Review:
This was actually the first time I've read a Romantic Suspense from Julie Garwood. However, I was expecting something a lot more suspenseful when I read this. Don't get me wrong, the book was well written, but I didn't enjoy the huge jump in time between the beginning of the book and where the real story began. Michelle seemed too uptight for how she was portrayed in the beginning of the book. Theo was interesting, but seemed too week to be an Alpha hero Justice Department agent. The suspenseful part of the book was a more cerebral one, and at times the plot dragged because of it. Everything seemed to coalese into the last 100 pages of the book, and was resolved quickly. It came across to me as too much build up for a slightly disappointing ending. I did like the twist that came about concerning one member of the Sowing Club, I sure didn't see it coming! I might check out one or two more of the series, but not sure I'll read the entire set.

Yeah, I read the rules, had to edit my post and posted a review. I should have done that first!

Nice roll! You're going to get a Monopoly first for sure! *grins* That entire side of the board is my first goals in Monopoly usually!

I read the short story "Sticky Sweet" prior to reading this and it kept my interest and had me curious for more at the same time. Been on a MC club kick ever since I started watching Sons of Anarchy earlier this year. It's a really good show!

Review:
This book was more of a 2.5 star read for me, but I enjoyed the short story "Sticky Sweet" that I read before this, so I'm rounding up for the book overall. I was disgusted with the events of the first half of the book, almost abandoning it a couple of times. I persevered and continued on, and as the action heated up, the book got better. Marie was a strong character, and Horse was a jerk until he got what he wanted from Marie. I was disgusted enough to not want to continue the series in the beginning, but I may try to borrow the books and read them to see if it improves any. I doubt I will spend more money on the series, unless the books go on a major sale.
Sticky Sweet Review:
This was a short story depicting the meeting between Marie and Horse, told from Horse’s point of view. This is my first introduction to the author, and I was immediately captivated by the characters. They were very well written! My only frame of reference for motorcycle clubs is Sons of Anarchy, a very well written and acted show that I would rate 5 stars, so any motorcycle club books I read gets compared to that template. Sticky Sweet reads like a Sons episode, just shorter, like a teaser trailer. I don’t think it is quite up to the caliber of Sons of Anarchy, but it comes close! (4 stars)

This was a pretty decent followup to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! It covers the summer after that first book and the school year afterwords, where once again Harry has to combat the Dark Arts and forces of Lord Voldemort in order to keep Hogwarts and the people he cares about safe. There is an interesting mystery here, and there are seemingly innocuous statements made that have a huge impact in later books, but what makes this book so interesting is its ability to captivate children and adults alike time and again. I highly recommend them to anyone with children to encourage their child to read. It is my belief that the success of this series led to the rise of some of my daughter's favorite books like Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series!

This was an wonderful end to an amazing series! This book both ties up loose ends in the subject of Jacob's affections for Bella, and introduces a new conflict that winds up being resolved by the end of the story. Edward's affection for Bella is never more evident than in this book, and Bella gains greater understanding of Edward's family through the events that happen to her in this book. I was rather amazed by the lore that the author built into the story regarding Reneesme and others like her. All in all, it was a good way to spend a day in bed when I'm sick with a cold!

This is a follow up to Eclipse, written from the point of view of the only newborn survivor of the army sent to attack the Cullens. Most of it is unnecessary, as it doesn't do much to further the story from Bella's point of view. What we do see is how clueless the newborns are, and some of their needs that drive them. I do like how Bree is able to warn the Cullens of the situation through Edward and how we get to see more of the workings of the Cullens through Bree's eyes. While this is a mostly unnecessary story, it is nonetheless an interesting one.

Review Book 1:
I really wanted to like this book, but I wound up chanting over and over while reading this: "I hate this book, I hate this book!" It dragged so much, feeling very clunky and unwieldy, and could not focus on a point of view, constantly shifting between Cinder, Scarlet and sometimes even Wolf's PoV, making it very distracting and difficult to follow. I hated the shifting PoV the most. When we finally got to the last 30% of the book, it suddenly picked up, and there was a dizzying array of action and revelations, to the point that I got overwhelmed by the information dump. Upon finishing it, I talked to my daughter, who had many of the same complaints that I had about this book, and she's the target audience for it! She also told me that the third book, Cress, suffers from the same shifting point of view as this one did, only this time, it shifts between Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress' point of view, with the possibility of Wolf, Thorne and Kai as well. It makes me apprehensive for the next book!
Review Book 2:
With how well I enjoyed the first books in this series, I was hoping for much more out of this story. Instead, America's constant waffling on what she wanted became very stale, very quickly. This waffling made her come across as weak and doubtful, and not strong enough to rule the country. Yet, she was an extremely likable person as well, unafraid to stand up for justice when she needed to. In this book, we learn more about Maxon as well, and the lengths he goes to and endures on his road to leadership. Some of the mystery concerning the rebel attacks is also dispelled here, but nothing is done with it in this book. While it was a quick read for me, I feel it is a weaker link in the series and am hoping the subsequent novellas will shed more light on the story arc for me.

This was my 5th book from Dan Brown and after the disappointment of The Lost Symbol I was wary of this one. The book was such a gem it was a nice adventure reading it. I loved how we get to know Dante and his Divine Comedy and it made me want to read it even when I never read more than those few required parts for school.

It's hard to read a book consciously that you know someone rated 1 star. It's somewhere behind in your mind and it can affect your view of the book. I have this problem sometimes if I read too many reviews before reading the book and if I don't have any strong opinion about the book the ones from reviews take place.

This was another good book from the series and it's very nice to read it in Slovene as it would drag too much if I read it in English, just like the first book did.
I like how we read about many more characters from Virgin River, not just the main characters in the current book, but those side characters don't take over the story like they often do in other series.

I agree that it can color your view of the book. I've had too many books be ruined on my first read through because I got caught up in reading the reviews of it first. Of course, on the re-read of it, some haven't improved, so there must be something to the reviews!

Yay! Glad you were able to get something to fit!

While much of this rehashed events found in The Elite, it did so from Aspen's point of view. This gives the reader a unique look as to what goes on behind the scenes in the palace. We get to see how the servants react to Lady America's actions. Aspen's love for America is very evident, but we also get hints that there might be someone else for Aspen as well. While it is not necessary to read this story, I've found that it enhances the overall story arc, and should not be missed.

Review:
When I first started reading this, I thought I'd be one of the few folks that happened to enjoy this book. However, as the book went on, it deteriorated into a boring and uninteresting mess! There is no character descriptions until chapter three, which is quite jarring, as you form a mental picture of the heroine very early on, and the fact that she is actually an American woman of African descent comes as quite a shock. She's also very shallow and snobbish, calling some of her dates cheap or boring. The hero is a bit of a jerk too, because he tries to be witty and cute about his attraction to the heroine, but he comes off all wrong. Why couldn't the two of them just be honest instead of playing all these hard to get/cute and witty games to get the other person's attention and attraction? These were barriers to connecting with the characters, to the point where I found myself not caring about them and just wanting the book to end. Sadly, I've deleted the book from my Kindle and will be avoiding the author in the future.

This is one of my favorite Harry Potter books! I keep picturing the actors from the movie as I read it! I like how we get to see Harry growing up more, and learning more about how his parents died. We also learn a bit more about the events surrounding their deaths and some of what they were like while at school. We can also see hints about how the series will end up, and Harry does end up relying on Hermione less in this book. It is a very pleasant way to spend a dreary, rainy afternoon!

Monopoly Rules
• You do not need to wait for the other player to finish reading before you take your next turn. As soon as you're done reading, go ahead and roll.
• Each property is represented by a shelf. For each grouping of shelves/properties you would read a certain amount of books from that shelf. Once you finish the amount of books you would then “Own” that shelf.
• If you land on an “owned” shelf you would have to read a certain amount of books above what the owner had to read.
• If one person “owns” all of the books in a group (think Mediterranean and Baltic) and another player lands on their properties they would be able to recommend at least one of the books that the player has to read.
• Utilities – For the Electric Company – Read a book where the characters have electric chemistry. For Water Works – Read a book that makes you cry. Books have to be 150 pages or more.
• If a player lands on an “Owned” utility, then the owner will recommend a book with electric chemistry or that makes them cry.
• Railroads – For Reading Railroad – Read whatever you want. For Pennsylvania Railroad – Read a book set in Pennsylvania. For B&O Railroad – Read a book that someone else thought stunk. For Short Line – Read a novella. Page minimum 150 for all but Short Line. 25 page minimum for the novella.
• If a player lands on an “owned” railroad, the owner will recommend a book for that specific railroad.
• Chance and Community Chest – there are 12 cards for each. If a player lands on one of those spots they will roll the dice a second time and then would “pull” the corresponding card and do whatever it says on the card. Once a card is used, it will be out of play unless needed to finish the game. Books for this would need to be at least 150 pages.
• Being in Jail – To get out of jail you would need to have one of the get out of jail free cards, roll doubles on one of your next three turns or read a book where a character is arrested or has been in jail. Books for this would need to be 150 pages or more.
• Just Visiting – Read a novella of your choice, 50 page minimum
• Free Parking – Read any book 100 pages or more
• Go – Read any book of 200 pages or more
• Luxury Tax/Income Tax – Read a book with a rich character, a really poor character or someone that works in a bank. 150 pages or more
• Each roll, you'll post your starting spot, the roll and your new spot on the board.
• When you finish your book you'll post the spot your on, book name, rating, when it was finished and a short review of the book. If you were supposed to read a book that had a specific element (water works utility, book that made you cry), then please mention that in the review.
• Re-reads are allowed.
