The third book of a trilogy, the baby in book #2 is now 11 years old and the family decides to move back to Australia leading to work issues and their son having adjustment challenges to the all the changes. I enjoyed the last installment of trilogy. Don is a great character and it was fun to see how he interacted with his 11 year old son while negotiating work and friend problems. There maybe too many issues packed into the book but still an engaging read. Sad to see the end of the family.

Review: Patrick and Jono are back and better then ever in the latest book in the series. In this story we get entrenched in Celtic mythology for allies and enemies. Turns out that Patrick's former captain is actually an alias for Immortal hero Cu Chulainn. The case starts with a changeling incident. and both the seelie and unseelie courts versions of the Wild Hunt (seelie) (view spoiler) are wrecking havoc in New York. Bargaining with the Fae is never a good idea for while the Fae cannot lie they are masters of the half-truth. In this Story we see Jono taking the steps that are needed to claim New York as his new God pack's territory, and Estelle and Youssef are still both spoiled alphas in it for the prestige and not the responsibility of the position. we have Patrick doing everything he can to save the world even while risking himself. Want to see more from this series.

Abby Normal wants to become a vampire but instead she's living with her older boyfriend and watching over the statues of Jody and Flood to make sure they come to no harm. There are vampire cats roaming the city killing everything in site and Abby with her boyfriend and a couple of cops are trying to stop Chet the lead vampire cat from destroying the city. Christopher Moore always has offbeat characters and I wind up laughing a lot.
Awesome Team. Elena, Shelly & Dale does it look like ya'll will finish today & me roll tonight? Or will it be tomorrow?

Book: MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood
Qualification: 3rd in MaddAddam series
Finished: Oct 2
Rating: ★★★1/5
Review:
MaddAddam is the final book in Margaret Atwood's post-apocalyptic trilogy. I am not sure this book was entirely necessary, to be honest - parts of it follow the story started in books one and two, but parts are more of an accompaniment to them and offer yet another perspective on the same events. I really enjoyed some sections of the book, and, having finished it now, I would've preferred to have some plot lines left open. But Atwood is such an amazing writer and she ends the series on the hopeful note, so I'm inclined to regard it as positive reading experience :)

Review
This book concludes the Nauti Trilogy. I have enjoyed getting to know the Mackay cousins. This book in particular was my favourite of the series. It concludes the story of the 3 cousins and their wives. I didn't like Natches to start with in the previous books however, in this book he grew on me.
I loved the daring rescue of Chaya.

Delia Rising: A Ballet in Three Acts by Janette DeFelice
Qualification: Alternate - number in the title
Finished: 10/4/2019
Rating: ☆☆☆☆
Review: This is the story of Victoria and her daughter Delia. To quote Victoria, it's about people being "stuck in one situation, but longing for another."
I didn't feel the story was about a dance mom, a backstage mom, or a daughter being forced to pursue a career in dance. It was more. Like so many parents, Victoria has spent the last 17 years of her life focusing on Delia and lost sight of herself. Now that Delia has left the nest, what will she do with the rest of her life? She also questions whose dream is Delia really pursuing? Her own or Victoria's? Now that 17 year-old Delia has a taste of freedom, does she really want to dance professionally?
The story touches on quite a few different issues. You have the mother's back story and the daughter's "coming of age". Yes, there are some plot points you see coming, but they didn't make the story less enjoyable. I liked that Victoria realizes she needs a life independent of her daughter's and not cling to Delia. I also liked Delia's character. She expresses her desire to be independent, pursue other interest besides dance without being rebellious. With her new found independence she makes some questionable choices.

Review: I started this series in january of 2018 and am now finally reading book 6. I owned it but got sidetracked by other challenges. I love this story about the Ancient Hell Hound Dag and the yound geeky teacher Sandro. Sandro is one of the saved souls who the now heaven allied hounds are protecting along which angels. Sandro happens upon someone trying to kidnap a student (8 year old) and take his place as the captive and wound himself trying to make the kidnapping be vain when Dag rescue him and Sandro calls ariel to him who heals him and brings both of them back to the Compound. We get hint of the plans of the angel to beat the demons. Geek equation proving Sandro's love for Dag is great.

Review: The fourth book of the series takes a look back at the history of one of the teachers at the school. Kathryn lost her friends when her dad became principal of the school. She learned to enjoy being isolated and lonely and that there were advantages to be had with being quiet and following the rules. Then she wandered through a door and found friendship but was soon torn between family and friends and with consequences. I enjoyed the snapshot of one character's world.

Book: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
Qualification: 4th in Hercule Poirot series
Finished: Oct 8
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
Poirot is retired and moves to a small village to grow vegetables but is pulled back into investigating when he is asked to help solve the murder of his friend and neighbour.
I first read this book twenty-plus years ago and the only thing I remembered from then was the big reveal (which is one of the greatest, no doubt! I remember being VERY surprised, so much in fact, that it stayed with me for decades). But not much else, so it was almost like reading a completely new book. Almost :) And it's still great! It was fun reading it with the murderer in mind and picking up all the clues along the way, but of course, being a reread, it lacked the thrill and excitement of the first time. Still I really enjoyed it and consider it one of the best mysteries from one of my favourite mystery writers.

Review: Joe Grey and Dulcie are talking cats but they only talk to a few they trust. Their little ward "Kit" keeps getting in trouble. Kate, Wilma and Clyde together with the cats try to solve the murders and find the little girl who could clear Max Harper as well. There is a cougar in the outskirts of the town which poses another obstacle. Its a fun read especially if you like cats.

Really enjoyed this book. Gabe and Mia were in a difficult position. Mia is Gabes best friends younger sister and Mia has had a crush on Gabe since she was a teenager.
What started with a contract and employment as Gabe's personal assistant soon turned into love. Though the ups and downs leading to that were at times hard.

Review: Detectives (Ds) Antoinette Conway and and Stephen Moran try to solve who killed Aislinn Murray and why. Ds Conway and Moran are usually assigned to the open and shut cases. Aislinn Murray's appears to be the same, until Conway and Moran decide that the main suspect, just might not be the doer.Complicating things is the fact that Antoinette (the only woman in the Murder Squad) is not liked by anyone except her partner. Also, there seems to be a mysterious man lurking around Antoinette.
This story has the usual twist and turns, but for some reason I had a hard time getting into this one. I thought it could have ended 75-100 pages earlier. This is the first book I've read in the series. Maybe because I'm not familiar with the characters and really didn't care a whole lot about what was going on with Antoinette. I just wanted them to solve the case - the who and why. That being said, I think this would make a good mini-series on television.

This has really been Hell Week for us huh!
Agreed. I managed my reading on a 17 hour flight but between jet lag and power outtages (no AC at night and its the hot season), it has been a long and tired week. Thankfully its finally the weekend! Best wishes to all for a better week!

Something was just missing with this story. I can't put my finger in it, tho. Not sure what it could be. However, I can't wait for the next book & the next! Flove this series!
