Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) | 2441 comments I'm in a really competitive spirit because of this challenge. I was not sure if I will be able to keep up. But I find myself with all books finished and eagerly waiting for next shelves to be called. :)

Can King's work for LO? Series name is 'The King Trilogy'.

Walking on Her Grave (Rogue River #4) by Melinda Leigh

Free via author via Netgalley
Read: 6/11/14
Rated: 5 Stars
My Review: This is the fourth and final book in the Rogue River quadrilogy written by both Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot.

Melinda takes us back to Solitude and in turn back to Carly Taylor and her estranged husband Seth. Things in Solitude have been really heating up, with the murders and drug dealings still not being entirely solved. The tensions have been building and I found myself wholly invested in the story and eager to discover what was going on.

This has been a fantastic journey and although it was a great ending to the series, it is bittersweet. I am truly sad to see this story end, I have loved spending time in Solitude and I can't wait to find out what Melinda and Kendra have in store for us next. Here's hoping they join up again for another writing project!

Sandra | 25911 comments Darkness (New Species, #12) by Laurann Dohner
Shelf 2: 5/11/14
N
Date: 9/11/14
Rating: ★★★★★

This is the 12th New Species and in some ways it is similar to others in the series, but in one important way it is totally unique.

Darkness and Kat fall in love without it being insta-love.

Looking forward to the next in the series, the first primate new species, Smiley.

message 124: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 09, 2014 12:51AM) (new)

I just finished my ER and N books. I'll post the reviews tonight. Good choice, Leslie. I'm torn between Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews (Gift Card) and Red Blooded (Jessica McClain, #4) by Amanda Carlson (Library) for the LO shelf. I've been looking forward to read both these books. Any suggestions on what I should go with?

message 125: by ~Leslie~ (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) | 2441 comments Duplicity (Spellbound #2) by Nikki Jefford

Shelf: Week #2 - N
Date: 08th Nov. 2014.
Rating: 4 stars

This series just keeps getting better and better. Second book was as much fun as the first one. Misfired spells, curses, vengeance, breaking coven rules, ... I didn't think Nikki Jefford would be able to keep up the tension (since everything got solved at the end of book #1) but she in just two chapters made another big mess that was interesting and fun.

If you like reading ya paranormal novels with witches, this series is really nice. And book #1 is Kindle freebie. ;)

Eternal Breath of Darkness (Breath of Darkness, #1) by Candice Stauffer

Amazon Freebie. Shifters including Dragons & Wolves

Read: 9/11/14
Rated: 4 Stars

My review: This follows the tried and tested pnr formula with a damaged heroine and a possessive, arrogant alpha male.

The mythology is intriguing and unlike lots of first in series books that give you huge info dumps, this did the opposite. Candice shared just enough for you to enjoy the story but left huge gaps leaving you curious as to what exactly is going on and desperate to discover everyone's secrets. I didn't really identify well with the main couple, about half way through I started feeling for Caylee but Hayden just rubbed me the wrong way and it wasn't until the last quarter that I finally routed for them as a couple. The secondary characters however did gain and keep my attention and I am looking forward to getting to know them better.

The story had both it's good points and it's bad points but on the whole I liked it. I will be continuing with the series and I have a feeling I will enjoy the rest of the books even more than this one!

I haven't read either so I'm no help. AMazon are still holding Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews hostage and I completely forgot Red Blooded (Jessica McClain, #4) by Amanda Carlson was even out! I am looking forward to both though and can't wait to read your review :)

Sandra | 25911 comments Shadow's Passion (Shadow Warder, #0.5) by Molle McGregor
Shelf 1: 29/10/14
ER
Date: 11/11/14
Rating: 3.5★

This is billed as the prequel, but at over 300 pgs it really deserves to just be the first in the series.

We have 2 factions of demon hunter/good guys, Warders and Shadows, and our villains are Vorati demons who consume souls to survive. World building is subtle and well done, no apparent grammar mistakes.

Celeste, a Shadow, is living a very isolated life due to her problems controlling her electrical power and Gabe, a Warder, is tracking the demon who killed his brother.

Warders & Shadows shouldn't even be in the same room, however, Celeste & Gabe can't get enough of each other.

The demons are changing and so must the good guys.

Week 2: Shelf :N

Night Play (Were-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Date Finished: 9th Nov
Rating: 3 stars

REVIEW:
I don't know what I was expecting from this book, but I was a bit disappointed. Compared to the Dark-Hunter story plots, this one was a bit .... just okay. The first scenes with Vane and Bride in her shop were totally unrealistic. But things started to get a bit better when Fury came into the picture. The whole Arcadians Vs. Katagians feud was more interesting, esp. the idea more than the actual story. I loved the Peltiers bear clan a lot! Looking forward to the next book.

Shelf: ER

Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater

Date Finished: 7th Nov
Rating: 4 Stars

REVIEW:

This series keeps getting more and more awesome and weirder at the same time. This is not just Blue's book. It focuses on Blue, Adam, Ronan and Gansey equally. What makes this book shine is that all characters get equal importance. There a lot going on in this book - trying to discover Maura's whereabouts, the threat from Mr.Gray's ex-boss-Colin Greenmantle and of course, the ever present search for Glendower. A lot of feelings are abound here.... An important character dies!!!!! No.... No, I'm not going to tell if it is Gansey or not.

The story drags a bit somewhere around the middle, but picks up pace soon. One if the three sleepers also gets woken and things get even stranger after that. But Maggie does keep us on our toes. I really really can't wait to read the next book. Glad there are more books to come.

Oh , and, I have to add, I adore that cover. So gorgeous!

I an currently on GR app. I will be able to add the covers for the above 2 reviews only when I get back on a computer. Which us not until next week.

message 141: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Yes, Sandra - I totally understand. I often re-read the Kate Daniels books right after I read them the first time. I feel like I miss so much going on and need another round.

message 142: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25911 comments Yep, exactly! I would've read it again already but I haven't been able to make the time yet :(

message 144: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments I'm jealous! Mine is still being held hostage by Amazon.

I'm running a little late with my reviews, had to make an emergency trip to the vet. Everything's going to be ok though so I should have at least one to post by shelf time tomorrow.

message 145: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25911 comments I got mine through Book Depository Michelle :)

Hope your pet is OK and the visit doesn't break the bank.

message 146: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments I never even thought of trying there, if they don't post it out in the next few days I might.

Caspar is doing ok, thanks. He had a bad mouth abscess and it's burst his cheek open. Poor kitty has antibiotics & anti-inflammatory medication for 2 wks then they'll reassess him for an operation to get some teeth out. He's 18 1/2 though, so they are worried about the damage it could do to his kidneys. It won't be cheap, that's for sure!

message 147: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25911 comments Wow! That's really old for a cat. I always had cats when I was younger, but we lived on a busy side road, so the longest I ever had a cat was probably about 5 yrs.

message 148: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 2158 comments Both my cats are over 18 now, they don't get out much though. All they do is eat , sleep and cuddle. I'm just glad he came home.

message 149: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1224 comments Wow!! those are some old cats!! How wonderful that they are still around.

message 150: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) | 2441 comments I never heard about a cat that old. My oldest was maybe 12 years... I hope Caspar feels better soon.

I finished my LO book but feel to lazy to write a review today (or yesterday lol). Hopefully tomorrow...
