The Rising series by Brian Keene (spoiler warnings)
In the book I just started, Edward Lee made a reference to Brian Keene in the dedication part. Rather fitting I thought with this conservation we are having :-) Also Brian Keene mention Edward Lee in that interview you posted the link to Jonathan.
Hi, I'm new to the group. Already have the book and have started it. I'm loving it! Looking forward to sharing with all of you :)
Welcome Donna! Tell us about yourself! What are some of your favorite books!
Whatever you do, don't feed the zombies in this thread! That is Mehmet and Lisa's job.
Yep I got my protective clothing and the know how :-) these zombies can bite your whole hand of if not careful.

I think Edward Lee is a mentor of Brian Keene..
I started reading Edward and Brian Keene same time to be honest Jonathan. I read Backwoods, Header and Pages torn from a travel journal. Plus I am reading Header 2 at moment. So in my research I noticed they were friends. Did not know he was his mentor though ! You should be our groups researcher, you always seem to come up with interesting info :-)
Mehmet wrote: "You should be our groups researcher, you always seem to come up with interesting info :-) ..."I would be honored! I could be the official Brian Keene spokesperson.
Lisa wrote: "A new job description! Yay!!"
The benefits are a new insightful way of looking at the human brain if you get infected! ;)
looking forward to this buddy read! I bought the book last night!P.S. Hey, Jonny, you notice what name Mehmet used in the sign up sheet? He knows my correct buddy read name. :p
Mehmet wrote: "Jonathan we name you chief Professor of research and neuro-zombie-anatomy :-)"Hell yeah! That is perfect for me.
My first assignment is to train Lisa, Krystle and Donna how to play fetch with the zombies. I heard they are particularly fond of retrieving fresh kidneys.

Hey Mehmet she likes her Goodreads username spelled "Cookie" with no S! B)
Mehmet wrote: "So I must write Cookie and not Cookies, got that Jonathan ! I write it in our zombie journal :-)"Yep! You got it.
You are definitely on your way to becoming a true undead master!
;)
Yes, Mehmet I got the preferred edition. :)Nooooooooooooo! Don't listen to Jonny! My Name should be Cookies with the "S". Don't let Jonny confuse you with his helpful act!
You are doing good Mehmet! Keep this up and you will be going places my friend! I award you the gold access card to Brian Keene's Labyrinth! With it you are super cool like Bruce Campbell and that guy from They Live! You are now given access to our secret armory of catch phrases!
Use them wisely and responsibly!
Jon Jon, stop bribing Mehmet!! You Know I don't have any keys to the city of zombies or whatever it is you just promised him!My name is Cookies darn it! lol
Darn it ! It is a great prize Jonathan offered me :-( but Cookies is what we must stick to ! Cookies all the way
I'm in for the first one - if I love it, I'll tag along for the other two! I've been meaning to read this for ages.

Well, Mehmet gave me a protective suit, so I am good. :)
Here are the cookies, but no one share with Jonny! Lol
He likes gluten and dairy free vegan cookies anyway. :p
Wow! What a wild and crazy thread! Love it. I'd join in, but I fear I'd break the rhythm...I read an Edward Lee book recently. I recall being very surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Will have to do some research and figure out with one it was and if I wrote a review.
Oh no! My secret addiction to delicious vegan snacks has been revealed to all!!! Noooo! :(
Operation Vegan Zombies will be the doom of everyone! You just wait and see!
Pamillia do not be afraid to join in with any comment you wish to make. :-) yeah I find Edward really enjoyable even while I find his novels so sick and gory ! Ahhhh do not be frightened Jonathan your secret addiction is safe with me :-) I will not tell anyone. Sure we can convince Cookies to make you a batch if we say pretty please :-)
Pretty please Cookies have mercy on our Jonathan and make some vegan cookies
Kinda embarassed to admit that this will be my first Brian Keene book. Based upon all you're posts I am really excited about this buddy read.
Hey Sean that is nothing to be embarrassed about mate :-) I am also looking so forward to read this series.
Well, I don't know if you would consider Jason Vorhees to be a zombie or not he is among the living dead but he doesn't eat people. He did however go to space.
:-) thought so but could not remember the title of the Halloween movie. The only horror guy who never went to space was Freddie Krueger !!!!!
Sean wrote: "Kinda embarassed to admit that this will be my first Brian Keene book. Based upon all you're posts I am really excited about this buddy read."That is actually prefect Sean, because this was the first published novel of Brian Keene. This is pretty much where his legend begins.
As such this isn't Brian Keene's favorite novel. His favorite novel (That he wrote.) is most likely The Girl on the Glider. Since The Rising is his first novel , looking back at his first work is kind of embarrassing for him. However a lot of fans consider it to be their favorite book and there is no doubt that it's fun chaotic zombie goodness.

Actually, Sean, I do believe this is my first Keene novel. I did look through my books listed over on Shelfari and didn't find anything.Hey, great!! A fellow vegan! But I must admit I break the Vegan by-laws a lot, especially for cookies! Yea, baby, get those cookies going, Cookie!
Pamellia wrote: "Hey, great!! A fellow vegan! .."
I try to stick to it the best I can, but I have messed up a few times over the last several years as well. Whoever said that you can't get fat being a Vegan, has never ate delicious Vegan cakes and cookies. Recently I stuffed myself with a delicious Vegan pumpkin cake. It was to die for.....
I love all types of Pumpkin spices and deserts, especially during the month of October.

Mehmet said the same thing to me I think, that Edward Lee andRichard Laymon make Brian Keene look very tame in comparison. I have never read their work though, so I am definitely learning a lot about the splatter punk genre from the both of you.
