Sorry to hear that When He Was Wicked kinda stunk for you! I've never actually read any of her books, nor have I read any of Julia London's either, but both authors get mentioned a lot with Elosia James, whom I have read. Here's hoping your pick from the Part of a Series shelf will be better!
I really like Julia Quinn so this was more my dislike of heroine than anything else but it was strong enough to destroy the book. I see you're reading Harry Potter :) Prisoner of Azkaban was one of my favorites from the series.

'Tis one of my favorites as well, though Order of the Phoenix is a close second!

After reading the first two books in this series, I was so looking forward to reading this installment. However, I didn't enjoy it as much as those previous ones. It's listed as being inspired by Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, but I honestly couldn't see it. I also found myself hating how much the characters waffled amongst themselves as to whom to love. I really hated the character of Bea! Molly was also easy to dislike, though I could understand her reasons behind her actions. It just got very annoying just how much she jumped to conclusions. While this was an interesting read, I thought it wasn't as good as the prior reads, and I am now hesitant to read the final book in the series.

When I first saw this book I really liked the blurb but the cover is so awful that it took me quite a while to get to the book. It was a bit different than my usual reading but overall it was a rather good book and I was sad to learn the author has passed away this summer and won't be able to finish the series.

This was yet another good book from the author and I liked it even more than her Until series. Her writing reminded me so much of Kristen Ashley books that I had to double check with my memory if Kai in this book was not Mace from KA Rock Chick series (they're both Hawaian and after reading so many books I got really confused). It's great that his book is next and I can't wait for it.

I remember downloading this a while ago, for free or at most $1, not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. I read this for a tear-jerker element, but while I did get a bit misty eyed, no tears fell. I was, however, very touched by some of Clay's actions, and even Romeo's to a degree. I found it very easy to identify with Melody, and even Clay to an extent. While this is a shorter story, it is very much a completed story and an erotic one as well! I'm on the lookout for other books in this series!

All of Catherine Anderson's books sound very good to me but it shows they were written quite a while ago and they are too long for my tastes. It would be perfect if I could read them in Slovene but as not one of them has been translated they don't receive high ratings from me just like this one didn't.
I was caught up in re-reading most of the books from my favorite author - Jamie Begley this week and it took me even longer than usual to read the required book :( I just remembered when I finished my book that one of hers has a hero who was in prison but it was too late to switch books - it would have saved me a lot of grief.

This was yet another HP book that I'm happy to get off my TBR but it was nothing special. This was the first book from Maggie Cox that I read and it probably won't be the last one if I ever need a specific book for a challenge again.

Gea, I think you missed this post where I made Pennsylvania Railroad an owned property, giving me a monopoly on the railroads.
Updated this post to make Water Works an owned property. According to the Q&A for this, it can be a book that you get choked up on, a book that made you cry before, or a book that has made others cry. I found this book on page 3 of the Cry, tear-jerker romances list (link to list in above mentioned post).

Review:
I really hated this book and was thankful it was a short read! It read as if all the students in the school were rich and snobbish. I wasn't able to connect with any of them at all, even though I'm not really the target audience! Even my daughter, who is in the target audience, disliked the book! The story was uninteresting at best and was often very confusing, especially with the constant PoV changes. I did get a chuckle out of the "Monster World Lives Among Us!" situation, but it wasn't enough to save the book from a one star rating. My daughter recommended that I read one of the Ever After High books, as she believes they are much better than this is.

Review:
This book was recommended in Eloisa James' newsletter, and while I don't normally enjoy New Adult Romance, the premise of this book sounded interesting enough that I took a chance and spent more than I like to on a Kindle book and bought it. I found it to be a quick read, with an interesting start, but it does suffer from much of the angst that is typical of a New Adult Romance novel. The couple does some pretty stupid things throughout the course of the book, often times shoving the other person away, sometimes justifiably. What I liked about this story is that the characters, while sometimes acting stupidly, were very detailed and easy to connect to. Likewise, the supporting characters were also richly detailed, and I'm interested in seeing more of the band mates themselves. Their dynamic reminded me of Olivia Cunning's Sinners on Tour series, just a more angsty version of them. I liked the book enough to pick up the second one in the series, so hopefully it will improve!

Original review:
This is by far my favorite Bigtime novel! I love how Bella really is an anti-hero, in part because she can't control the superpower she has. I loved how this book showcased heroes and villains that weren't that much more than a gadget based hero or villain, because their powers didn't allow for much more than that. The love story between Bella and Debonair was very sweet and poignant, as was the relationship between Joanne and Berkley. It also showcased that the series was growing into its own, from its somewhat rocky beginnings. I'm just sorry that the publisher decided to kill the series after this book! With the author's busy schedule, we haven't seen too many new books from this series, and this reader misses it greatly!
Re-read Review:
This book pretty much is an all time favorite read for me, one of those comfort reads that everyone has. Bella's luck superpower often manifests as static electricity, making it a perfect read for the Electric Company utility! I still enjoy reading about Debonair's devotion to Bella, and how Joanne goes from rich society wife to pissed off kidnapping victim, then to elegant and devoted widow. It is still my all time favorite to the Bigtime series and just a favorite read in general.

Review Book 1:
Finally, I'm finished! I wanted to say I hated this book, but the fact that it kept pulling me back in kept me from giving this a one star rating. I found it very boring, and the character of Cress was very lackluster. While I understand that she was raised alone, the fact that she wasn't attempting to overcome her fears was a major stumbling block for me. Her infatuation with Thorne also bordered on sycophantic and childish, not really a romantic bent to the story as I am sure it was intended to be. Thorne was supposed to be an anti-hero, and while he did do that to a small degree, he was mostly just scenery to me. It took me a week to read this, and I wound up reading several other books while reading this one. Short of challenges, I doubt I will continuing with the series in the immediate future.
Review Book 2:
This book was awesome! When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it! I found it to be a very touching story, about how to move past betrayals of so many different kinds. Lucy was a very down to earth, no-nonsense character, and yet she had a bit of the magical about her as well. Sam likewise had a touch of magic to him as well, but he was very much a tortured soul at heart. The romance between these to was like watching something blossom or a good work of art take shape. The writing really drew me in and I truly enjoyed the book. I will be getting a copy of it for my Kindle asap, and I have already recommended it to others!

Review Book 1:
This was a very interesting introduction to this series. Many times I heard that the author's other character series, Anita Blake, was getting to sexually motivated, and I got to the point where I was agreeing with it, but then this series debuted. Being a book about fae, I was immediately interested. However, this book is not for the faint of heart. The author takes all the sexuality of the Anita Blake books and magnifies it by a factor of at least 20. The entire plot is a sexually motivated one, making for an extremely erotic read. Yet, it is through this eroticism and sexuality that the readers learn about the characters and begins to identify with them. Meredith is a very strong willed character, and the men she surrounds herself with run the spectrum from being equally as strong willed as she is, to being very submissive to her. I found it interesting to see how she responded to each of them. This book was one that set up the themes and plots for subsequent books, so while interesting, does not give us much to go on plot-wise. There was a lot of world building done in this book, which was also intriguing to read about. I have a feeling that these books will build on one another heavily and will need to be read in order and not as stand-alones. I think, though, that the series is worth continuing with.
Review Book 2:
The premise of this book seemed interesting, and the writing was technically good, but I wound up just not enjoying this book! While written in first person, it did a lot of telling us what is happening, not showing us through dialogue and action. I also got disgusted with the heroine very early on, and that colored the rest of my interactions with her. Being a mother, I could not believe that she would be so callous as to not fight to be in her child's life now that she had been freed from her unwelcomed prison, no matter how much she felt that she didn't deserve to have her child. The fiancé I can see, the child? I'd fight tooth and nail to be in my kid's life if the same had happened to me, so why couldn't Toby? I had no respect for her after that. The mystery was mildly interesting, but with how boring the rest of the book was, I couldn't bring myself to care about it. This is a series and author I will avoid in the future!
Review Book 3:
I went into this with high hopes, as so many people I've met here on GoodReads have enjoyed this book, but in the end, I was disappointed in it. I enjoyed bits and pieces of the overall book, which has saved it from a one star rating, but not enough to really get in and care about the characters. In starting this book, we're given a very sketchy framework of the background of the characters. I wanted to know why this character was "soulless", and how she could be so moral without it. That nagged at me the entire time I was reading this, proving very distracting! I hated how the main heroine kept harping on being soulless, like we hadn't heard about it two pages prior. I did like the steampunk elements to the book, though they weren't very well developed enough to be called steampunk. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for the story, and I'll probably try to go and revisit it, but I was disappointed overall.
Gea, are you still able to play? I haven't seen you update lately, so am wondering if things have gotten too busy for you to play. If so, just let me know and we can call it done as is.
Updated this post to make Park Place an owned property.Gea, I haven't heard back from you about my post above, and you haven't updated your Illinois Avenue post in a month or so, so I'm going to assume life got crazy busy for you. As I'm having trouble finding as much reading time as I used to, I'm going to call the game finished. I'm going to suggest that you take all unowned properties currently available, giving you 13 total properties and me 14 with my completion and ownership of Park Place.
I had a blast playing this and hope that things slow down a bit for you soon so you can find time to read and relax!
