Haven't been around much... work is draining me this year... things are so much worse in the cooler, trying to do it during the day with less time/etc... at least around these food holidays... it's actually cutting into my reading time quite a bit...
Anyway, glad to see you guys making progress... you have the REVEALS now... (view spoiler)
All of this has me really excited to see what new directions the final book goes in in another 2 weeks... first BR of 2020 :D

Whoops, I finished it a couple of days ago, but forgot to write a comment...I really enjoyed it and how fast paced it was, easy 4 Stars :) Still (view spoiler)
The audiobook of book 3 will be published on the 31st, right? I'm ready to read it in January :)
Dispel Illusion is up on KURL, downloaded on Kindle and Audible (I need to do Kindle to do Audible)... just need to sleep then I'll be jumping in... seems short... the audio is 7.5hrs... that's like 250 pages max... guess that's about right...

Just started... another 6 year time jump... MC is 22 now... 1992... I think I talked about this a couple months ago...
20% in... this is exceeding my expectations, so far... I didn't expect the trilogy to deal with the future so much... I thought it would focus on the 80s side of it all...
What are you guys talking about in the other thread?... it looked like this all along... I didn't edit the comments to sort the order...

😂😂 That must be it.
Hi, gang! I read Dispel Illusion today. Who else finished it? I thought it was okay but not as good as the first two books. The writing wasn't as well balanced as the other books. It seemed like writing the story in a certain manner was more important than making sure it actually fits together.
I only read chapter 1 (and was a bit confused right away 😂), but I'll try to catch up!Chapter 1 (view spoiler)

Yeah I know what you mean! Guess they just played D&D for years 😅

Re Chapter 2, but actually up to chapter 8 (view spoiler)

I'm totally with you on this Anni. Just trying to ignore that aspect of the story!
I think I rewound at that first tunnel scene...
The D&D and other things tie in later in the story, but so many elements seem random early on...

I'm up to chapter 18, 74% through. I'm really enjoying reading this, even if I have to let some details go over my head! I don't know if it's just my state of mind, but I found the last few chapters quite emotional! I even teared up a bit! I'm really excited to see where this ends.

Uuuh, I guess I have to put Crownbreaker down for a bit and continue with this one 😅

Siobhan, there were parts that were great but parts that came across as forced vs natural progression. I didn't get that feeling in either of the first two books. Story flow & hiccups. I thought certain aspects were too obvious. Dispel had a lot of "tell" the reader vs "experience story via characters" and that didn't vibe well with me. It did both of those styles of storytelling but mixed it up in a way that took away from the story. Stuff I would have enjoyed experiencing via characters were explained away in a few paragraphs/pages. Otherwise, the core of it was great.

I really liked the timeline jumping back and forth too! Possibly my favourite type of story telling.
