This wasn't as good as I had hoped. It is an interesting tale of John Grady, a young man (16 years old) and his friend going from Texas to Mexico and all that happens on this trip. It just didn't grip me and I found it quite depressing. I don't think I am going to continue this trilogy.

Ok...so I was actually really enjoying this book. She does a great job with the character portrayals, and I was intrigued with the plot- a young boy who was kidnapped for seemingly no reason. The book was 370 pages and around page 355, I was wondering how she would possibly tie all of these complex lives together to solve the mystery in only 15 pages...well, she didn't. Really disappointing. Literally, nothing happened...maybe the next book in the series will continue this one? But judging by the book's description, it doesn't look like it. Grrrr

I am not sure if my expectations were too high, but I didn't enjoy this book like I thought I would. This one was just kind of flat.

First of all, I didn't "feel" the chemistry between Jordana and Nathan. It felt more like insta-lust, the kind you feel when a good girl meets that bad boy you know your dad would want you to stay away from. That feeling of wanting to be the one who tames that tiger. I liked Nathan and Jordana individually though. I kept waiting for the moment Elliott Bentley Squire (Jordana's boyfriend) would be revealed to be a fiend waiting to use her for evil...I am still waiting.

Also, I am baffled at where this series is going. Not knowing the true enemy and the enemies motivations didn't really get me excited. It's like now everyone is an Atlantean descendent. Are there any plan old breedmates left anymore? There are just more questions and not enough answers, so this one was just okay for me.

Nope. I think my GR friends warned me against it saying it was too dark for my delicate sensibilities. I bought Slave (Finding Anna, #1) by Sherri Hayes on an audible sale for $3.95 and I got a big NOOOOO, don't do it Ezi. They said the same for Captive in Dark and Consequences.

I am not sure what to think about this book. It is a murder / mystery but in the way that we are told right away who did it, then the next 620 pages says why. Richard, the person, who is telling the story is part of a group of 6 college students who study Greek but as a newcomer he is also set apart from the group.
I didn't really like any of the characters in the book but it was still a strangely compelling read.

I wasn't sure whether to give this book 3 or 4 stars but I decided on 3 because, to me, 4 is a really really good book. I did like this book, but there were aspects that really bugged me. I guessed the killer from the very beginning, which usually would be a deal breaker, but there were several people I wondered about. I was surprised that I was actually correct.

The book had wayyyy too many characters...a core group of 5 friends, and police officers in two different states, all very similar to each other. It bounced from Minnesota to Wisconsin and each police station had a handsome and conflicted lead detective and a chubby, goofy sidekick so I often forgot which state I was in. There were also several "extremely fat but very sexy women" (No joke) in addition to two secretive, mysterious women who were love interests of the detectives.

Finally, the language in this book was seriously goofy. And I was confused about all the fetishes for big women...especially since this book was written by a mother and daughter. Even with all that, I enjoyed the book. It was a good plot with a good ending.

This was Lisette and Zach's HEA. Zach is the guy Seth beat up in the last book. His cousin that we knew nothing about other then he was as powerful and old as Seth. He had been visiting Lisette in her dreams while he was imprisoned by the others.
A lot happened in this book, most important was that the immortal guardians have a new enemy enjoyed has recruited humans and vampires. Their identity still remains a mystery but this common enemy allowed Zach and Seth to make peace, Zach to be welcomed into the IG fold, and Aidan to be featured in a way that leads me to believe the next book will be his.

The Next Accident by Lisa Gardner

The Next Accident (Quincy and Rainie #3) by Lisa Gardner

I thought this book was just OK...but I'm comparing it to her D.D. Warren series, which I'm also reading, and every book is impossible to put down. There is too much emphasis on the characters in this series, and they are just not that interesting. Pierce Quincy is the hardened FBI profiler who excels at his career but regrets all of the years he was absent from his family. Rainie Conner is the ex-cop with trust issues because of her troubled background...blah blah blah.

I liked the first book in the series, because the story didn't focus on the two of them, but the second two books revolved around their lives. In this one, there is a mad man who is terrorizing Quincy's family and he is trying to figure out it is out of the giant pool of criminals he has pissed off over the years. He hires Rainie to help, but of course there is a lot of boring sexual tension between them.

It wasn't my favorite, but still a pretty solid suspense, and I am going to read the next one because I love Lisa Gardner and continue to be impressed by the D.D. Warren series.

Julian Capeletti is barely making it month to month. He is 2 months behind in rent and lacks job offers when he comes across an AD in the newspaper looking for a handyman. Desperately trying to find some work, Julian goes and meets the owner of the building, Mr. Matt Doner and gets the job. Matt Doner inherited a dilapidated building from his Aunt Eleanor who wanted him to use the house as a new beginning. See Matt just served a 5-yr prison sentence and now he wanted to make his life count for something positive.
So with Julian’s help, Matt sets out to rebuild the “office space”, but this project turns out to be a restoration for both men as Julian is also trying to heal from his past.

I loved Julian. He had such inner fortitude and resolve. He was a man of his word and he was a rock for Matt. I was happy with the continual evolution of Matt as he found strength to reconnect his family…well, not his witch of a mom, but the rest of his family. I love that the author didn’t make this story too angsty or sappy, it was just right in terms of pace, character development and emotional moments. These two guys deserved this second chance and I was so happy they got it.
