Since the other teams have now guessed their second author, I will give you some info.

Please double check your authors listed in your spreadsheet and the most recent list posted here. You are missing someone important ;)

message 502: by Melinda (new)

Melinda (minna17) We're missing Tomi Adeyemi. She was born in the USA and in 1993 and was nominated for the 2018 YA Fantasy and Scifi.

message 503: by Storm (new)

Storm I finished Song of Achilles which can be the romance book for bucket 15

message 504: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments Mods - we have a guess!

15. Games 14 - Is our author Tomi Adeyemi?

(Thanks Laura and Melinda)

CONGRATULATIONS TEAM LADYBUG. YOU HAVE GUESSED YOUR SECOND AUTHOR!

message 506: by Traci (last edited Jun 14, 2019 03:59PM) (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments Copying and tweaking so it's on our current message page. Known options for current and future buckets.

Bucket 18 :
More than 20 letters in title: Miss Jane Austen's Guide to Modern Life's Dilemmas: Answers to Your Most Burning Questions About Life, Love, Happiness (and What to Wear) from the Great Novelist Herself (Marie), A Short History of Nearly Everything (Jody)
Graphic Novel/Illustrations: Melinda's book, A Game of You (Jody)

Bucket 19:
NASA: Chasing New Horizons: Inside the Epic First Mission to Pluto (Traci), The Mars Room (Hannah)
2020 Olympics (Japan): Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life (Jillian)

Bucket 20:
2017, 2018., 2019 lots of buzz, haven't read: Daisy Jones & The Six (Karissa), The Mars Room (Hannah)
Synopsis includes a question: The Clockmaker's Daughter (Jillian)

message 507: by Karissa (new)

Karissa | 440 comments My reading pace picked up and I surprised myself and finished reading The Woman in Cabin 10 which should work for Bucket 15's Plot Twist. I believe we should be done with bucket 15 now so I'll go ahead and finish The Rosie Project in a few minutes for bucket 16, a book with a heart on it.

message 508: by Karissa (new)

Karissa | 440 comments Finished with The Rosie Project for bucket 16, a book with a heart on it!

message 509: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2881 comments I just started Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life. I’m hoping that the title is enough to make a connection to 2020 Olympics in Japan.

message 510: by Melinda (new)

Melinda (minna17) I have half an hour left on my audiobook for Code Name Verity which will fulfil reading a book set in a country you've never been to so I will jump on it now.

message 511: by Karissa (last edited Jun 13, 2019 09:02PM) (new)

Karissa | 440 comments I'm going to start reading Daisy Jones & The Six for bucket 20, a 2019 book with lots of buzz that I haven't read yet. Almost halfway done with the audiobook Three Bags Full for bucket 17 book with an animal.

message 512: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I played today's game and I put my pages read. I finished Johnny Carson today on audio but I think it only counts towards pages read.

I'm not exactly sure what part of the challenge we are on. I've kind of lost track with work.

It looks like we are on bucket 16 but I'm not completely sure.

message 513: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments I've updated message 506 with current status and books people have mentioned for prompts.

Do we want to guess another author? If so, I'll start with dead/alive.
If 20 question fatigue has set in for everyone, we can just focus on buckets. Goal-oriented me definitely still wants to fill as many buckets as we can!!

message 514: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments I'm guessing my setting from another country won't be finished until lunchtime or later tomorrow (on US west coast), though she's also an author of color, so it could be next bucket (I should count how many buckets I've thought I might finish Unmarriageable for! Granted, I took multiple pitstops).

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments Jillian wrote: "I just started Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life. I’m hoping that the title is enough to make a connection to 2020 Olympics in Japan."

Based on the wild discussion for 2020 list planning, that fits the nature of the prompt.

message 516: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 245 comments I just finished Little & Lion. It will count toward our page count.

message 517: by Melinda (new)

Melinda (minna17) Just finished Code Name Verity so we have one book finished for a book set in a country I've never been too.

message 518: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments Morning all. I'm heading to London for the weekend so I won't have as much time to do the games etc but I'll try and keep you updated on my reading

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments Sarah wrote: "Morning all. I'm heading to London for the weekend so I won't have as much time to do the games etc but I'll try and keep you updated on my reading"

Have fun in London!

message 520: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments Thanks Traci. I'm going to see the Spice Girls so I feel like I'm ten again!

message 521: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments I’ve finished Cartes Postales from Greece for a book set in a country you’ve never been to.

Looks like we’re now on to Bucket 17 😊.

I’m listening to Those Who Are Loved by Victoria Hislop which has a bird on the cover for the animal prompt. I’ll definitely finish it today, but maybe not until I get home from work.

I am not convinced there is a twist as yet but i will be finished this morning

ETA i guess we are past there anyway

message 523: by Marie (UK) (new)

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 484 comments COMPLETED
A Dangerous Act of Kindness
pages only 429
i will add them to spreadsheet

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Sarah wrote: "Thanks Traci. I'm going to see the Spice Girls so I feel like I'm ten again!"

Ok, now that is exciting! Let us know how it is!

(I'm totally jealous, I love London and I haven't been there in about three years. I need my fix!)

message 525: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments Sorry to have been MIA team, my week has been the craziest in years!

I missed all the read-a-thon action and just finished Three Bags Full... before realising it would have been perfect for bucket 17, but we haven't finished bucket 16 yet, right?

I'm so jealous for London (and the Spice Girls) too!

Traci, I see you're going to read Chasing New Horizons, I hope you'll like it! I listened to the audiobook and found it really interesting.

message 526: by Marie (UK) (new)

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 484 comments Read last 90 pages of Grave Mercy

total length = 549

I think we finished Bucket 16 about 4.5 hours ago when Hannah finished her book, so you might be able to use it.

message 528: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) | 2826 comments Yay, I'm glad to be able to participate a tiny bit in the bucket completion 😉

message 529: by Katie (last edited Jun 14, 2019 01:53PM) (new)

Katie | 2360 comments Based on discussions in the groups, we've decided to just do 2 authors and give you a break from that portion of the challenge. You can spend the rest of the read-a-thon working on the buckets. Happy reading.

message 530: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2360 comments Sarah, I'm super excited for you to see the Spice Girls! Have fun!

message 531: by Jillian (last edited Jun 14, 2019 06:10AM) (new)

Jillian | 2881 comments I don't have work until this afternoon so I will work on finishing Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood though if 2 books by a an author of color gets filled it could work for 20 letters in title.

Will be a really fast read Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life.

I just added my page count for The Invisible Man from yesterday 192 pages.

message 532: by Marie (UK) (new)

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 484 comments Completed final pages of Glory in Death 14/06/2019

59 pages added to spreadsheet

message 533: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments Message 506 is updated through here (ish, didn't add born a crime to 20+ words in title) for those who prefer message updates to spreadsheet updates. Lots of updates to wake up to.

Sarah - Wow! Have so much fun at the Spice Girls! I hope it's amazing!

Sophie - So far I'm enjoying Chasing New Horizons: Inside the Epic First Mission to Pluto, thanks for your message on the wild discussion. Glad you could help with the buckets!!

no not really

message 537: by Storm (new)

Storm Did today's game!

message 538: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 384 comments Just finished Those Who Are Loved. It doesn’t fit a prompt, but we can use it for pages.

I’m going to start reading The Mars Room which could be used for the NASA or buzz prompts. From post #506, I think there is only one book either planned or being read for each prompt.

message 539: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments I decided to go to work late and finish Unmarriageable, fits for an author of color.

message 540: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Katie! Your dead-a-thin typo is a bit too real for me. 😂

message 541: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Oh! If we finished the previous bucket (judging by the posts above), I just finished How to Speak Dragonese, which would count for an animal book!

message 542: by Jillian (last edited Jun 14, 2019 12:27PM) (new)

Jillian | 2881 comments I finished Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood and will add it to the spreadsheet. (Someone will have to get it to fit though. For some reason the box is too narrow and I don't know how to fix that).

We are now on Bucket 18!

message 543: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Oh damn! Well it will work for the illustrations task then. 😁

message 544: by Katie (new)

Katie | 2360 comments Jody wrote: "Katie! Your dead-a-thin typo is a bit too real for me. 😂"

That's what I get for trying to do goodreads on my phone! Must've been a Freudian slip.

message 545: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments Oh man I did a typo too. 😂 Stupid autocorrects.

message 546: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments Jody wrote: "Oh damn! Well it will work for the illustrations task then. 😁"

Based on the order of the postings, I don't think this counts for our graphic novel/illustrations since we weren't on that bucket yet? What do you think?

message 547: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments How are people doing on bucket 18-20 books? I'll be able to crank through my NASA prompt most of the way tonight (bonus: this will also give me time to wash dishes and put away laundry since it's an audio book).

Anyone listed in message 506 or others have updates? We have at least one person on each prompt, but let us know if you think another person should work on one that you're working on because it's going slowly/slower than expected.

message 548: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1268 comments Jody and Marie-
I realized the book I'm hopefully picking up from the library tonight has over 20 letters in the title. Let me know if I should focus on that!

message 549: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments I guess it depends on what time Jillian finished hers. 😊 It might have been a little while before she posted. I can always read a graphic novel tomorrow afternoon if we decide to go with posting order. Maybe the mods can weigh in?

message 550: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments I didn’t think we’d get to the 20 letters this quickly, so I won’t finish mine quickly enough. It’s been a really busy week and there’s still more coming. ☹️
