silly to say that the there were unrealistic moments in this wholly fantastical novel but there were. Cinder and Prince Kai (the two cogs in the the survival of the planet) do 'happen' to meet up constantly and immediately hit it off- among 200,000 eligible women vying for the Prince's attention, he only has eyes for the mechanic who he courts with fervency during a time of grieving and political turmoil- ahh young love!! But I could forgive this since the story was so interesting and fun to read.

Read: The Heist (Fox and O'Hare #1) by Janet Evanovich
Completed: 1/3/15
Rating: ****

Review: I loved it, I am mad at myself for waiting so long to read this book!

Kate O'Hare is a FBI agent trying to capture Nick Fox, a charming con man. She does catch him and what happens next, sets up the rest of the book and I assume, the rest of the series. Nick ends up escaping capture and Kate goes on her own to catch him again. Little does Kate know but Nick has been given a chance, by the FBI, to help capture some of the people on the FBI's Most Wanted list. Kate ends up finding this out and reluctantly agrees to help. The rest of this story is about them setting up a con to capture an investment banker who stole $500 million and is hiding on his island in Indonesia.

I will definitely be reading the rest of this series.
