Well I've already started my first ever reading challange, cause in Australia, it has already been the 1st of September for over 12 hours.

Congrats on the tests.

And I have already learnt my first lesson. Never put 3 books by the same unknown author in your reading challenge. Cause if you don't like the first one, you're stuck with the next 2. Learning that the hard way.

That's good to know Jan. Thanks. I might have to do that. But the book has had some good reviews, so trying to stick it out. If I don't like the first one, I'm definitely not reading the other two.

Mel (mel_b) | 1188 comments Mel, I got a message from Goodreads saying 'comment from Mel on the thread' and I thought there was a program dysfunction or something ehehe.
We can also say I'm Dutch Mel and you're Aussie Mel (expat, how cool!). I don't have any (baptizing) names, just the one (Melike- which ofcourse gets mispronounced in English so I stick with Mel). I could make it Mel B but then I get reminded of Scary Spice and I didn't like her...

total for challenge so far--2086 (I'm not including "also reads" in this, since they aren't added to our totals. Its actually a lot more than this, but I don't feel like going back and checking the totals, plus I'm sure that there are a number of us who don't bother listing their "also reads" (like me--I list some of them, but frankly, I tend to forget to list one or two, then figure why bother.)

Mel and Mel--We also have 2 Ann's. So I just sign Ann in Va. Sigh, maybe I should have signed up as my gaming avatar--not too many Iftcan's out there. :o) (ok, ok, shameless plug for Andre Norton, and I ALWAYS tell people who ask where my name came from in game about her writing.) :oP

Ann in VA

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) Ann, what do you mean by "also reads"?

message 178: by Chris (new)

Chris K (carseycritter) I think it's books that you read this month, in addition to the challenge. I'll barely be able to keep up with the 9 books... I'm always impressed by the people who read way more than that. :)

Trish--feel free to friend me. I have a book or three you might find interesting. :o)

Nichole--some of us do list the other books they've read this month--usually at the bottom of their posts and called "Also read this month" I'm one of those who reads a lot more than just the 9 for the challenge. I probably read about 325-350 books a year. Some (ok, a lot) of re-reads, especially if they are in a series and there is a new book coming out. I'll go back and re-read the previous books--at least 1 or 2 previous, sometimes the entire series--and then I read a lot of "new" books too. I don't work outside the house, except for spoi--er, that is-- occassionally watching my grandkids, so I have a lot of time. I also have arthritis and a few other health issues, so when the weather is bad, I just stay home, mostly on the heating pad and read, read, read.

Now, I've finshed my first book for this month. Just have to decide if my NEXT book is going to be a challenge book from my list, if I'm going to have to CHANGE my list or if I'm just going to read the book anyway. Its Secondhand Spirits
way--here is my provisional list:

Must Love Hellhounds (Michelle)

Bad Kitty (Shazzy)

The Darkest Kiss Melissa Bryan

Stakes & Stilettos YZ

Tall, Dark & Fangsome Bitten-by-books

Deadly Desire Brandy

Magic Bites Michelle M

Destiny Kills Ranata

Hunting Ground--- from Nita

Thanks Diana! I got Personal Demon from your list :) Do you know if Hope and Karl already knew each other in No Humans Involved? Cause they both appear in that book while Personal Demon is described as the first book about them (after the anthology). Hmmm confuuuusing.

Oh Michelle, I see you've got your list :) I should tell Aussie Mel that I just as well can sign all my post as Her Majesty Mel, she doesn't need to add the 'W'.
Oooh and when I finally came home today after an involuntary four hour train trip, guess what books were waiting for me? Storm Born and BDB #1.
So my dear: when shall we start reading about tha boyz?

Ann, how did you like Hunting Ground?

message 187: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Involuntary 4 hour train trip. Lol. Those are the BESTEST!

Start Storm Born! I'll warn you though, you're going to want to read Thorn Queen right after.

I'll probably get my hands on BDB tomorrow since I'm planning a trip to the bookstore. I'm so fitful about it! I've resisted so long, it seems so wrong to give in...

message 195: by [deleted user] (new)

It's hard to notice the names when you are so busy swooning and drooling. LOL

message 196: by Jacalyn (new)

Jacalyn | 454 comments So I've not even started my first one. I've no idea how to even make a list. I have like 230 or more books sitting in piles in my bedroom to read. And I'm like 'What's the best way to find what to read this month?" I picked up like five and none of my friends have them on their lists! GAAAH!

I'm in trouble. HAHA So I guess this is going to be fun. Maybe I should just decide on a book I want to read, find someone on goodreads who has read it, and friend them! HAHAHA I swear that's how I ended up with most of my flist here. I check my email and it's like "Some person you have no clue who is wants to be your friend!" so I'm like "Uh, OK!" But hey, it's how I found every group I'm on... HAHAHA So it works!

Hopefully I'll find a book to read tomorrow... HAHA
