Melissa | 11 comments I believe what I am seeking was a series, not a stand alone book. I remember there being at least 3 books. I believe they came out around 2000-2004, and while a lot of the content of the book dealt with coming of age issues for teenage girls, the main focus was really sex. The main character was somewhat shy, but I think it also focused on her two close friends, one of who was fairly sexually active.

I think the main character's parents ended up getting divorced at some point. It also explored her getting a job, going to sex ed classes (? or something of that sort), and maybe dealing with some sort of sibling issues?

A lot of the details are foggy; it's been at least 13 years since I read these books, but I remember checking them out of the library quite often. I've been looking through lists and on Amazon for a few hours now, and whatever this series was, it must have not been extremely popular because it isn't showing up anywhere.

Do you remember anything about the covers?

Mates, Dates and Inflatable Bras
and
The Dating Game
My thought instantly went to the Sisterhood of the traveling pants, but I have yet to read them, so I can be way wrong.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Oh well, just saw that this is now 5 books, when I bought The Complete Collection ist was just 4, LOL. And that shows how long I wanted to read them - also bought the films, with Amber Tamblyn being one of my favorite actresses.

Darcy (drokka) | 211 comments Where was the series set. I'm not sure about the sex classes but the coming age stuff, and the divorce applies to Jaclyn Moriarty. I've not read the first, but the second book The Year of Secret Assignments was rather good. This series is set in Australia.

Melissa | 11 comments No, none of these suggestions are the right one.

I don't remember anything about the covers, and yes, the entire series was about the same three girls.

Catie | 9 comments It sounds like it might be the Alice books by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor -- the main character is Alice, and her two best friends are Pamela and Elizabeth; Pamela is more sexually experienced. There are definitely storylines about getting a job and sex ed. No divorce, but Alice's mom died, so it's just Alice, her dad, and her older brother Lester.

The first one is The Agony of Alice. They were published starting in the mid 80s, and the last one came out in 2013.
