I'll give you the same good advice I got from others when I struggled a bit with this first book in the series.... stay with it. Don't get bogged down with all the characters and the way the story moves from one location to another. Just get the basic storyline with Charlie Parker and Angel and Louis. They're the ones that matter the most in the series. And trust me (and Char who loves this series as much as I do!) this will be one of the best written and most imaginative series you'll ever find.

Just got to Angel and Louis! Fascinating characters and I'm so glad to see they carry on in the series.
That's great to hear WendyB about the characters and just getting the first book done. I really love the writing and Charlie Parker as a MC so far!

It doesn’t take much for us to go all in, does it, hahaha. Good call.

Nope!! :D LOL!!!

It would be so much fun to go to a bookstore, used or otherwise, with the HA group. We'd clean the place out and max out our credit cards. :)

Yes it would!! What a blast it would be.
There would be no books available in the horror and mystery sections after we were all done!! 🤣😂

Halloween in July. I like it!
Latasha wrote: "Well I went Fall/Halloween shopping. It was dangerous."
It's never too early for that. What did you buy?

I got a pumpkin spice sign, a little crow.., it was more fall stuff than Halloween but my friends are telling me Big Lots(if you have one near by) is putting stuff out today! I’ll have to take a picture later on.

I’ve got a Big Lots near me!! Looks like I’m going Halloween shopping soon. 😂👍
By the way, that used book store was AMAZING!
Wow, going there as much as I can. It’s the biggest used book store in Washington state.
I loaded up on Charlie Parker books. 😜🤷🏼♀️

that's so great!
that's so great!

That’s awesome, Ginger. Nothing but tiny used bookstores where I’m at, and rarely anything I want, so I’m jealous!
I made it to the end of ch14. You are right, (view spoiler)

Yeah, I don’t know what to think about the description! It sounds crazy and scary.
We don’t even have a bookstore in my town. The near by used ones are ok but I rarely find anything.

I'm so bumbed for you both!!! Damn :(

I didn't have a ton of time to read on the weekend but I'm still enjoying the book and Charlie Parker. You seem to get more characterization about him and I'm liking that.

Same boat, although I’m still at the start of ch15.
I read up to chapter 12. I’m going to focus only on this one. It’s due back (to the library) on the 7th.

Sounds good! I'll try and get at least 3 chapters in a day. I'll be able to read a lot this week.

I made it to ch18. I was surprised, but not surprised when we found out (view spoiler)

I’ve not seen any of those movies, but I do get what you mean. 😁

I loved the first 2! I haven’t seen the 3rd yet. They are exciting and fun to watch! Definitely gory too since he basically beats everyone’s ass! LOL!
I think you would like them with what we usually read. Ha!
I did not expect the traveling man to call Charlie.I don’t know what movie you mentioned Ginger, but sometimes the story makes me think of Se7en. Which I love.

I think Charlie has many shades of grey.

That's a good description of Parker. There is both the light and the dark in him, always doing battle. He only kills the irredeemable but he does kill.

That's what I love about his character! He's very street smart along with being light and dark. He's a very grey character and those end up being my favorites!

You'll find that Charlie is more than meets the eye."
I'm loving the first book so far Jon and looking forward to the rest of the series. I will definitely keep reading! :D

Yes, totally agree Latasha!! I was talking about the John Wick movies to Terry up above if you didn't know what movie that I was mentioning.
I’ll get behind again. I just got hit hard with overtime at work. I’ll try my hardest to stay caught up. Sorry guys, I sure don’t want to do it. 🙄

I would say Charlie Parker is somewhere inbetween Repairman Jack and Spencer for Hire. And Louis is totally his Hawk.

Don't worry at all, Latasha! I'm going to be moving along slowly. I've not had any time to read today at all because of work also.

That's what ..."
I had to look up Repairman Jack. Sounds like an interesting character and series!!

I agree, Latasha. I’m hoping it gets easier as we go to keep them straight.
