☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Hi team. So names hmm, the only volcano I've visited was Mount Etna but looked up same volcanoes and got a few but liked Mauna Lua. LOL

Keli | 1319 comments Hi all. I like Muana Lua, too.

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments Hello. I'm fine with going with Mauna Lua as well.

Name picking is never an easy chore. I always feel at a loss to come up with choices.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Yeah me too. I hate trying to come up with names. Sometimes I can get them quick

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Checking in 😀

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I am good with Mauna Lua 😀

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Hi team. I see we have our name. LOL

I couldn't get anything done yesterday with the storm. It knocked our cable out so we had no wifi and of course no tv which is crazier with a house full of kids. LOL

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I'm not the biggest pre-planner for books. But we can use this time to start looking at the Section 1 reads we need planning.

I get it and yes we should. LOL

message 13: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments How do you want to do it? Should we each take a couple numbers?

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Keli wrote: "How do you want to do it? Should we each take a couple numbers?"

That sounds like an idea. Hmm, not sure what the tasks are. LOL

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Round 1 tasks: IF you see a task that you'd like to claim, post below and I'll update it here.

10 first published on the 10th of a month Keli
9 with at least nine characters (need to have a speaking part, do not need to be main characters) Nikk
8 that has a carnivorous animal on the cover Keli
7 written by an author who has published at least seven books (as listed on Goodreads) Nikk
6 that is number six in the series Carmen
#5 that was first published in the 1950s  Plethora
4 where the audio version has at least four narrators Plethora
#3 that is part of what was originally a planned trilogy, but became a longer series (can include .5 books added later) Plethora
2 that has two authors (as credited on Goodreads) Carmen
1 which is the author's debut novel Keli

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments May I claim 9 and 7?

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Nikk the Sapphired Book Dragon wrote: "May I claim 9 and 7?"

Sure ☺

message 19: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments I'll go for 8 and 1

message 20: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments I have seen that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published on the 10th. If get this stupid Ready Player One finished in the next few days days. I can start that just before we begin and have it finished just after we start. Unless we have to start reading on the 12th, in which case it would take me a couple days after the game starts to finish it.
So I could possibly get in 10, 8 & 1

Keli we have to start our readings on the 12th. I believe that's what I read in the rules

message 22: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments Correct, we can't start reading until challenge starts. And we can't start the other section / tasks until we complete the reading of these 10

message 23: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments Looks like I'm left with 3, 4, 5

Off to search so I can have three audios lined up

message 24: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments Ok, I just found that Depravity was published on the 10th and it's only 236 pages of genre I'm more into than children's classics. So I'll start that on the 12th. I'm gmt time, so I probably won't have it finished until that evening. Like half a day after the competition starts. But it will give you all time to get stuck into your books. Of course I'm eight, so you may have to wait a bit again. 😕

message 25: by Keli (last edited Jul 28, 2019 10:15AM) (new)

Keli | 1319 comments We should swap one Plethora. Maybe 4 or 5. Just to even out the numbers a bit. Otherwise, you're reading all three in a row.

message 26: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments 50s books are easy enough to find. That four narrators one though looks hard. Do they mean four separate narrators or narration from four pov?

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments I'm going to try and see if I can find something to help out. Not sure what I'll find be we shall see.

message 28: by Keli (last edited Jul 28, 2019 11:30AM) (new)

Keli | 1319 comments Should we also plan out our safezone tasks? Cos even though we can't start reading those until we're done with countdown, we can start reading for each safezone group as soon as we're in the first safezone. So if we're close to finishing one safezone some can start reading for the next. You just can't finish a book before the current safezone is complete. So we could plan out the two weeks based on our category.

I'm not worried about them being in a row because we don't have to read these consecutively. We just ask have to finish the 10 before we get to the safezone.

At least that was my understanding for that portion.

message 30: by Plethora (last edited Jul 29, 2019 11:21PM) (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I think this is my lineup :

5. Excellent Women pub 1952

4. Northanger Abbey Over 4 narrators

3. The Last Ever After Book 3 of a planned trilogy that is now 6 books. (I'm verifying this works)but this is long, so I'll keep looking, but have as a backup.

I've only just seen this. Good to know they don't need to be in order and that y'all didn't have to wait for me to finish.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I don’t have an specific books planned for my first two tasks. I was thinking for 9: a book with at least 9 characters I can go with which ever in death book I am up to and will prombably read an Amanda M Lee book for 7 : an author who has written at least 7 books as I am currently reading a couple of different series from her at the moment and she has definitely published more than 7 books 😀

message 33: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I don't usually plan much ahead, but because I'd like to finish these quick as I can and I have limited actual reading time I wanted to try and have some plans. Can change, but at least I have a direction.

message 34: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments I'm choosing
10. Depravity published on the 10th June 2015
8. Wolf's Bane (Moon Marked, #1) by Aimee Easterling for the carnivorous animal on the cover
1. Neanderthal Seeks Human for the debut.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Monday will be here soon ladies. Hope your all ready. LOL

message 36: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments I'm excited. Thanks for the reminder, too.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments LOL no problem. I think I may have to give Nikk a heads up. Hahaha

message 38: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I know I had a moment of panic today, thinking it started already because wheel ended.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments Am loving that the start time is in AEST aka my time zone Lol! Makes it so much easier to know when the start time is :-)

Does make it easy when a challenge time aligns to your time. I just barely make it to be able to start my audio book on way to work since it is 4am my time and I leave at around 5:30.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments yeah it will be 9 pm here and I need to be up at 5 am so i will be lucky to get an hour of reading done myself before i head to bed lucky one of my books on audio so i can listen at work tomorrow

message 42: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments As we finish them, do you want us to post completions here or on the spreadsheet or both, Carmen ?

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Keli wrote: "As we finish them, do you want us to post completions here or on the spreadsheet or both, Carmen ?"

If you're able to post it in the spreadsheet go for it. I'm having a problem posting anything. I will have to get a mod to take a look. If you have the same problem post your completion here until I can get someone to fix it.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments We don't have captains in the group but if you all prefer to have me add it to the spreadsheet, just post your completions here. I'm good with whatever you want ;)

message 45: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments I can't edit it either.
So I'll post my completion here. I'll happily fill in the sheet once I can.

Task: 10 first published on the 10th of a month
Book: Depravity
Author: M.J. Haag
Date Read: 12/08/19
Read by: Keli
How it Fits: First published on the 10th of June 2015

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Ok I got the mods to give me permission to edit the spreadsheet. If you'd like to edit your own completion just ask on the spreadsheet but if not I'm ok with adding info ☺

Keli I added your completion in the spreadsheet

message 47: by Plethora (new)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 2239 comments I'm almost finished with my first book as well.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 7238 comments Keli and Nikk if you want to edit the spreadsheet just send me or Plethora a PM with your email and either of us will send you an invite :)

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments coolies will send now.

i have started both my reads and am about 40% through both. hoping to have at least one done by tomorrow then the other shortly after that.

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments With the task to read a book with at least 9 speaking characters, do you think i need to list the 9 in the how it fits or is it enough to just say there are at least 9 characters with speaking parts?
