Here are some questions for when you both get to 65% :) ... [spoilers removed]"
So I'm around 70% done now [spoiler..."
You made an interesting point...!
Here are some of my random thoughts (view spoiler)

So I finished it, so there a few things that I want to say.WARNING Don't read unless you finished! (view spoiler)

well If I could take you on your word .. I started the first book in TMI but didn't like it ... Maybe if I loved this series I would read the other one b
But so far I say no . I won't read it

I can understand that, City of Bone has a very slow start and Tessa is an much more interesting main character then Clary. I agree if you love this series maybe reconsider but if you don't, don't read the TMI series

I have, I finished actually, I didn't like the explanation but (view spoiler)

I'm working my way through it .. I think I have reached 65%
yes Jem's life seems so painful to me .. I feel sympathy for him
and I have to say I love the chapter where Will and Tessa were in the attic but after that I really want to punch Will

Are you continuing the series?

I definitely love Will even if everyone seem to dislike him .. I eel like I need to understand him just like Tessa asked him once

of course Yes ,Irena
the more the better

I'm going to read the next book, I want to see how it ends
Dii wrote: "By the way - I think Will is just insanely misunderstood. I can't say that I don't like him yet. I find that he says the complete truth about each situation or person, and it comes out..."
I can see you point and my opinion if him might change but as of right now I still don't like him. Will is very mean.

I know a lot of people love him and maybe he will turn out to be really good in next books, but for now I really, really love Jem!

I love Jem too, he so cute and sweet! Have you read The Mortal Instruments book?

Jem is my favorite character .I agree
but I can't see he and Tessa together

Melany, I read only first three books in TMI series. I plan to finish the series after this one.

Yeah, Will is mean, but he's honest and straight forward. You can't really say that about most people in this world so far. Everyone else seems to be lying or beating around the bush, lol.
One thing that I *am* happy about so far is that there is no instant love in this book (so far). I hate when characters fall in love 5 pages into a book lol!!

I respect Casandra Clare for that .. I am loving this book so far even if it's so slow-paced
and I'll tell the Mods tomorrow to make the thread ready for us .

and I end up choosing the guy who ends up left behind for me .. because I love obviously everyone of them lol

I was happy about that too, that they didn't fall madly in love instantly

My favorite was City of Glass, what do you think of the tie ins to the TMI series?

I fell in love with Sebastian although I know he is a bad guy.
To be perfectly honest with you I still haven't formed my opinion about how TID ties with TMI because I only read Clockwork Angel, but I've heard everything will fall into place with this series.
I'm so glad Magnus is one of the characters here as well since he is my favorite in TMI.

Do you both plan to read it"
He is, I plan to read that after TID

I already own The Bane Chronichels so I do plan to read it but I'm not sure when because I still have to finish TMI before that, I have three more books...
And now the Shadowhunter Academy is coming out with Simon as a main character.

And now the Sh..."
There's going to be another series?! I don't know about Simon being the main character, he wasn't my favorite.

I liked Simon. But it took me time to start liking him.

I felt the same way!

yeah .First I thought Jessamine was dead when Tessa and Sophie started to run and I felt hurt for her
but my hurt for Thomas was far more

I'm sorry ... don't worry though there are a lot of action i hadn't spoiled yet

I'm finished now! And....hmm... I'm having the same feelings that everyone else seems to be having. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I feel very 3/5 or 3.5ish..

Yeah didn't love it, didn't hate it, but I'm intrigued enough to read the next book how about you?

Totally! I have the next book ready to start reading for tomorrow. I'm just hoping it gets better.
-I'm about to go on a rant:
I think what is bothering me is that I don't feel a connection with any of the characters. I feel like I'm merely a bystander witnessing a turn of events in this world (if that makes sense). I think the issue with this is that we're constantly hearing about other peoples life stories from other people. For example, hearing about Will's life from Jem and we learned about Sophia's life from Charlotte. The only person we got a personal account from was from Jem.
If you think about it, no one else told their story themselves. Which I think takes away from us feeling anything for the characters. We only witness them in action or brief conversations. Yeah, I was sad about Thomas, but what did we really know about Thomas besides what Will has told us? Just my weird thoughts haha.

I understand completely, It is difficult to connected with most the characters, I even have a hard time connecting with Tessa sometimes. I feel like I don't know enough about them to form a connection with the characters. Jem, like you said, is the only one that gives the reader any real information about himself, which could be reason out of the characters I care for Jem the most, he was the only one I could really connect to
The weirdest part is that character like Will and Charlotte got their own perceptive chapters and we still didn't learn much about them.
Hopefully we'll learn more about the characters in the next book and it will become easier to relate to them.

My favorite thing he said was during a conversation with Tessa. She said Nate may not even love her back, and Jem said that he does love, but in his own way. It reminds me of something I always say, "Sometimes people love you in a language you don't understand".

I like that "Sometimes people love you in a language you don't understand"
I want to know what you thought about Jem's illness (view spoiler)

So I'm around 70% done now (view spoiler)[I think it might that he's trying to kill myself with actually being the one who kills him, I think it might have something to do with his parents (hide spoiler)]
P.S.(view spoiler)[I'm so worried about Jem! I want him to be ok (hide spoiler)]
