I'll give you the same good advice I got from others when I struggled a bit with this first book in the series.... stay with it. Don't get bogged down with all the characters and the way the story moves from one location to another. Just get the basic storyline with Charlie Parker and Angel and Louis. They're the ones that matter the most in the series. And trust me (and Char who loves this series as much as I do!) this will be one of the best written and most imaginative series you'll ever find.

It would be so much fun to go to a bookstore, used or otherwise, with the HA group. We'd clean the place out and max out our credit cards. :)

Just got to the beginning of Ch18.I didn't have a ton of time to read on the weekend but I'm still enjoying the book and Charlie Parker. You seem to get more characterization about him and I'm liking that.

That's a good description of Parker. There is both the light and the dark in him, always doing battle. He only kills the irredeemable but he does kill.

I would say Charlie Parker is somewhere inbetween Repairman Jack and Spencer for Hire. And Louis is totally his Hawk.
