Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've recently finished reading The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway by Ernest Hemingway and Lean Mean Thirteen (Stephanie Plum, #13) by Janet Evanovich by Janet Evanovich.

The Old Man and the Sea
I enjoyed this book. At 127 pages, The Old Man and the Sea was a quick read. I managed to read the entire novel in just under an hour. It was a touching and thought-provoking tale. I admired Santiago's determination and his refusal to let his spirit be broken. I loved Ernest Hemingway's writing style. I thought it was very similar to John Steinbeck's style (who is my favourite author by the way). Although it is a very short novel, the story got quite slow and repetitive in places. It is a good novel but I honestly didn't think it was worthy of the Pulitzer Prize it won in 1953.
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Lean Mean Thirteen
I enjoyed this book but I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the previous instalment, Twelve Sharp. The plot was predictable and virtually nothing happened in it to develop the characters further. I'm getting tired of the love triangle with Joe Morelli and Ranger and I wish Stephanie would finally choose one of them or else dump them both and date someone new! Janet Evanovich has let this go on for far too long and now there's no sexual tension left between the characters.

Now I'm halfway through How To Fall by Jane Casey by Jane Casey.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) I just finished The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty which I LOVED!!!! If I re-read books (which I usually don't) this would be one that I would choose to re-read. I couldn't put this one down☺

I also finished The Penny Whistle by B.J. Hoff which is by an author that I don't particularly care for BUT I LOVED this book too!!!!

Yes it does. I think I was on a spree of two star books in February. That usually doesn't happen so I'm wondering if it was just me and I wasn't in the mood for the books I was picking and reading LOL

I did decide that this season I'm going to be more picky and not read books just because - it might take filling tasks harder but hey, that is why its a challenge right?

message 2769: by Michael (new)

Michael (book_nerd1991) I finished my last book,it was decent but a little unrealistic.

Now I am starting The Jesus We Missed The Surprising Truth About The Humanity Of Christ by Patrick Henry Reardon

Almost all of mine were on tbr or shelf/kindle so it's not as impossible as it sounds. I find the SRC really encourages me to step up my game and get through all these tbr books.

Marty (martymill) | 220 comments I'm reading Mary Shelley's The Last Man The Last Man by Mary Shelley . It's a pretty sweeping epic about the end of the world, and a bit rough going at times, but I love anything she wrote so I'm enjoying it.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) I am currently reading Railroad Man by Alle Wells which was a kindle freebie, but so far I'm enjoying it ☺ I am also reading Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and not really liking it at all although I have seen a lot of my friends recommending it and giving it lots of good reviews. I'm also reading S.O.S. Titanic by Eve Bunting but not really far enough into it to give it a thumbs up or down yet.

Beautiful Redemption (Caster Chronicles, #4) by Kami Garcia in hardback. Love this series.

Calico Joe by John Grisham on audio. Brilliant! I no longer read Grisham's legal thrillers, but I love his other stuff. The play-by-play of the games has me spellbound.

message 2786: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finsihed Lost and Found in Russia by Olga Godim . A free book for review. I enjoyed the book. It is about a woman who's baby got switched at birth with another. There were times I smiled, laughed and yes I cried a tear or two. The ending was good but I feel the author should of took it a little further. A good read. A grey mini challenge and captain challenge.

Just started [bookcover:Healer's Touch|17301154
