Question of the Day
Vivian wrote: "It by Stephen King—as far as intimidating length. The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish—as far as intimidating content."
It is such a long involved story for sure, but I loved it so much with all of the details.
Krystyna wrote: "63. What is the most intimidating book that you’re nervous to start?"War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
Krystyna wrote: "64. Who is your favorite poet?"I don't read poetry. I used to love Robert Frost. I even recited one of his poems in an English class once.
Between 2 and 6 books (including digital). However 3 books is a reasonable amount for me because I am a slow reader, but I just keep seeing more books that I want.

I’m not sure I have a favorite poet, but I’ve been reading more poetry this past year. I’m really liking it.
Krystyna wrote: "65. How many books do you usually have checked out from the library at any given time?"Between all formats, probably around 10 to 15 books.
Krystyna wrote: "66. How often do you return books to the library unread?"All the time. I check too many out at once.
Krystyna wrote: "68. Who is your favorite fictional character?"My favorite character is Annie from Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral.
Krystyna wrote: "67. What has been the most inspirational book that you’ve read this year?"One book that I felt inspired by is Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader. It was such a wonderful book and has definitely encouraged me to read a lot more.
I agree Dracula is a terrific villain! I also love Maleficent. She’s strong and her wings are amazing!
Krystyna wrote: "71. What is your favorite book that contains an LGBTQ+ character?"
I think mine, so far, would be Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire.

..
Fiction - Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx
And - The Devourers by Indra Das
Nonfiction - Esther the Wonder Pig by Steve Jenkins and Derek Walter
No way I could pick just one.
Krystyna wrote: "72. What is your favorite duology?"
While I was trying to find an answer to this question, I realized I don't really read duologies. But, I'd have to go with a YA duology that I read by Victoria Schwab. It's the Monsters of Verity series and the books are This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet.

Krystyna wrote: "73. What distracts you easily when you’re reading?"My pets....I feel like I must give them attention.
Krystyna wrote: "74. What book could you just not bring yourself to finish?"Frankly I’ve always either gone back and finished or plan to go back and finish books. There has only been one I couldn’t finish because of the narrator. I can’t even remember the name of the book, but the narrator made every character sound like Rodney Dangerfield. I couldn’t even hear the story because the narration was so bad.
Krystyna wrote: "73. What distracts you easily when you’re reading?"My phone or the TV if it's on in the background.
Krystyna wrote: "74. What book could you just not bring yourself to finish?"The Two Lila Bennetts by Liz Fenton
I just couldn't handle this one. It was super annoying.
Honorable mention:
The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal
There are numerous books that I did not finish. One is A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. So many people liked it that I kept trying. But gave up about 25% in.
76. What is your rule of thumb when it comes to buying books and reading books from the library? Do you strictly do one or the other? Do you read so many library books before you buy a book? Do you read so many of the books you bought before you buy any more?
The majority of the books I read are from the library. I'm trying to read more of the books on my own shelves. I don't really have any rules for myself. I am trying to implement a rule where I need to pick a book off my shelves, a book off of NetGalley, and a book that I have out from the library. Those will be my main priorities for the month.

I’m not sure I’ve read any book that’s been intimidating to me. Jane Eyre was one of the first classics I read that I felt a bit of trepidation. Next I had seen A Christmas Carol several times, but had never read the book. Once I finally read it I was so happy. I was worried I wouldn’t like the book, but I totally loved it, and it made me love the movies even more (especially Scrooged).
