This book is alot shorter than I thought... the Kindle edition says 175 pages, but it's one of those books where each Kindle swipe counts as a page, instead of an actual paperback page... considering the estimated reading time is 2hrs, it's more like 60-90 pages...

The more I think about this, the more I consider it "Publication/Series Timeline"...
This stems from my experiences with the Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon... she has this mega-long mega-series that's like 9 sub-series at this point... Dark-Hunters, Were-Hunters, Dream-Hunters, Hellchasers, Chronicles of Nick, Lords of Avalon, Dragons Rising, Shadows of Fire, Deadman's Cross, and maybe more... I've lost track of the series as it became too convoluted to care a few years ago...
The point tho, is that the Chronicles of Nick is a prequel YA series that actually has to do with time-travel... Nick from the future is trying to save the timeline/Earth from annihilation in a war he doesn't want to be part of, so he's trying to change his childhood to accomplish it... and has failed 4 times... Chronicles of Nick is the story of his 5th and final try, and things that happen in it change events that happened in the 20+ Dark-Hunter books that published before it... but only a couple characters are strong enough to notice... and they comment on it once or twice in books that published after those events were changed... so Publication Time...
All this to say that Kiernan knows about the events of Timebound because we do... and he's experiencing events along that narrative timeline...

What?... (view spoiler)
Maybe it'll make more sense when I read it... I'm still on chapter 3 because i typed a bunch and got curious about Dark-Hunter developments in the past 2 years... long story short, it's a big clusterfuck, as expected...

Started Time's Edge... you said you planned to jump right in...
So far I've enjoyed most of what I've read (nearly 1/3 of the book)... but the whole Trey storyline seems unnecessary... there's enough going on with Kiernan and the time travel stuff...
Prudence seems like a real mess... this is mostly a comment about the novella... I can only imagine how convoluted book 2.5 is going to be, from her perspective...

Any problems I might have with the book, it certainly kept me engaged... considering my problems with Fearless, that's saying something...
I know I'm jumping the gun here, but I'm open to continue whenever you are, Anni... this book really got me gung-ho to continue/finish the series, for some reason...
I was worried throughout the middle that the book was going to end up pulling the "Middle Book Doesn't Matter" trope that is rampant in trilogies, but managed to squeeze a couple real developments in at the end...

Haha, sorry to keep you from continuing! I finished Book 1.5 and I really enjoyed seeing Kiernan's Perspective, I didn't know book 2.5 is from Prudence's POV, this is going to be interesting! I do like the series overall so far, you just shouldn't think too hard about what exactly is going on with the timelines 😅Still Book 1.5 (view spoiler)
I already started boom 2 as I saw your updates, I will try to make fast progress :) Just started Chapter 6, around 20% I guess.
It just seems like every time we think we have a grasp on some semblence of rules, they shift under us... that Kiernan one in Time's Echo is one of the worst offenders, but the Saul one in book 2 isn't much better, maybe worse even, since it creates questions about any original timeline...
I've found some good books to read while I wait... The Last Sun, start of the Tarot Sequence, was great UF action reminiscent of Kate Daniels and Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews, but with M/M elements... and How to Live an Undead Lie was the best installment of the Beginner's Guide to Neceomancy yet... just started Middlegame, Seanan McGuire's newest standalone book, and I've got a BR for Recursion lined up for Tuesday, Blake Crouch's new book with time manipulation and a crumbling timeline... people only know timelines are changing because of computer memory implants, I think...

Do you plan to read the Romulus Buckle Books, starting with Romulus Buckle & the City of the Foundersany time soon? I already asked Soo some time ago because we talked about reading it, but I don't think she's active here anymore...
I already read book 1, but just saw you've added it as well, so if you're interested I can wait to start book 2 :)
I tried it 2 years ago and put it aside... it wasn't the kind of steampunk I was looking for at the time... might give it a retry
So uh... I finished Middlegame... just reading it is probably going to hurt my enjoyment of the end of Chronos Files. lol...
Reading the blurb, I didn't realize I was about to read my new favorite timey-wimey book... that's kind of a spoiler, since the blurb doesn't indicate Middlegame is timey-wimey... I just finished rambling and gushing over it in the BR thread in the other group, even tho nobody else has gotten their copy from the library, yet... it was the June BOM over there, and I felt late with the month half over, lol...

So, I finished Book 2 and I really don't know how to rate it... It ended so abruptly and without knowing in which direction things are going, I don't know if I like it or not :D @HEA I agree, I have absolutely no idea how the author will try to pull this off... someone will not be happy in the end (or even there to begin with) I'm really, really curious how this will end and I really hope she will not make it too easy and magically everyting will fall into place.
The hotel scene is somewhere after 70%, but wow... that was strange! (view spoiler)

Started the next novella... it's nothing like I expected... I don't particularly care for what it's been so far, really... the reviews say all the manipulations by Campbell, Saul, and Simon is in the later half of the book...
It's practically a romance with a Hollow World-ish premise so far...

I paused the novella for awhile and listened to a couple other things... then I DNF'd Magic for Liars, so I'm back...
I'm REALLY not caring for Pru so far... most people seem to think this book makes Prudence more sympathetic, but I'm not seeing it, yet... (view spoiler)
I might be getting into a picky mood, where I get annoyed by the littlest things, but this book just seems primed to annoy me...

Haha, do it! I haven't startet it yet, I want to make little more progress with Murderbot first, ebooks took me somehow way longer to finish, even longer than paperbacks...

I switched over to Chasing the Moon and it's great and hilarious... a department store worker gets tricked into rooming with an Eldritch horror in a cheap apartment building, and her life is turned upside down as she learns about monsters and higher dimensions... and gains some superpowers to help with her survival... controlling her powers proves rough, and hilarious... typical A. Lee Martinez stuff, really... this is my 4th book by this author... I'm probably going to read Emperor Mollusk versus The Sinister Brain next, which is about an octopod supervillain who comes out of retirement to save the galaxy from other villains...
Have you already finished Time's Mirror? I'm halfway through.I agree, I don't care for Pru as well... She's such a superficial and selfish character. I honestly expected to see more of her story, but so far she's still 16...
One thing really curious about is something back from Chapter 1 (view spoiler)
That theory sounds like something that could happen in the final book... BUT, wouldn't it have triggered conflicting memories from an original timeline where Kate wasn't alive yet to attack Pru?
Still need to go back and finish this today...
Still need to go back and finish this today...
That novella raised more questions about the timeline than it answered... and that Black and White and Grey line... things seemed pretty black and white to me... Pru is an idiot with a chip on her shoulder regarding her mom, and only listened when things fed into her narrative that her mom is evil... I mean, seriously... the grandma made points that were validated by Pru about the warning letters, and nothing...
The whole thing throws Pru's role in the main series into question, too... the Pru Kate runs into throughout the series is much stronger of conviction than the one we see here...

I finished Chapter 6 now and I agree, this novella doesn't do much for me... I think the most interesting part remains the thing about Chapter 1 so far... I do think that is something we might find out in Book 3. Considering the timeline problem zou mentioned, I try not to think about it too much, as the author doesn't seem to care anyway...I haven't finished yet and I'm afraid, I do need tomorrow additionally, so I can't say how similar Novella-Pru and Book-Pru are, I asumed she will evolve farther, but judging by yor comment, she won't.
I'm wondering how everything turned out in the alternate version without Saul's fix of their first meeting.

After sleeping on it, I wonder if the Pru from the main books and the one here ARE different characters... Saul & Simon (view spoiler)
But then that creates questions about grandma Katherine in the main series...

Re:timelines... this just created so many more questions, right?... I also question the validity of everything Pru is told... I think the altered timeline here is more about weakening Pru's role in the Cyrist Church than anything else... in this timeline, Pru has almost no agency from the second Simon enters the story...

Hey! Are you guys reading One Word Kill soon? Will you let me know when you get to Limited Wish? I'd love to read it with you. :)
Sure thing... hopefully we can read One Word Kill next week... I'm just waiting for Anni to start the last CHRONOS book...
Been finishing up some side-reads before I get back to my BRs...
Read The Getaway God yesterday, and I think it's time for a Sandman Slim break... good time, too, since that was the end of a 3-book plot, I think...
Reading Rituals now to end out Cainsville, which I binged most of last week...

Of course :) Won't be too long, we will read it after finishing Time's Divide.
I also finally finished Time's Mirror, sorry it took me that long, I've got a light cold, it's not too bad, but I really had problems focusing on things 😅
The book itself was ok-ish... It wasn't bad exactly but a bit boring and I don't feel like it added much to the experience of the series... (view spoiler)
I need to read more Cainsville, I loved the first one but never got round to continuing. You got many buddy reads planned this month? I've got Demon Cycle starting, last Liveship Traders, and Temeraire #5. :)

Agreed... my cough finally cleared up after 6 weeks or so... I just kinda stopped needing cough drops one day without noticing...
I thought the "foreshadowing" was pretty obvious here... and didn't feel like this added as much to the story as the first novella did... it seemed more important from the blurb than it ended up being...

I'm practically empty on BRs... I'm still adjusting to the amount of reading I can do, now that I work 4am to 12:30 and have to deal with customers occasionally... I can listen to books easily for about 3hrs of my shift, then it's a matter of listening to books that I don't have to focus hard on while listening for walkie-talkie calls to do things by coworkers/managers, involving customers... I don't have to deal with customers much working inside the cooler, but it's still an adjustment...
Cainsville has been a bit of a rollercoaster... the first 2 books were great... the third book dipped a bit... and the fourth and 5th books have been interesting, but I'm kinda ready for it to be over... despite there being a crime solved in each book, it's more of a single story in 5 parts, and that overarching plot takes place in a very small time-table... the first 2 books spanned like 2 months, and there have been slightly longer gaps of downtime between the later books, but all-in-all I think it's only been 6-9 months... early on I noted comparisons to the Fever series, which is also a 5 part story, but they're really quite different, despite covering vaguely similar material...
My BRs at the moment are this timey-wimey stuff, Vlad Taltos and Kurtherian Gambit with Choko... Raymond E. Feist with Choko and Pallavi, Nevernight starting up, and Fallen Empire ending with Tammie and a couple other people... and I think Spellslinger is on again, now, with Niki's library copy arrived...

Ah yes I forgot your work hours had changed. Definitely an adjustment for you.
Hmm I'll bear that in mind for the rest of Cainsville and try to temper my expectations!
Oh I'll join Spellslinger 3 when everyone's ready. :)
Finally started... think I'm on chapter 10... this book is seriously backloaded with longer chapters toward the end... I really dunno what to think with everything going on... doing everything out of linear order is giving Kate a taste of Pru's life, I think...
Chapter 19 now, and I find this book hilarious on a meta level... around chapter 12-15, Rysa Walker just threw her hands in the air and said time travel is confusing, and basically stopped trying to make sense of the linear timeline within the narrative...
Even Kate-Time between this book and the previous book has been crazy, and super short... I'm just kinda going with it and not asking questions... which is funny considering how much we tried to understand everything in the first 2 books...
This craziness also leads to characters and events getting basically left dangling, because there's no time... it's like a runaway trainwreck... I can't look away...

Kiernan: This is the big talking point of the book, I think... and the truth is still up in the air, but I think this is safe to read regardless of location, because it's pure speculation, and a response to above: (view spoiler)
I finished Chapter 17... And yeah, I've got the same feeling for a while now, that the author has no idea herself what is going on with her timelines, so I don't even try to be logical with my theories 😂

That shit with the fire extinguishers almost made me rewind...
My vague reference to dangling plotlines was about Houdini/Bess... hell, it's easy to forget about the hostages, with all the other things going on at a semi-normal pace...

Oh well... I was trying to be optimistic... I actually have my doubts about the author's ability to juggle the complicated timelines...
Like Arkadeb said... it's best to just assume the author knows what they're doing, to enjoy time travel stories... but it's hard, sometimes, to stop...
