After years of being confined to the school and the surrounding grounds, Sandro Thompson tries to make little joys like hooking up extra chocolate and booze for his friends when deliveries come in. A math savant and head of the department, he doesn’t always interact well with people, but the souls like him—they’re more than people… They’re his brothers.
Dagfinn Lundberg, retired Hellhound, does everything he can to fight the good fight, the battle he believes the angels should be in, which also leads him to keep to himself. When recently acquired visions drive him into action, he never expects to encounter his mate. Weighed down with baggage, trust issues, and rusty communication skills, it’s no wonder Dag isn’t welcomed with open arms by anyone.
But someone who speaks in math and variables paired up with a man who doesn’t talk to anyone much isn’t the best match. Can Sandro use that genius head of his to calculate their interactions better or will Dag have to take a leap of faith and simply tell Sandro how he feels?
This one was too cute! Dag ( hound) and Sandro( human).
Dag not only comes from one of the oldest hound lines to serve hell, but his litter is a century old. His mate is one of the saved souls and a 24 yr old virgin to boot. These two have nothing in common other than how fate brought them together.
Their story is sweet, and Dag's sense of humor (very dry) made me laugh out loud once or twice.
Wonderful story of two people getting together that speak totally different languages in the beginning but yet they speak the same language. Very interesting how they work things out for themselves as things do get very intense at moments where you think it is totally over and there is no coming back from the actions that just happened.

Total Score: 50/50
Summary: Dag may have been a thousand years old, but when he started having visions he didn't know what was going on. Luckily he choose to follow them because they sent him to the precise moment to save Sandro's, his mate, life. Sandro is a gifted mathematician and also one of the original saved souls. The idea that your family would be willing to sell your soul to the devil for any reason was crazy, but Sandro has to live with that knowledge every day of his life. Misunderstandings were abound as Sandro and Dag struggle with the idea of being mates. Their differences in age coupled with Sandro's past added to his problems with social interactions created both funny and heartbreaking situations. Add to that Arch Angels who are dealing with their own emotional problems and you have a story that rocked from the very beginning.
This was a pretty good book! This poor couple had drama from the gate! They both seemed to just speak totally different languages. There was a time or 2 when I felt like Dag and sandro were being overly sensitive or dramatic but it did make for good reading. One thing that bothered me was Sandro was described as someone who basically had no social skills and lived inside his own head. Also he was supposed to be a Genius which only emphasized the anti social characteristics. However, in the beginning of the book he is caught in a sticky situation while buying under the table liquor and other "black market" items for him and his friends. So needless to say although he was described a certain way there was really no evidence to support that description. The only time that aspect of his personality was brought to light was when it was used to give a punchy ending to the book. Other than that I think the book played out well. There was certainly enough drama to keep us entertained. It's nice when not everything falls into place perfectly for a couple. It's more fun when there's a little work to be done :-)
Another great book. I love how hounds interact with their mates. A new twist to the story, too, one I didn't expect. I'm very curious how it goes from now on.
Number six in the series is just as amazing to read as one through five! I can't wait to get to 7 and then the next and the next, I love this series!!!!
