Chapters 5-6 (view spoiler)[I started paying attention to the names, so I just realized that Will's last name is Herondale, which means that he's an ancestor of Jace. I don't remember ever hearing Lovelace, Carstairs, or Branwell. There was also a mention of the Lightwoods. We haven't heard Charlotte's maiden name, but maybe she's a Fairchild/Clary's ancestor? I would put it past Cassandra Clare to do that.

And another reference to the future - Henry will become the inventor of the Sensor, which is cool I guess. (Is it just me or does he seem exactly like Mr. Weasley?)

I wonder what Will is doing instead of drinking. Tessa kind of just ignored that, which seems like a bad decision.

Miranda was definitely one of those automatons they found. And Tessa's clockwork angel is likely on of Mortmain's creations. Did her father get it when him and Mortmain were friends?

So we know that Nate joined the Pandemonium Club, but why would he be captured? Did he find out about their goals with Tessa and try to stop them. (I'm probably giving him too much credit there.) Was he only captured to threaten Tessa? I still feel like they don't have him, so what happened to him? Did he leave the Pandemonium Club?

And why did Jes nearly go insane when the hobgoblin attacked her? The way she kept saying that he was a "disgusting Downworlder" makes me think that her parents were killed by Downworlders. Along with her saying that because Tessa is a Downworlder, she'll go to hell. Or maybe she's just super prejudiced and I'm giving characters too much credit again. (hide spoiler)]

Henry is a scientist. I think by the end of the series he might end up making quite a few invention but for now they are highly risky.

I was having doubts if they would be able to kill De Quincey so fast in the book as he is the bad guy. It's appears I was right.
I didn't liked the fact that once Jem came long Will forgot all about Thomas.
I hope we soon get to know more about Jem and his illness.
So Tessa and Nate are not actually siblings if they have different parents. Can Tessa be part Shadowhunter and part warlock? I am not sure if it is even possible seeing how Shadowhunters are about downworlders. Just my wild thought.
I think Will pushed her because of the demon blood he intake and it needs to be cured.

Yeah there are definitely a lot of ancestors we’re meeting. It’s kind of cool how they’re all connected I just wished the characters were more different to one another. Just because there’s an ancestor doesn’t mean they’re the same people.

Will is being extremely rude and arrogant just like Jace.
I am sad that Thomas died. I was hoping more of his story in books. Jes is so selfish.

I was wondering if Tessa is a warlock that means she will live longer than Will and Jem no matter who she ends up with. 😔 (hide spoiler)]

It is pretty irony how their ancestors intertwine with one another

That is a pretty good theory as no one seems to have an answer for what she truly is. That would explain why her parents told her nothing, unless she isn't really their child since Nate is fully human

Will is really getting on my nerves. I enjoy Jem and really hope that Tessa chooses him in the end but I have a feeling it will be Will smh. I still wonder what Jem's illness is and why no one will tell Tessa.
Tessa's anger is justified seeing as her whole world has messed with her for so long. She is left confused and scarred but I just hope this will make her a stronger protagonist (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 1 :
(view spoiler)[1) Poor Tessa, stuck there for six weeks. That must have been so lonely.

2) She really should have at least considered Miranda being like a robot. She showed no emotion whatsoever, even in private and repeated the same thing every day, I think she would have at least varied a little if she was real. And Tessa even noticed her appearance was off.

3) I love that Tessa didn’t cry in front of them at all. We already get to see how strong-willed she is. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 2 :
(view spoiler)[1) I do love how Will is the hero who literally rescues her. But she puts up a good fight too and doesn’t let him do all the work.

2) I think it’s funny how annoyed he is by her at first but he keeps protecting her and how she keeps correcting Will/is confident with him even though they’ve just met.

Chapter 3 :
(view spoiler)[1) I can’t believe Tessa’s met a silent brother! I feel like loads had happened so far. And we’ve now met Charlotte and Sophie too.

2) Will and Jessamine’s hate for each other makes me laugh, they’re like brother and sister. I love that Tessa didn’t back down from Jessamine and was sarcastic to her.

3) I’m glad that she shocked even Will with her transformation.

4) Even with Charlotte insisting that they are less formal than mundanes, Tessa still calls Will, Mr Herondale. I can imagine that would be a hard habit to break. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 4 :
(view spoiler)[1) The way Will acts like he doesn’t care breaks my heart. Like when Tessa asked why go through the trouble to find out what happened to Emma and he blew it off as “Charlotte made him”.

2) I like how a lot of things are explained early in this book. Tessa gets a lot of info just told to her that helps the reader to also understand, especially with terms like enclave and conclave.

3) It’s funny how the first time they really call each other by their first names in the library is kinda intimate.

4) I’m kind of surprised Will and jessamine aren’t practically best friends. The way they snipe at everyone, you’d think they’d delight in each other’s comments. (hide spoiler)]

I haven’t read any other Shadowhunter novels - this is my first - but I’m happy to see there are some connections between the different series! And yes - I’m really intrigued!

Her order is books 1-3 of Mortal Instruments, then 1-3 of Infernal Devices, then 4-6 of Mortal Instruments

I think the way you’re reading is good because when I read the books the first time, the mortal instruments was only a trilogy and then the infernal devices came out. So you’re reading it how it was originally :) it’s nice to have a break between City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels as well because City of Fallen Angels starts a different storyline.
