What's a retelling?

It’s basically a different spin on classic stories like Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella

Well it's a story or book (usually a fairytale) that's retold again differently- all kinds of things could be different too like it could be the modern day version of Cinderella. It could be Peter Pan- but told from Captain Hook's pov. Make sense?

A couple are
cyborg Cinderella
Alice in Wonderland- but modern day and with zombies instead
a retelling of the fairytale East of the Sun and West of the Moon
The Queen of Hearts backstory
