The Lindbergh Nanny by Mariah Fredericks
Nice enough, but I expected more, I guess. It didn't affect me the way I thought it would.

Just Another Meat-Eating Dirtbag: A Memoir by Michael Anthony
Enjoyed this graphic novel memoir much more than I had expected. Thought-provoking and funny.

Rook
is a fictionalised account by Stephen G. Eoannou of ex-cons who teamed up to become an odd pair of "badfellows" and ended up on the FBI's most-wanted list.
3.5★ My review of Rook
To Fill a Yellow House by Sussie Anie
Works in bits and pieces. But not for everyone, and wasn't much for me.

The Invincible Miss Cust by Penny Haw
A book based on the life of Aleen Cust, Britain's first female veterinary surgeon. Enjoyed this historical fiction to a great extent. Definitely recommended to hist-fic fans.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Really Wild Family series is a delightful introduction to wildlife for children. Great information and wonderful illustrations!Little Elephant: A Day in the Life of a Elephant Calf by Anna Brett is the latest one I've read.
My review of Little Elephant with several pictures
Outback by Patricia Wolf ⭐⭐⭐.7 https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...
I'm on my Christmas bender starting with The Christmas Wish. And, being true to the group, the book has come out and my review isn't in yet. But it is an adorable book. It's like the film Groundhogs Days but on Christmas.
The Vanishing of Margaret Small by Neil Alexander
Looks like light fiction, but it is very intense. Enjoyed it much more than I had expected.

I just had my mind absolutely blown by Love & Panic by Raina Ash. I wasn't expecting the amount of depth and beauty woven into this story, and will be reading this again.

Just Like Family by Barbara Casey ⭐.7 https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Frankly Feminist: Short Stories by Jewish Women from Lilith Magazine edited by Susan Weidman Schneider
An anthology of 44 stories with female Jewish protagonists. I was impressed by the range of genres and themes in this one, though it was a tad too long for my liking. I got this title directly from the magazine but it was listed on Netgalley as well.

Just finished this mess of a book, sorry I wasted my time. Full review when my buddies have finished the book. 2* for
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Finished Beneath the Marigolds ...liked the story, gave it 3 stars. The swearing was added in.
I'm Wearing Tunics Now is pure garbage.
Never Name the Dead, I'm 30% in and the mystery is beginning. It's slow with a lot of unexplained traditions.
So Long, Chester Wheeler by Catherine Ryan Hyde
Not my favourite from this author.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I've been dutifully reading "read now" options in hopes of getting my NG cred, but I just got approved for a cute historical romance that is pretty funny! And the cover is super cute!
The Witch of Tin Mountain by Paulette Kennedy
An atmospheric gothic set in the Ozarks. Pretty interesting.

Twice in a Lifetime by Melissa Baron
Looks like a nice light romance. Ended up an intense emotional drama. Could have worked better in the hands of a more experienced author.

Blood, Dust & Snow: Diaries of a Panzer Commander in Germany and on the Eastern Front by Robin Schäfer. It's an unabridged German Panzer-man's diary from 1938 to 1943, and the beginning is slow since he describes his training, flirting, and his comrades; in a word, his everyday life. The diary was praised for describing Nazi atrocities toward Soviet citizens, but I haven't gotten to that part.
Just finished City of Nightmares
by Rebecca Schaeffer. Not as good as her Market of Monsters series, which was delightfully disturbing. The idea/story/plot of this one was great, but it's in first person and the MC was too whiny of a character. At 7% I was already irritated with her.
A little less whiny and I could've given more stars.
3 Stars
We Deserve Monuments by Jas Hammonds
Very much in the minority with my opinion on this one. But simply couldn't read more than a few pages without rolling my eyes.

Crime Writer by Aussie author Dime Sheppard
I had loads of fun with this one! A creative mishmash of genres that works pretty well.

Keeper of Enchanted Rooms by Charlie N. Holmberg
A fun historical fantasy. Though a tad slow, I enjoyed the story and the characters. Definitely recommended.

I'm sure we've all been guilty of
Keeping Up Appearances
or worrying 'what will the neighbours think'. Aussie author Tricia Stringer gives us a group of older women in a small South Australian town who think they know all the town's secrets. HA! I can see why the author is so popular.
3.5★ My review of Keeping Up Appearances
This is my current to read list and publication dates:A Million to One - 5th Jan
What July Knew - 9th Feb
Dirty Laundry - 24th March

I just finished Jenny Lawson's I Choose Darkness. I've surpassed my reading challenge. So, I'm thinking, do I reread a book I liked or do something new? Because I really want to reread The Love Hypothesis.
The Last Rose of Shanghai by Weina Dai Randel
Started nicely but went over the top as it progressed.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Blue Bar by Damyanti Biswas
A gritty crime noir set in Mumbai. Relished it. Might work better for Indians, but if you are a noir fan, do try.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I finished off last year's reading with Irish author Claire Keegan's wonderful novella, Foster, about a girl who is fostered by a couple while her mum has a baby. Loved it. Great start to the year!
5★ My review of Foster
I'm still in reread phase and I'm rereading Electric Idol.As soon as I finish I'll get going on my 2023 reading challenge.
Queen Elizabeth never expected to be Queen, but she sure did the job well and was much loved for her common touch and dedication. Children's book author Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara shows her as a child, a teen, and an adult in this great introduction for kids. (Not a bad refresher for grown-ups!]
5★ My review of Queen Elizabeth with several illustrations
I had a lot of fun with The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, which is as quirky as the title suggests. There are orphans and a manor house, deadly threats, romance (bit sexy) and some quite naughty language. Something for the LGBT+ community as well. Oh yes - and magic spells! A most entertaining read.
4★ My review of ...Irregular Witches
I've two new little ones on my dashboard,
The Celtic Deception Book Two by Andrew Varga
and
The Deep Sky by Yume Kitasei
Looking forward

If anyone is interested in a "read now" option that is really fun, there's a great paranormal, historical mystery called Murder at the Seven Dials by Cara Devlin: https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/boo...Murder at the Seven Dials
It's about a duchess trying to prove her husband innocent of a murder. She has the ability to "see" an object's history is she holds it and that factors into her sleuthing. I had a great time reading it.
Jeannine wrote: "If anyone is interested in a "read now" option that is really fun, there's a great paranormal, historical mystery called Murder at the Seven Dials by Cara Devlin: https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/..."I was pleased that I wasn't the only one who thought this looked like a fun read. I got it as well!
The Book of Everlasting Things by Indian historian-turned-writer Aanchal Malhotra
Very good for a debut work. Needed some finetuning in the editing process but an informative and emotional read nonetheless.

I've just finished I'm Not Charlotte Lucas by Kasey Stockton and I gotta say it was a really cute read! Had a couple issues with it but it was a great contemporary romantic story ❤

Don't go by the drab cover. The story is mind-blowing. Not for everyone though. Check out the triggers.
