Not it. The male and female protagonists in the book I'm trying to remember don't meet until they get the wilderness camp. Also, I think the camp they end up at with the others (maybe 10 kids in all and the one "counselor") is in the southwest US.
Nope. I had no idea there were so many YA books about wilderness camps for troubled teens. And that last one looks good; I put it on my Want to Read list.
Not any of these, either. My memory of the opening is the boy in a HS Quiz competition, and answering all but the last question and messing up on that last question (maybe). I also want to say there is something to do with space or stars in the title, although that isn't really part of the plot.
