Ooo y'all lucky to be reading this one for the first time. It was one of the early books that got me into horror.

Terry | 5364 comments Great to hear, Alan.

If it weren't for the facts that, my TBR list just had a setback due to my successful library sales last week, and the I would have to go dig through I dunno how many boxes to find my F. Paul Wilson books, I would so consider re-reading this one with y'all.

Damn that TBR list Alan! Wish you could do a re-read with us but I get it. Too many books and not enough time!

Well, make sure you pop in every once in awhile while we're reading this. I'm sure you'll love the spoilers if nothing else. :D

I was about to be a wise guy and say I'll pop in to drop spoilers, but it's so long since I read, i mostly just remember the highlights, and not enough detail to be a spoiler.

Ginger | 3903 comments Good because we would have to beat you down!! Hahaha

Yay!! Glad you are joining Marie Helene!

Marie Helene | 741 comments I saw the movie long long time ago.
You know, when they were video stores 🦕
I rented a VHS tape (atrocious copy by the way, faded colours and poor sound quality). Do not remember a great deal, so I cannot spoil.

I'm glad that VHS tape had such poor quality so you don't remember much! :P
Haha!

I need to find my copy! I watched the movie first and was pleasantly surprised when a friend told me about the book. If I can find it, I'm going to join in the buddy read.

Excited for some more vampire action!

Terry | 5364 comments Me too, Ginger!

Terry | 5364 comments I made it to ch6. Good creepy start! Can you think of a better setting than this for a horror story? (view spoiler)

Ginger | 3903 comments Or even this one too. I can't decide!

Marie Helene | 741 comments Finished the prologue and chapter 1.
Looks promising.

Terry | 5364 comments Excellent pictures, Ginger! They both fit I think.

Cailyn Lloyd | 11 comments I started the book before I saw this thread. Just finished. Great read. Enjoy!

I had the privilege of meeting Paul at StokerCon this year. To listen to him, Monteleone and McCammon back and forth put me in stitches for a week.

That’s really cool to hear Kenneth. What a great group of authors to listen too!

There's no way that I would have done it as well Terry!! You don't know anything (view spoiler)

Marie Helene | 741 comments Kenneth wrote: "I had the privilege of meeting Paul at StokerCon this year. To listen to him, Monteleone and McCammon back and forth put me in stitches for a week."

Lucky you. Any chance the author spoke of The Keep?

Marie Helene | 741 comments Well, I did a lot of googling regarding this book. What is a keep? Was Romania a major ally of Hitler? I find the date very interesting: April 1941. Most of the Germans could believe the war would be over soon, as they had invaded most of Europe and there was a neutrality pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. I also like when an author reminds us there was a divide between regular troops (the Wehrmacht) and Nazi troops (the SS).
OK, my (home)work is done, time to go back to reading :)

I love all of your research Marie Helene! I was thinking that in regards to the date as well. The Germans have to be thinking that the war is over soon with this being in 1941.
