The 2014 FALL FEAR Challenge

Fall is upon us. There is a chill in the air. The days are shorter, the nights longer, and the shadows take on lives of their own when the wind blows. Time to curl up in your favorite chair with a blanket, a warming drink, the pets and a good book. We want to keep that delicious chill alive, so we're looking for atmospheric, seasonal tales of fear. Quiet horror. Here is a link with 31 suggestions for your reading pleasure.

I have just finished Bad Apples: Five Slices of Halloween Horror, and I'm looking for a recommendation or two from the list. Anyone have one?
I was thinking about reading Dark Harvest.

Scot, The Elementals was fantastic! Also, Something Wicked This Way Comes kicked butt.
I thought Dark Harvest was just okay.

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year. Sadly Florida doesn't give a 'true fall' but it's the best time of the year regardless, depending on how cool it gets. Like your description of it - makes me want to head home and start reading on the new couch already.

I already had some horror books planned for October - Halloween Man from Douglas Clegg and The Manse are two I had planned already, so I'll take part of the two on the list.

Manuel, the list is full of some suggestions to get readers started. Feel free to read anything you want towards the challenge and recommend anything you choose for youeself. It may spark some interest from others.

I think I'm going to try and read as many as possible. Going to struggle with getting a few. Started yesterday and read The Halloween Tree, and now onto Usher's Passing. This challenge will help me read a lot of books that gave been on my tbr for a while!

You don't have to, Tom, but it definitely helps. Since The Fall of the House of Usher is a short story, I do recommend reading it first.

i recently re-listened to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. i absolutely love it! i love the descriptions of sleepy hollow. something is definitely up with that land!
