I love the full fall meals! All the colors. I have actually tried the vegan way once and did OK. Butter is difficult for me to turn away, but I do what I can.

Cabbages and lettuce beware.Woah this thread is huge and we havent even started the book yet.
Question ... are we reading at own pace or doing a couple chapters a day. Informal baseball cap wearing zombie or suit and tie zombie?
Im debating whether to get the author's preferred version as i already have the original on my kindle, decisions decisions.
At your own pace Ange :-) just remember when discussing book or events in book as you progress to use spoiler tags. That is the main rule. You can read as fast or slow as you want, as long as you enjoying yourself.

I love Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin bread is good too. But I think that Pumpkin pie is my favorite of all the pumpkin deserts I've tried.

Get the Rising authors preferred edition! For every copy of the authors preferred edition in someone's reading list we donate a fresh brains to a zombie in need!
@Everyone.
I read the intro to The Rising: Death in Four Colors. I never knew that if things had gone Brian Keene's way he would of had The Rising turned into a video game, a movie and a comic book series. Originally The Rising franchise would of became Brian Keene's meal ticket. Unfortunately bad luck and poor choice in developers caused the project to fall into limbo. Where most cool ideas and projects go to die.
Wow, that's too bad for Mr. Keene, I'd sayIf there were vegan zombies, then what would they eat? It would be a unique book...Earth has fallen to the vegan zombies. The few humans that are left can not survive without a plentiful amount of vegetables, hopefully grown fresh. However the vegan zombies (nicknamed VZ due to the lack of writing materials in this strange new world) are attacking all vegetable gardens. Even locked greenhouses. Will the human race survive!! If you thought vegans drove you crazy in the old world, just wait until you read this new offering by Michael Meater.
Mehmet: Will you grandmother share her recipe? I love baking this time of year. I was think of making something for dessert tonight, but I'm not certain I will have time. Who knows...we might end up ordering pizza, yet again, tonight!! LOL
Mehmet wrote: ":-) thought so but could not remember the title of the Halloween movie. The only horror guy who never went to space was Freddie Krueger !!!!!"This is just begging for some fanfic of him finding his way into the dream of some kid who wants to be an astronaut.
Hello everyone :) As usual I am here, but late to the party :) Always miss the great posts and now there is too much for me to read...skimming through though I'km getting the impression no one really started yet reading (or posting comments)?
I'll start this one next after I finish the freebie I decided to read...I guess a lot of you buy freebies as well? Well I got sick of piling them up and have stopped buying them altogether for more than a month as there is no point if I'm never gonna read them. But I decided to finally keep track of the freebies that catch my eye and I started actually writing down the titles that I figure i might be interested in reading. And I'm on my second book already :)
Have to say a great decision. It's great to read new authors, especially if you catch a book that is written great and that keeps you up reading.
Check this one out, I'm really enjoying it so far...it's a post-apocalyptic sci-fi story, really interesting:
Botanicaust by Tam Linsey
Well, till later;)
N.
We haven't started yet Natasa. So far it's just three pages of chit chat. Not really a whole lot to catch up on. =)
I believe were are starting the 13th?, is that right, Jonathan or Mehmet?Natasa, that sounds like an interesting post-apocalyptic story. I do enjoy my post-apocalyptic stories. Also I use to download every free book I could get. Then I had to stop, just got ridiculous. It is a good idea to write down the books. On the old first generation kindle I could organize my books. Now with the FIRE, that's not possible...it's the only think I don't like about the FIRE. But I think I am going to take your advise and start a list. Also I need to start keeping lists of what I intend to read. I don't want to promise too many reads...I've only promised 5 this month and I think I'm going to add a couple more. Seven is workable, but no more. Then I want to read what I want to read. I just read Nowhere Blvd. and am about 40% into The Queen of Bedlam. I'll be reading The Elementals this weekend and Bay's End early next week. Hopefully I can finish up Bedlam by then and start our first book...oh wait, are we reading three books? Ooops! perhaps I have more to read than I thought. GOOD TIMES!!
Peace out!!

Oh yeah? Well I don't believe you dark heart, white heart, Cookie dark heart white heart. ;)
Got all three books on my kindle Jonathan :-)Running bit behind on updating the people who joined the buddy read. Please bare with me folks very busy.
Also Pamillia if I can get hold of recipe I send it to you. Need to speak with family first. It's a Cypriot style pastry.
Ange wrote: "Got me the authors preferred book :)"As promised one hungry zombie will have a full diet of healthy brains for your generous purchase of the authors preferred edition!
Maybe we should start a charity campaign, "Zs in need", "fight for the biters" or "rise up for the risen"
Hi Folks,I promise I won't lurk or horn in on the group discussion. But just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the support. Hope the group reading goes well. This is very cool to see. ;-)

I'll try not to go all fanboy on you but...
Aaah! Brian Keene!!! This is a awesome surprise! You are more then welcome to join us whenever you want! It would be cool to get your thoughts every now and then! I would definitely be honored!
Thanks so much for joining in!
Wow I feel very honoured. Welcome Brian and as my great friend Jonathan said you are very welcome to join in anytime you choose.
Just a group notice, since we all seem to be ready and have copies of the book. So we are bringing the start of the buddy read forward to this Wednesday, which is 8th of October. Hope this is ok with everyone :-)
Lisa wrote: "I agree with Jonathan and Mehmet, wow and welcome, Brian Keene!! Join us anytime. :)"Nice to see you here, Brian. Looking forward to reading and discussing your books. Thanks for popping in.
OK, this is a question I have, that I don't think has been answered. Are we starting to read on the 8th or are we starting to discuss on the 8th. I'm wondering, tight schedule for this monthI don't think I have the books yet, but I found these on amazon.com, so it will take a very small amount of time to download.
Peace Out!
I really hope you join us when you have the free time Brian Keene! Also on a related note, anyone who ends up being a fan of Mr. Brian Keene's awesome zombie series, might want to grab a nifty Rising zombie shirt to help support his awesome work!

If his shirts sell really well, we might even see a Earthworm Gods T-Shirt in the works! I already ordered mine this morning!
Pamellia wrote: "this is a question I have, that I don't think has been answered. Are we starting to read on the 8th or are we starting to discuss on the 8th...."We are definitely starting everything on October 8th. But if it is more convenient for you, you can start the read earlier. I know a lot of members have a lot of Halloween book clubs they might be a part of. So if it helps with your schedule you can start reading today. But the discussion should definitely start on Wednesday with spoiler tags hiding key plot points for those who are behind everyone else.
As Jonathan said, Pamillia we are actual starting the buddy read on the 8th. :-) so you got time to get the book electronically. You can start when you ready though. Which mean before or after the set date.
The only ones I haven't' confirmed with would be Tim and Zac. Everyone else should have a copy of the book to read! =)Who knew by getting thirteen members for the buddy read, we would inadvertently summon the great Brian Keene?
Tim wrote: "I'm in I have it on my kindle I'm hopeing it's the right one"Hi Tim! Did you manage to secure the The Rising: Author's Preferred Edition version of the book?
=)
For every Author's Preferred Edition purchased we feed a hungry zombie in need!
Thanks for popping in Brian, I think I can speak for everyone that we are all keen to start reading and discussing your book. Yay for bringing the date forward!

Hi Brian. You're welcome to join us anytime you want.
I know I'm looking forward to reading The Rising and City of the Dead with everyone.
This was actually my first real zombie novel that I read back in 2008. I don't think I read another zombie book before this one. Though they aren't technically zombies, the official name for them is the Siqqusim. They aren't really demons either, but a race of ghostly creatures that inhabit the dead bodies of the planet Earth. It doesn't matter if it's human, animal or fish. If it's living then they can possess it when it's dead.
Jonathan wrote: "This was actually my first real zombie novel that I read back in 2008. I don't think I read another zombie book before this one. So I have 2 days to finish up The Elementals and start/finish Bay's End. Good times!
I wouldn't really say it's a spoiler, unless you count the first page a spoiler. It is pretty much revealed to you in the first chapter and introduction of the book. These days spoilers are interpreted many different ways, I usually just assume anything after the introduction is a spoiler though.
OK, it's fine with me, Jonathan...I was presenting my comments to be comical, obviously I totally failed...but I am not discouraged!I've noticed some of the Valancourt court published books have very long elaborate introductions written by modern day authors. I know when writing a review or introduction it's difficult not to simply write a synopsis of the plot, but these intros are ridiculous. There is too much information about the plot of the book and it can really spoil the story. So if any of you every read a Valancourt book (which I highly recommend), I would advise not to read the introduction until you have finished the book.
Hmm...where'd that come from...it's early.
Ha ha ha! I apologize! I am clueless when it comes to picking up humor sometimes. Anyone dressing up for Halloween this year?
Jonathan wrote: "Ha ha ha! I apologize! I am clueless when it comes to picking up humor sometimes. Anyone dressing up for Halloween this year?"
I am having a costume party, so yes I will be dressing up. Haven't decided what I am going to be though. Either a jilted bride, since I was supposed to be getting married this Halloween(which is not happening) or a spider lady because the theme for my party is spiders. Either way I am excited, I love Halloween!!
I always thought of The Rising as a traditional Zombie novel. In the mode of Night of the living dead. So I suppose you could say this will be my first Zombie novel, although I have read some zombie books.
Hi, everyone! Are we reading this yet? I kind of lost track of time. lolHope you guys and gals had a great weekend! :)
We are starting in a couple of days! On a side note..... Brian Keene and David Lynch just made my day today! Mr. Lynch is releasing a new season of Twin Peaks. And Mr. Keene gave a release date for the Black Bible.
