Modbot | 94 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Definitely let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Pick a Team Captain. The team captain will track the books read by the team and double-check that your book selection complies with the rules - eg make sure that the selection and completion posts are as per the formatting and information requested below (msg 3).

Anyone is free to ask questions in the Q&A/Announcement thread - here. If you are unsure, please ask.

Once a Captain has been decided, the Team Captain should reserve a couple of posts in this thread to track their team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert one of their chat comments to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. This is not mandatory, but it is fun. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 10 September.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* please don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you except to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

Modbot | 94 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

For the initial selection post Option 1 I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please insert a link to the qualifying bookshelf/list.
If the theme is based off the bookcover or a letter in the title etc, please just repeat the theme.

For the initial selection post Option 2 I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

For the completion post I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

Modbot | 94 comments I'll be tracking each team's progress separately, using the Captain's summary in each team's thread to check for accuracy.

A summary chart will be posted in the last week to let teams know their progress against other teams :)

Logan (loganturner) | 961 comments Hi Roger! And hi team! I love this game and am ready for round 3!

I'm terrible at names. Devilish Deuces?

btwthesepages | 114 comments Hi Team! I'm Arshiya and I's nice to meet you all :)

Hi Logan and Roger!

message 8: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Hey, team 2.

I'm a veteran. It's my THIRD pass the parcel. I really love this challenge!

message 9: by Grace (last edited Sep 03, 2014 08:18PM) (new)

Grace | 1728 comments Hello Team!

I've played before and am excited to play again.

I'm from San Diego and am on the Pacific time zone. I love reading all types of romance books, but I'm currently reading a lot of paranormal books. I love a good shapeshifter book!

I've been the captain before, so I could do it, but I would prefer to let someone else do it. From experience it's really not that hard to be captain.

Off to try and think of names!

message 10: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Don't forget to give a little intro - since only some of you may have played with each other before (not in the literal sense of course ;)

message 11: by Lisa (last edited Sep 03, 2014 08:32PM) (new)

Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments Hi guys.
I'm Lisa and I live in the UK, so Eastern +5.
I read MM exclusively, so I'm hoping if you need to pick from my shelves you will find something you like.
I played last time and really enjoyed it.

As for names:
Love Times Two.
Double Trouble.

I don't mind being Captain if nobody else wants to do it.

message 12: by Logan (last edited Sep 04, 2014 09:32AM) (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 961 comments I'm Logan and I live in Chicago - so I'm central time. Jane usually manages to post the categories right when I'm on my way home from work so I'm not always the first to spot the new category each week. :)

I am reading a lot of M/M romance these days as part of a team challenge in that group, along with Lisa, and Roger who popped by to say hey, and is anyone else here playing?

But I also really enjoy historical mysteries and YA books. And romance of all types of genres!

I like Double Trouble! I'm fine with you as captain Lisa. I can consolidate and delete some of my posts above so you can have team spots closer to the top of the page.

message 13: by btwthesepages (new)

btwthesepages | 114 comments Hi Lisa & Grace.

Intro: I'm Arshiya and I live in India. So it's GMT + 5.30
I read mostly YA, romance, fantasy and bit paranormal. It's my first time playing this so I may have a lot of doubts. I'm okay with Lisa being the captain and Double Trouble sounds good :)

message 14: by Lisa (last edited Sep 03, 2014 09:26PM) (new)

Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments Arshiya, please can you accept my friend request. As your profile is set to private I can't see your shelves. It might be a good idea for anybody whose profile is private to send out friends requests.

Thanks for noticing that Lisa. It's one of the rules, but there are so many that I'm not surprised it was missed ;)

Ramneek | 286 comments Hi guys, I've just woken up and seen that teams have been allocated so I'm very excited!
This is my first PtP challenge so I will most likely make some mistakes so go easy on me, haha.
I live in UK so I'll probably be asleep when the categories are posted :)
I love reading Romance and I joined this group a while ago but never bothered being active until a month or 2 ago and just in that time I have discovered so many new books and cannot wait to do so in this challenge.
Everyone seems lovely and the name sounds great!!

Nothing wrong with wanting to get started. Hopefully Jane will continue with the trend of starting a little early for the first week! :)

message 23: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments If everyone gets their teams sorted, I'll start on Wednesday :)

message 24: by Sassafrass (new)

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4192 comments Oh, I guess I've got to introduce myself...

I'm Sassafrass. I'm right outside of Philly, so in the eastern US (which makes things easy for me as I don't have to do any time conversion).

I like reading almost everything and have a wide range of books on my shelves. I have to admit though I've got a ton of NA and CR on there right now because I've been in that kind of mood.

I can't wait to play this challenge because it's been really fun each time we've done it.

message 25: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (mooselover) | 2724 comments Ladies, Jane is willing to call the first cat on Monday, but we need to give her our team name.
Is everybody ok with Double a Trouble?
If there isn't any other suggestions before 5pm Eastern today, Friday, I'll let her know that's our name and I am the captain.

*4.5 STARS*

review: Loved, loved, LOVED this! The characters just drew me in. I was enthralled by all the stuff that Don Tillman just had wrong! HA! It was great!! I so pictured him as Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory.

The whole marriage plan...HA! Then Don being guided by his friend who was completely clueless but really thought he was a stud...*rolls eyes*

And Rosie, was just awesome! I loved the way she drew Don out. This book was so freakin good. I laughed 'til I cried and then did it some more. I can not WAIT tip the sequel. I will be the first in line to download.

I have to say my favorite scene was at the faculty ball when Don was dancing! OMG, I about peed my pants!!! That's some seriously great reading right there!

I got this on audio and I'm so glad that I did. The narrator's interpretation of Don was so spot on. He made the character come alive in a way that I know I would not have been able to.

Review:

I ended up loving this way more than I thought I would. It was a very sweet story that felt real to me. I really connected with Owen and Jordan. If I had one complaint it would be that the story relies too much on setup where I wished it had spent that time on Owen's choice toward the end. I would have liked to have had a better understanding of his struggle and how he came to the decision he did. But the characters were great and I couldn't help but root for them.

I enjoyed this book. A coming of age tale that took place during the break from graduating high school to going to college.
Malcolm had never thought of himself as gay. That is until the new guy , Wes, moved in across the street.
Super cute. A light easy read.
