If you haven't been collecting the Buzz Books, you're missing a lot of free previews. Buzz Books 2023: Spring/Summer is the usual great selection of excerpts from upcoming books.
5★ My review of the current Buzz Books with several suggestions
Got to one of my backlog from last year, a great suspense read.
The Lies I Told by Mary Burton
My Review - 4 Stars

What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall
An entertaining psychological drama, but with an OTT ending.

Stealing by Margaret Verble
Had much potential, but the writing didn't work for me.

Picking up the Pieces by Amanda Prowse ⭐⭐⭐⭐.4 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
I read Cline’s new book The Guest. Her protagonist Alex seduces an underaged teenager she is using to have a place to stay. Alex muses, “He was seventeen. But better not to know, not to ask. The less information, the easier things will go.” The publisher is very excited about the book, but this troubles me.
I definitely recommend Louise Candlish's latest psychological thriller to those who enjoy this genre. It's a clever slow burn with an ending I didn't see coming.

The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi
Mainly purple prose under the façade of a fantastical plot. Utterly disappointed.

Delicious Death is the second in a fantasy mystery series featuring a woman who can talk to the spirits of the newly dead and to ghosts who refuse to leave people or places. A light, entertaining read with a slow burn romance.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Better the Blood by Michael Bennett ⭐⭐⭐.5 https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Hedy Lamarr was a true Hollywood bombshell, as this children's picture book by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara describes in an addition to the Little People BIG DREAMS series. She was beautiful and technologically brilliant.
5★ My review of Hedy Lamarr with several of the lovely illustrations and a drop-dead gorgeous photo of her

Freddie Mercury had a remarkable impact on today's music. The recent children's biography by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara gives us a bit of his life and the founding of the phenomenon that became Queen.
5★ My review of Freddie Mercury with several illustrations and links to some of the unforgettable music
The Grief Nurse by Angie Spoto
A missed opportunity here, because it had plenty of potential. Might work for fantasy lit-fic lovers.

Old Babes in the Wood: Stories by Margaret Atwood
An anthology by the acclaimed writer. Pretty good, though I wanted more.

If the rest of award-winning Irish author Sebastian Barry's books are as good as his latest, Old God's Time, I've got some great reads to look forward to. I loved Tom Kettle and his story. Barry writes with an Irish accent.
5★ My review of Old God's Time, more than half of which is Barry's wonderful writing (no spoilers).
The Notekeeper by Hannah Treave
Will work better for the right reader. It wasn't my kind of story.

Too simple an approach for such an important topic.

I am a big fan of Psychological thrillers. Don't Let Her Stay had me yelling at the protagonist.

I was hoping to find an answer to What Are Mondays Good For, Anyway?, not being a fan of Mondays, and while I enjoyed the illustrations, I don't think I'd have been happy sending my kids to school with these suggestions.
2.5★ My review of What Are Mondays Good For, Anyway? with illustrations, of course
