So I'm around 70% done now [spoiler..."
You made an interesting point...!
Here are some of my random thoughts (view spoiler)
Jem is my favorite character. I don't really like Will. And unfortunately I agree with both your points. So I finished it, so there a few things that I want to say.WARNING Don't read unless you finished! (view spoiler)
Melany wrote: "It's about the same as Clockwork Angel so far and I like this book so far. I started the first book in TMI but didn't like it ... Maybe if I loved this series I would read the other one b
But so far I say no . I won't read it
Chris wrote:well If I could take you on your word"I can understand that, City of Bone has a very slow start and Tessa is an much more interesting main character then Clary. I agree if you love this series maybe reconsider but if you don't, don't read the TMI series
Chris wrote: "I don't know Melany if you reached that part or what
I have, I finished actually, I didn't like the explanation but (view spoiler)
Melany , you finished the whole story .Wooow I'm working my way through it .. I think I have reached 65%
yes Jem's life seems so painful to me .. I feel sympathy for him
and I have to say I love the chapter where Will and Tessa were in the attic but after that I really want to punch Will
Its ok, I might not read very quickly but I have a hard time putting books down. I don't like Will, he's mean to Tessa
I'm not finished yet, I'm at 83%. I'm going to hold off on reading the spoilers. Are you continuing the series?
By the way - I think Will is just insanely misunderstood. I can't say that I don't like him yet. I find that he says the complete truth about each situation or person, and it comes out a bit obnoxious. And most of what he says I'm also thinking. Haha
I'm definitely continuing the series .. I'll make sure I finish mine today and If you want we can start the next book tomorrow
Guys can I join you for the next book? I wanted to start mine today but have seen this topic today so I can wait until you start it too.
Dii wrote: "By the way - I think Will is just insanely misunderstood. I can't say that I don't like him yet. I eel like I need to understand him just like Tessa asked him once
Irena wrote: "Guys can I join you for the next book? I wanted to start mine today but have seen this topic today so I can wait until you start it too."of course Yes ,Irena
the more the better
Chris wrote: "So Are you going to read the second book or not ?"I'm going to read the next book, I want to see how it ends

I can see you point and my opinion if him might change but as of right now I still don't like him. Will is very mean.
I thought Will was mean as well while I was reading.I know a lot of people love him and maybe he will turn out to be really good in next books, but for now I really, really love Jem!
Irena wrote: "I thought Will was mean as well while I was reading.I know a lot of people love him and maybe he will turn out to be really good in next books, but for now I really, really love Jem!"
I love Jem too, he so cute and sweet! Have you read The Mortal Instruments book?
Irena wrote: "I thought Will was mean as well while I was reading.I know a lot of people love him and maybe he will turn out to be really good in next books, but for now I really, really love Jem!"
Jem is my favorite character .I agree
but I can't see he and Tessa together
Yeah Chris, I also can't see them together. I usually always cheer for the guy who ends up left behind.Melany, I read only first three books in TMI series. I plan to finish the series after this one.
Chris, I agree! I'll finish reading today and continue with book two tomorrow! Is it possible to have another thread created? Yeah, Will is mean, but he's honest and straight forward. You can't really say that about most people in this world so far. Everyone else seems to be lying or beating around the bush, lol.
One thing that I *am* happy about so far is that there is no instant love in this book (so far). I hate when characters fall in love 5 pages into a book lol!!
yes Dii , I respect Casandra Clare for that .. I am loving this book so far even if it's so slow-paced
and I'll tell the Mods tomorrow to make the thread ready for us .
I'm glad you agree with me , Irena.and I end up choosing the guy who ends up left behind for me .. because I love obviously everyone of them lol
Dii wrote: "One thing that I *am* happy about so far is that there is no instant love in this book (so far). I hate when characters fall in love 5 pages into a book lol!!" I was happy about that too, that they didn't fall madly in love instantly
Irena wrote: Melany, I read only first three books in TMI series. I plan to finish the series after this ..."
My favorite was City of Glass, what do you think of the tie ins to the TMI series?
City of glass was my favorite so far also!I fell in love with Sebastian although I know he is a bad guy.
To be perfectly honest with you I still haven't formed my opinion about how TID ties with TMI because I only read Clockwork Angel, but I've heard everything will fall into place with this series.
I'm so glad Magnus is one of the characters here as well since he is my favorite in TMI.
I love Magnus too! There is one other character the you should know from the TMI series (view spoiler)
Chris wrote: "Magnus also -I think- is the main character in Bane Chronicles ..Do you both plan to read it"
He is, I plan to read that after TID
Melany (view spoiler)I already own The Bane Chronichels so I do plan to read it but I'm not sure when because I still have to finish TMI before that, I have three more books...
And now the Shadowhunter Academy is coming out with Simon as a main character.

There's going to be another series?! I don't know about Simon being the main character, he wasn't my favorite.
I'm not 100% sure but I think it will be series of novellas. Something like Bane Chronicles.I liked Simon. But it took me time to start liking him.
Chris wrote: "Girls .. I feel the need to kill some one. .How do you free all this bent-up energy [spoilers removed]"
I felt the same way!
Melany wrote: "I was so upset, I liked Thomas"yeah .First I thought Jessamine was dead when Tessa and Sophie started to run and I felt hurt for her
but my hurt for Thomas was far more
Oh Dii I thought you were past me when you said you almost finishedI'm sorry ... don't worry though there are a lot of action i hadn't spoiled yet
It's okay! I knew someone would die, a little sad that it had to be him! I'm finished now! And....hmm... I'm having the same feelings that everyone else seems to be having. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I feel very 3/5 or 3.5ish..
Dii wrote: "It's okay! I knew someone would die, a little sad that it had to be him! I'm finished now! And....hmm... I'm having the same feelings that everyone else seems to be having. I didn't hate it, but ..."
Yeah didn't love it, didn't hate it, but I'm intrigued enough to read the next book how about you?
Melany wrote: "Dii wrote: "It's okay! I knew someone would die, a little sad that it had to be him! I'm finished now! And....hmm... I'm having the same feelings that everyone else seems to be having. I didn't ..."
Totally! I have the next book ready to start reading for tomorrow. I'm just hoping it gets better.
-I'm about to go on a rant:
I think what is bothering me is that I don't feel a connection with any of the characters. I feel like I'm merely a bystander witnessing a turn of events in this world (if that makes sense). I think the issue with this is that we're constantly hearing about other peoples life stories from other people. For example, hearing about Will's life from Jem and we learned about Sophia's life from Charlotte. The only person we got a personal account from was from Jem.
If you think about it, no one else told their story themselves. Which I think takes away from us feeling anything for the characters. We only witness them in action or brief conversations. Yeah, I was sad about Thomas, but what did we really know about Thomas besides what Will has told us? Just my weird thoughts haha.
Dii wrote:-I'm about to go on a rant: "I understand completely, It is difficult to connected with most the characters, I even have a hard time connecting with Tessa sometimes. I feel like I don't know enough about them to form a connection with the characters. Jem, like you said, is the only one that gives the reader any real information about himself, which could be reason out of the characters I care for Jem the most, he was the only one I could really connect to
The weirdest part is that character like Will and Charlotte got their own perceptive chapters and we still didn't learn much about them.
Hopefully we'll learn more about the characters in the next book and it will become easier to relate to them.
I completely agree. I really like Jem. He's like the Dumbledore of Harry Potter, Jem always has some wisdom to share. My favorite thing he said was during a conversation with Tessa. She said Nate may not even love her back, and Jem said that he does love, but in his own way. It reminds me of something I always say, "Sometimes people love you in a language you don't understand".

I want to know what you thought about Jem's illness (view spoiler)

Here are some questions for when you both get to 65% :) ... [spoilers removed]"
So I'm around 70% done now (view spoiler)[I think it might that he's trying to kill myself with actually being the one who kills him, I think it might have something to do with his parents (hide spoiler)]
P.S.(view spoiler)[I'm so worried about Jem! I want him to be ok (hide spoiler)]
