Six | 2 comments Characters - especially aliens or those with superpowers - often worry their secret will be discovered and they'll be kidnapped by a lab.

Are there any books where they actually DO get caught and experimented on? This happened in Jaden Baker and thought it was really interesting. I've read Maximum Ride before, but that series is mostly about trying to not get re-captured.

I've tried looking for similar books to Jaden Baker, but most tend to involve erotica/romance or are set from the outsider's point of view (e.g. The Shape of Water).

Thanks in advance!

The ones that spring to mind are:

The Lathe of Heaven
Volume one of Strong Female Protagonist. Book One
The Poppy War
kind of Machineries of Empire (Ninefox Gambit)
The Book of Phoenix
The Girl With All the Gifts
kind of Broken Earth (The Fifth Season)

Beige | 155 comments The action packed Killing Gravity deals with the aftermath of medical experiments.

As does the TV show Stranger Things ;)

I was thinking more along the lines of a story that takes place during the experiments, rather than afterwards. I appreciate you taking the time to answer though. :)

Sven Bridstrup (sven62) | 6 comments uh... The Passage! Starts in a lab doing human experimentation. Then gets really good. And two more books after.

The classic Wolverine comic Wolverine: Weapon X and the follow-up X-23: Innocence Lost/X-23: Target X all have stories which primarily take place inside such labs. X-23 is one of the best graphic novels I’ve ever read, but it wouldn’t exist without Smith’s groundbreaking Weapon X story.
