<closed thread>What are you currently reading?
I've recently finished reading
by Ernest Hemingway and
by Janet Evanovich. The Old Man and the Sea
I enjoyed this book. At 127 pages, The Old Man and the Sea was a quick read. I managed to read the entire novel in just under an hour. It was a touching and thought-provoking tale. I admired Santiago's determination and his refusal to let his spirit be broken. I loved Ernest Hemingway's writing style. I thought it was very similar to John Steinbeck's style (who is my favourite author by the way). Although it is a very short novel, the story got quite slow and repetitive in places. It is a good novel but I honestly didn't think it was worthy of the Pulitzer Prize it won in 1953.

Lean Mean Thirteen
I enjoyed this book but I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the previous instalment, Twelve Sharp. The plot was predictable and virtually nothing happened in it to develop the characters further. I'm getting tired of the love triangle with Joe Morelli and Ranger and I wish Stephanie would finally choose one of them or else dump them both and date someone new! Janet Evanovich has let this go on for far too long and now there's no sexual tension left between the characters.

Now I'm halfway through
by Jane Casey.
I finished May We Be Forgiven, was a really good novel of sympathetic characters. Now I am about to start Defending Jacob
Just started:The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty
Still Life by Louise Penny
Garment of Shadows by Laurie R. King

ack only day 2 and 2 DNF's already - I really wish I could find a fiction book with a triathlete that doesn't suck - I don't want one about women where they are unbelieveable (i.e. an untrained female beating a tour de france finisher in a bike race...) - blargh!
I just finished
which I LOVED!!!! If I re-read books (which I usually don't) this would be one that I would choose to re-read. I couldn't put this one down☺I also finished
which is by an author that I don't particularly care for BUT I LOVED this book too!!!!

I think I was on a spree of two star books in February. That usually doesn't happen so I'm wondering if it was just me and I wasn't in the mood for the books I was picking and reading LOL

I find the SRC really encourages me to step up my game and get through all these tbr books.
I'm reading Mary Shelley's The Last Man
. It's a pretty sweeping epic about the end of the world, and a bit rough going at times, but I love anything she wrote so I'm enjoying it.
Just finished
(5.10) and am partway into
(15.8). I have four tasks half complete, and borrowed 3 books from the library two days ago that are also for 2 book tasks, so I'm going to end up with 7 half complete, lol.
i'm like you Katrina - I think I have like 8 books in progress right now - I was really hoping for more snow so I could be a bum - but it kind of fizzled out
Am listening to The Moor for #15.1 - I love Laurie King's Mary Russell series. Will follow that with The Hound of the Baskervilles since that book is mentioned several times in The Moor.
About to start
(25.2 Book 1). I'm going to end up with too many half complete tasks, haha. This'll be my 5th, and have two more books from the library that are for 2 book 15/25/30 point tasks as well!
I just finished The Island of Dr. Moreau in time for the middle school musical tomorrow, and I'll probably start either Maggie: A Girl of the Streets or Further Fables for Our Time before I go to bed :D
I am currently reading
which was a kindle freebie, but so far I'm enjoying it ☺ I am also reading
and not really liking it at all although I have seen a lot of my friends recommending it and giving it lots of good reviews. I'm also reading
but not really far enough into it to give it a thumbs up or down yet.
- on the Nook. This was a BN freebie, but I'm enjoying it.
in hardback. Love this series.
on audio. Brilliant! I no longer read Grisham's legal thrillers, but I love his other stuff. The play-by-play of the games has me spellbound.
i'm listening to The Postman Always Rings Twice - narrated by Stanley tucci and have multiple books in reading progress
Dee wrote: "i'm listening to The Postman Always Rings Twice - narrated by Stanley tucci and have multiple books in reading progress"Is that the book that was turned into a movie?
Just finsihed
. A free book for review. I enjoyed the book. It is about a woman who's baby got switched at birth with another. There were times I smiled, laughed and yes I cried a tear or two. The ending was good but I feel the author should of took it a little further. A good read. A grey mini challenge and captain challenge.

It was pretty strange but good.
I am about to begin
Finished Roses 4 stars. Finishing up today The Thin Woman for probably 3 stars. Still reading The Borrower (ebook) and Love in the Time of Cholera - about 60% done with both.
Barely started Answer as a Man, although it has promise. Had to complete the library books (first two) as they are due in a day or two.
Next books to start (library) Caleb's Crossing (audiobook), The Enchantress Of Florence (ebook), and White Tiger by Michael Allen Dymmoch.
Library books came in all at once! Finished The White Tiger, now reading The Hound of the Baskervilles, then on to The Once and Future King, Lemon Meringue Pie Murder, The Rise of Nine & Sea Glass
I have Jekyll and Hyde for school tomorrow, and then looking forward to The Woman Who Wouldn't (yay Gene Wilder), The Solace of Open Spaces, and maybe Sarah's Girls for tomorrow evening. Yay books! :D
