I've read 1 and 2 and really liked them. But the next 2 are less than 200 pages and expensive for being that short. So I'm waiting for a sale.

Review: Breach of Crust is the fifth and final book in the Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery series by Ellery Adams, and I am a little sad. They are a bit cheesy, as are a lot in the cazy genre. I enjoyed the magical world the author created around Ella Mae LaFaye, her family and Havenwood, Georgia. However, I think the character of Ella Mae was one of the weaker ones, while a lot of the secondary characters stand out way more, including the adorable Chewy. I would love to find out the author chose to write a spin-off in this world with someone else taking the lead role. Maybe someday.

Dead as a Doornail (Sookie Stackhouse #5)

I liked this installment and the mystery involving attacks on shapeshifters. Sookie is an enjoyable character and trouble always seems to find her. It seems she has a revolving door of romantic interests as well. I plan to continue with the series and look forward to more of Sookie's antics.

Review:
I am keeping this short since I am very busy today.
In this book of the Miss Marple series a murder is announced in the local newspaper and miss Marple must solve the mystery when a murder really does occur. I really like miss Marple as a character and Agatha Christie is a master of this genre. In my opinion this is not one of Agatha Christie's best but it was enjoyable. I kept guessing at the murder and the writing style is easily digestible. All in all my time reading this book was time well spent.

Review: Grier Woolworth is once again surrounded by betrayal on all fronts. I loved her developing relationship with Linus – the bread tie moment was really cute – just saying. I was disappointed in the big reveal at the end of the book, it seemed out of place in the midst of the almost cliffhanger ending. It wasn’t abrupt but there were more urgent things to be done, I guess that is why there is another in the series. Woolly, the house is still by far the best character. 3 stars

Review: Amy Michaels is a waitress at Eat Me Diner and a new arrival to Lucky Harbor having arrived 6 months prior. She picked this town because of a visit her grandmother made there 50 years ago and wrote about in a tiny journal. Amy wants to locate the 3 places her grandmother visited and see if they can give her the hope, peace and heart that her grandmother found. Her first attempt gets her lost and rescued by forest ranger, Matt Bowers. Matt has been attracted since her arrival in town and pursues her. A side story concerns a teenage runaway, Riley, who reminds Amy of her past. Her problems and Amy's past are the drama for this story. Good read.

Ryan and Vicki's friends-to-lovers story was sweet. The threat of James seemed a little over the top but I guess there needed to be something to bring them back together. The Sullivan family is entertaining and I enjoyed catching up with the other couples from previous books and their bets on who will fall in love next. Looking forward to Smith's story in the next book.

Review: This is the most recent, October 1st, of the spin-off series by John Flanagan that started with the Rangers Apprentice books. To me this was a mix of The Icebound Land, The Battle for Skandia and a little of The Ghostfaces. With lots of adventure with Hal and the Heron crew, including the less than entertaining twins, they sort of get on my nerves, but the awesome Kloof. One thing that I found to be lacking in this book was any teen, young adult love interest, or even a hint of it really. After some past things with Lydia and Hal, or others, the twins meeting twins, and Stig loosing his love. It sort of felt lacking. Not that I want big romance, but it is a reality, and a little would have been more realistic with the age of the characters.

Review: Being the last book in the Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy series it cannot be read as a stand alone. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the is, the finale. There were a lot of twists and surprising turns, revealing several secrets, but the ending felt so rushed and overall the plot didn’t really work. And in fact there are novellas planned to tie up loose ends, so I guess in that respect it isn’t the finale at all. The characters continued to act in the same way as the previous book, which all became quite tedious after a while. The house, Woolly remains the standout character of the entire series. 3 stars.

Review: Jewel Caraway is happy to have her estranged sister visiting after a 20 year separation. However, shortly after she and her new husband arrive, Jewel becomes the target of some malicious accidents. Police Chief Colin Winters, who “secretly” loves Jewel, vows to protect her and catch the bad guy. There was plenty of action, but half of it could have been avoided if Jewel didn't continually do stupid stuff. The villain was obvious but always seemed to not be seen. Their pasts, both Colin's and Jewel's are supposed to keep them from having a relationship, but it has been 10 years since her husband died and they can't get it together. I gave it one star for the action scenes which were suspenseful.

Review
A very enjoyable crime novel from Camilla Läckberg. It was ind of confusing at the beginning because there were a lot of characters to keep track but all the stories combine together and create a complete picture. I really like Patric and his wife and the way they interract with each other. I don't think I can go very much into plot without spoiling things. The ending leaves you wanting to read the next book imediately because it ends in a kind of cliffhanger even though the main crime has been solved. All in all I enjoyed spending time in Fjällbacka and meeting the characters and the plot was a good one.

Review: While taking a walk down memory lane Mercer witnesses a shooting. There is a leak inside the police department leading to a fast paced action packed romantic suspense. I really liked the hero a police detective who takes on the role of protector. I did think that it was irresponsible of the author to have her characters dismiss protection with no discussion of consequences of pregnancy etc. I liked that both main characters had to work for their HEA. 4 stars

Enchanted Village is a charming place and the characters are fun. The mystery involved the death of Aunt Ve's ex-husband after Darcy discovers his skeleton in her garage. I was surprised at the culprit in the end and there are secrets revealed along the way as well. I also like how Darcy and Nick's relationship is progressing. I will continue with the series and hope it keeps going for many more books.

Review
I've had a lot of issues with this series. Sarah J. Maas's writing style is not my cup of tea. I find it to be too dramatic for my taste. Her characters are not my taste either. I found that I cared more for the side characters than the main one. In fact I cannot stand Celaena/Aelin. Maybe that was the reason that my favorite book of the series was Tower of Dawn where Aelin is not part of the story. It is Sara J. Maas's first attempt in writing something of that scope and that inexperience shows. A lot of my issues with this book comes from problems I have had with the series as a whole, and it is difficult to separate those without going into spoiler territory. One thing I will tell though is that most of the romance in the book is atrocious. The book would have been better if most of those parts were skipped. I enjoyed the bonds of friendship much more, so why did she have to pare up everyone? What I think the author does well is that she created a very engaging plot where you find that you care about what happens to this world even if you don't care about characters. I think that there is room for improvement, but she did manage to end the series in a satisfactory way. All in all I thought this was an average series and I have read better, but it wasn't the worst either. I don't think I will be reading her other series anytime soon, since from what I hear it has the same issues, but I am open to read something else when she has refined her skill a bit more.

Review: Oh my! What new trouble did Violet Parker, aka Spooky Parker, aka Sparky, aka Boots... find herself in the middle of this time? She, Old Man Harvey, Doc, the cranky Detective Coop, the wacky Abe lookalike, and so many other wonderful, and crazy cheracters join in this fun and spooky seventh book. I can hardly wait to read the next one in the series yo see where the ongoing plot points lead. Is Cally really gone? How much more of the Jaguar will "fall" off? What is really up with her ex, and the lab at the bottom of the cut? Slagtown? And so much more.

Yeah! It is a cozy mystery, but not. Less sugar that a lot of them. But not up to the level of Kate Daniels, Allie Beckstrom, Gin Blanco, Merit, Cat Crawfield, or many others. Violet is sassy and real, and I have been enjoying it. Also, I really want to know were it goes, because the story really changes as the series moves forward. More and more paranormal, I think the first was a lot less of that if I remember correctly.

Yes that is always disappointing when series don't end with a bang. I always feel that ending a series is a very difficult thing to nail. But I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish because I did not give up.

Review: Mack's synesthesia, cross-wired senses, has gotten her notoriety after she uses them to help solve a murder investigation. As a result a murderous fan sends her letters with tasks to solve and promises failure to solve will result in the death of people she knows. She is not allowed to work with her Detective friend, Duncan, so an undercover cop is brought in who adds a second potential love interest. Besides working on these letters the Capone Club, a cold case group that hangs out at her bar, decides to work on the 12 year old murder of Tiny's 14 year old sister and her girl friend. While one of these cases is solved the other is left hanging for the next book. Not a favorite set up for me but I like the characters and plan to continue with the series.
