Jackie | 2143 comments I've got O and N books coming up so I can definitely do a set of those. Also, I can take X if we decide to do the word Six.

I also have an X and a couple of U's if we decide on Audio.

Based on Louise's analyzing, the letters and how many we need are below. If we concentrate on books that work for these and post all the letter they work for, then at the end of the week we can place them where they work and see where we are?

A - 1
B - 1
D - 1
I - 4
N - 6
O - 5
S - 1
U - 1
X - 1
Y - 1

Laura | 5524 comments Do we have enough books available to do all of these? We don’t want to get bumped up into the next category right?

message 105: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments Here's what I have planned this week:

Jacob - char I; series N
Protecting Paige - author N
Now That You Mention It - title N
Shadow of the Hawk - char O; title S
On Her Own Two Wheels - title O; author X
Celebrity in Death - series I

If we need it, I can do a U.

I don't know about that, I just went by what Louise has in the spreadsheet.

message 107: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments So if we're Crater level, that's 21-40 books total. After Countdown and Groups 1 & 2, we should have up to 22 left for Group 3. Right?

message 108: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments Our spreadsheet says both Crater and Molten on it. We’ve been reading like Molten level for the extra requirements. We’re allowed to change our signup level after the first round.

I’m game for Molten. I estimated low for my # of books.

message 109: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments Molten is only up to 20 books. I think we said Crater when we started.

message 110: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3331 comments 22 books takes us to the limit on crater level.

Our spreadsheet says Molten as that is the number of books we’ve read so far. Once we’ve read and logged 21 books that will change to crater.
The next level would be Magma..

message 111: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments Got it. I thought Crater was the lower number. :)

Post it in here and add it to the s/Sheet if books need moving before the deadline to fill gaps that’s straightforward enough to do.

Laura | 5524 comments For Countdown, I can do 10, 9, 8, 7, 4, 3

I'll check for the lists right now. For #2, I don't actually pay attention to the color of the author's skin, so I probably have several I could read and I just don't realize it. :)

Found an audio copy of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Only 150 pages! On the list for #6.

Found a book for the list from #1 that also has a state name in the title.

So basically, for the Countdown I can do anything except #2. I can do 3 this time around, since Louise & LaurLa did the heavy lifting last time. :)

My BOM that I didn't read in Round 1 works for the C in ACID.

Laura | 5524 comments Bright Green enough? Magic Study (Study, #2) by Maria V. Snyder

Or this one? The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Oz, #1) by L. Frank Baum

message 140: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments I can probably do any except state in the title for the countdown and can definitely do #2. #10 would be hard but I can find one.

Laura what was the BOM you were going to do?

Group 2
i - Read a book with green writing on the cover where the title contains the letters A-C-I-D
Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody, #1) by Elizabeth Peters
iii - Read a book with something nasty on the cover (open to interpretation) and that contains the word LEMON in the text or title
The Dirt on Ninth Grave (Charley Davidson, #9) by Darynda Jones - some people might consider skulls in their coffee kind of nasty

message 141: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments My BOM is Storm Glass by Maria Snyder. It’s a re-read for me, so will be quick.

We can also check what books other teams have read this round.

I can do letter A in the spell-out if others can come up with BOMs. I can double check other team books if no one wants to do a BOM.

message 143: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments For Countdown, I can do any of them, #1 is the hardest but I can find something if necessary. I can take three this time too.

message 144: by Jackie (last edited Aug 21, 2019 06:27PM) (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments For Group 1, I can read The Iron King which was a BOM and works for I in ACID.

For Group 2, I have one for iv - Read a book with a green item on the cover and that contains the letters A-C-I-D in the author's name (doesn't need to be in that order)

message 145: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments That’s a great series, Jackie! Odd that #2 was BOM! :)

Jackie | 2143 comments Laura wrote: "That’s a great series, Jackie! Odd that #2 was BOM! :)"

Maybe that's not right. I found it under the All tab on the BOM spreadsheet. Looks like it was a buddy read. Is that okay?

message 147: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments I’m pretty sure it has to be BOM, not Buddy Read.

message 148: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 2143 comments After looking at it again, I think you're right. I'll change it to The Iron King instead.
